Thanks a lot, ammu! It's an important development, when Ragini realises all by herself that her entire marriage was based on forcing someone to accept her into his life... Let's see how she reacts and how it impacts them...😳

Hey Bubble 🤗 🤗

What a lovely set of chapters this quartet was, 59 to 62. 😊 Containing so many emotions, so much of healing and realization all round. And a lovely tie in to the trip to the Himalayas, to Haridwar and Gangotri--symbolic, for isn't the piligrimage to these posts supposed to engender that self realization, getting in touch with the mysteries of one's own soul...

This entire FF has explored the emotions of each of the 4 main characters so well...and you continued that here. To start off, Swara's very understandable fear of entering the waters of thr Bhagirathi at Gangotri---given that she had been shoved into the waters and almost drowned, it would have been surprising, in fact, had she not had this fear. The serial is too busy with manufactured crises of the most inane kind to show us anything so meaningful and poignant---but hey, why bother? We have your Fic! 😊 The way Sanskaar reassured her---but at the same time, implacably and inexorably insisted that Swara needed to take a dip, was awesome. He'd understood that she needs to metaphorically wash away her fears, her bad memories. Ragini's remorse, her realization of her sins continued---I really liked how she tied the end of her dupatta around Swara, and then the other around her own waist---they float together, she says; she would protect Swara, and if the current ook her away, Ragini would be dashed away with her too! What a lovely moment that was, marking the healing sisterly bond between them, that had been thrown into such rampant dysfunction...

The scene at the tea shop in #60 was so moving, Bubble. Sanskaar's remembered pain, of Swara shivering in cold when he'd rescued her from the hospital, how desperate he was to warm her bu turning up the heater in the car, and how helpless he felt seeing her convulsive shudders and hearing her teeth chatter...

Lakshya's sobs, his utter and complete remorse for not having believed Swara, and her repeated forgiveness of this lapse, finally helped him achieve that much needed closure, didn't it. This aspect, again, was so undercooked in the serial, we never ever got to see a genuine remorse from Lakshya's side. It was all "Ragini deceived me; now you have to return to me Swara!" The serial Lakshya had the intellectual and emotional depth of a teaspoon! So very glad that you have fleshed out the character here, given him a depth and perspective which makes him so much more likable, more relatable. Is it any surprise that I like your version of Lakshya so much more than the one we get in the serial? 😛 😉

I liked the almost brother--sister bond between Sanskaar and Ragini---or at least, a kind of return to their friendship of days past. Who better than Sanskaar after all, to understand the importance of a second chance, an opportunity to redeem oneself? He noted that Ragini was looking pensive and silent, and stayed protectively between her, and the dark, swirling river flowing nearby. Sanskaar did think momentarily if she might throw herself into the river in a fit of extreme remorse, didn't he? I liked the warm and affectionate side hug he gave her; how he explained that he was redeeming himself, making good for the sins he had committed. His comforting faith that she could do the same, must have reassured her a lot. The awesome foursome had a nice moment there---and Lucky was right, the guys were certainly going to have trouble handling Swaragini !!! 😆

And to round it off, a short but very poignant chapter, further fleshing out Ragini's realization of the sins she committed. She is mending her relationship with her sister, but now she also realizes how much she imposed on Lakshya. He has accepted her in his life; he has also moved on from Swara, accepting that she and Sanskaar love each other. But Ragini has now started feeling genuine remorse for forcing herself into his life, for binding him into a relationship he never wanted, but she was so obsessed with. Ironic, in a sense, that this realization has taken such deep root within herself at a time when Lakshya himself has perhaps fallen deeply in love with her. He has started noticing everything about her moods, her words, her silences, hasn't he? 😊 And he sure doesn't like it if she is withdrawn and silent...😉

Waiting for the next chapters, dear---and I shall be more prompt in my replies. Slowly recovering now.

Love,

---Viji

Thank you, Viji!! 🤗🤗🤗
Yes, taking off from Swasan's reference to Banaras and Prayag, I thought this pilgrimage would be a wonderful way for the four to reflect and heal. Plus, I did have in mind that Ragini needed her sins washed away...

Heheh. thanks!
I thought that scene in which Ragini pushes Swara was very powerful but I don't know why they don't follow through on the stories they themselves laid down!! 😲 It would really work - audiences love stories about redemption, but they just go on with Kavita, Kavya... pffft. 🤢

For Swara to forgive and trust Ragini with her mind was one thing but her entire being was so wary of the dangerous water... Ragini's move sort of tied in her own survival with Swara's - you die, then I die... a powerful way to gain her trust, and of communicating to her sister, I mean it this time, and here, I stake my life to prove it.

Serial wala Lakshya 😕🤢 - like Ragini herself said, bina reed ke haddi wala aadmi!!! 😆😆😆 He's horrible! Great pity - they could have used him to his potential at least. Unforgivable of the creatives!!😡

Yep, Sanskaar was a bit worried - just a vague worry. Emotions running too high and too much river all around! Not a great combo as history has shown him. He was the one person able to understand her at that point and he did, very sweetly!

Yes, Ragini's remorse about Lakshya playing up just at the time when he DOES NOT want her overthinking things and getting upset again... As for being shut out - he's hating it!

Waiting for the next chapters, dear---and I shall be more prompt in my replies. Slowly recovering now.

Very sorry to hear you've been ill! 😕 I've been travelling a lot, so haven't been coming much to the forum... hope you get better real soon!! 🤗

The Best of Things
(Ragya, Swasan) Fan Fiction Series +16
By Bubble

Chapter 63

Unable to bear Ragini's continued silence and her absorption in her own deep thoughts, Lakshya held her by the hand that evening and took her on a long rambling walk along the Ganga. Swara and Sanskaar had gone once again to the Manasa Devi temple, the famous hill shrine atop Haridwar's Bilva Parvat. There was a special puja that Swara wanted to get done.

Lakshya directed their footsteps away from the crowded lanes of the central market places. After a while, they stood leaning against a railing. Into the silence, Ragini swallowed and said, "Laksh, hum kuch kehna chah rahe the aapse..."

There it came! A cold dread swept through his heart. He wasn't going to like it, whatever it was. He turned to look at her.

She took a deep breath. "Woh hum soch rahe the... hum apni galatiyon ka sudhaar karne chahte hain, Lakshya!"

"Kar toh rahi ho!" he said slowly.

"Haan, par... humne... humne aapke saath bhi bohut galat kiya hai," she stammered.

"Yeh sab purani baatein hain, Ragini!" he said, frowning.

She shook her head and looked out into the river. "Hum... hum aapko riha karna chahte hain, Lakshya!" she managed.

W*F! "Kya?! Kya karna chahti ho?" he said incredulously.

"Hum aapko... humse... riha karna chahte hain," she told him nervously.

Silence.

"Paagal ho gayi ho, Ragini?" he asked dangerously.

She looked back at him, a little piteously.

He digested what she had said, his heart thumping madly. Fear and anger were now both coursing through his blood.

"Oh! Aur phir?" he asked, with an assumption of spurious calm, as if he was listening to a fascinating story. "Phir... tum mujhe chodkar chali jaaogi... aur mera kya hoga?"

She looked away, swallowing. "Aap free ho jaayenge, Lakshya! Hum zabardasti aapke galey pade the, aur aapne bohut achche se nibhaya bhi hai... but that doesn't have to be that way... you can be free. You took it upon yourself to bring me back and you have! I can take responsibility for myself now, and my actions. And you... you can live on your own terms!"

"Have you gone crazy?" he ground out, holding her tightly by the shoulders, shaking her a little. His voice rose with every word. "Shaadi ki hai humne! Gudde gudiyon ka khel nahin hai!"

She winced. Passersby looked at them curiously, but they were little distance from the pathway.

"Kehna kya chahti ho tum? Koi short-term project tha yeh sab? Haan!?" He raised a finger, "Listen to me, Ragini! This is absolutely the last time you bring up this stupid, insane idea. This is NOT something to play at. We're married and we stay that way - all our effing lives till death do us part! And by that I mean a ripe old age. Is that understood?"

"You make it sound like a life sentence!" she said, tears beginning to fall.

"Oh God!" He turned away in frustration and ran a hand through his hair. He took hold of himself and turned to her again.

He held her arms again, more gently this time, and looked at her face. "Kya khush nahin ho tum mere saath? Hmm? Bolo?"

"How can you ask me that, Lakshya? Aap jaante hain itne khush hum kabhi bhi nahin the!" she answered tremulously.

"Then? What's the problem?!" he demanded.

She looked up at him, stricken. "I want you to be happy as well!"

He took a deep breath. "I'm happy!" he spread his arms, "Look, I'm happy. I really enjoy being married to you... I'm happy, happy, happy!"

He was so nice! From the moment he had accepted her, he had never let her feel that this marriage had been forced upon him. "You didn't have a choice!" she said.

"I still chose you!" he exclaimed.

"But you didn't have a choice, Lakshya!" she insisted.

"This is ridiculous, Ragini!" he said, with a bite to his words, "I'm not going to let you upset and destabilize everything all over again. Jab ji chaha shaadi karli, phir ji kiya chchod diya... it doesn't work that way! Aur pata hai tumhara problem kya hai? Balance nahin hai tum mein! You had bent one way and now you're tilting all the way to the other side! You just need to be in the middle, but nahin... I have to manage you all the time!"

She flinched at that.

"Ab chalo waapis," he ordered, "and not a word of this nonsense to Sanskaar and Swara, do you hear me?"
