Sakura,

Fabulous work on this spin-off. I loved your spin off title and the title for the one-shot. The quotes were so apt for each of the three scenes.

I loved the portrayal of Annapurna. Her feelings when Sanskaar left due to her betrayal and that persistent guilt that is present within her. It is really well written. When everything just hits her and she sits on the sofa because she just destroyed her relation as a mother to keep the other relations in the house intact was brilliant.

I always wondered how could Lakshya act in such a cruel manner with Swara if he was the actual killer. He knew she didnt do anything and he still condemned her. So much for loving her, huh? This part answered that for me. Thank you. Brilliant portrayal of the relation between DP and Lakshya here. DP really hates Sanskaar and he protects Lakshya without any sense of right or wrong. Its really sad.

This part had the feels to it. I could literally see that guilt in her and then the way she finally discovers how wrong her husband truly is. It was so fantastic to visualize her realisation and the determinate way she finally found to give herself some peace over the constant guilt. Brilliant.!

Please update soon :)

-V

P.S.: Glad to see more of your works so soon. I thought would have to wait for some time to read such amazing writing again. Hats off and keep writing. 😊

Thank you V,
I really wanted to explore Annapurna more as Icarus did not give her enough space. There are some other things left unsaid as well which I hope to catch up here. Meantime, I was thrilled to read how well you captured the feelings Annapurna went through in past and present. Yeah, I though Lakshya had to be explained as well, and tried to do that.
I will update as soon as I can.
love,
Sakura
PS: I was already working on Calypso when FK ended, my next would be rather delayed I fear😊

Hi Sanya,
I know Icarus left so many unanswered questions behind, regarding these background characters. I will try to answer them here. As I felt Annapurna should have been more explored I started with her and worked my way to Durga Prasad and Lakshya. I'm glad you liked this one.
Thank you so much😊
love,
Sakura

Viji dearest 🤗 and thousand more 🤗

I was working on Calypso by the time I finished FK, it was pre planned but I wanted to hold on to that surprise a little longer. That's why I didn't mention it at the end of FK.

I haven't started working on Spells yet, it would be some time in mid February I guess. Till then Calypso will keep you entertained.

I know we have a mutual fascination for that lady and her many layered persona, here in Icarus is her most beloved self as far as I'm concerned. I couldn't do much justice to her in the SS itself as it was written from SK and Casper's point of views. So here I grabbed the first opportunity to explore her deeper.

I wanted this to be a little different hence added the quotes, all three of them are my favorites and I'm so happy you feel they fit in with the image I tried to build up.

Yes, this one gives an explanation on many levels, why Lakshya did what he did, how Annapurna came to know of the truth, what she knew and what she worked out.

I wanted to portray the fear of the wife and the power of the mother within her, in that last section, it had many layers within...I'm sure you felt them as much as I did.

Ah as for the title,
the word as I'm sure you know means concealing which is what most of the characters in Icarus keep doing until the finale. Then here the Calypso is Annapurna indeed, but in some future shots it will be Ragini too.

This means a lot, you know that already, thank you so much dearest.

loads of love,
Saku😊

Yup I know concealment meaning inherent in the name...but somehow I missed thinking of Ragini. 😛 She really won't be pleased!! 😆 I was thinking of the name as referring either to Annapurna for obvious reasons, or for Casper...since she holds so much back from SK initially.

Ah so one of the forthcoming shots delves into Ragini. Fascinating. 😊 I really love exploring and reading about that character. I see her as a formidable, Machiavellian opponent and delving into her psyche would be enthralling.

You know my love for Icarus as I told you on that excellent piece and why it was so:). So as soon as I read Calypso, I was thrilled! Given my obsession with anything related to Illiad and Odyssey and indeed Troy, the name of the nymph that managed to detain the unusual Odysses for 7 (or 5 or 1 depending which account you believe!) years on Ogygia, inspires deep interest. And I see that this will weave all this in with your usual finesse with this style of writing. Taking a divert here but I always liked the somewhat tangential connects with the Odysses- calypso myth and that of Gilgamesh and how Siduri played a role for him. Back in terms of Calypso, as the name itself derives from concealing or concealment how appropriate for this piece which is in some way a prequel to Icarus? But a sensibly withheld prequel as otherwise the suspense of Icarus would have been lost.

The beginning scene displays the compelling Sanskaar who can be so calmly forceful and hit harder than anyone else when needed. And his intended effect on an Annapurna who is much like the queen I see her doing whatever is necessary for her Ogygia (after all the Maheshwaris live on their own weird little island!) was masterfully done.

Then the scene with lakshya and more importantly the Durga Prasad we saw in Icarus- a truly ruthless scion, was really interesting too. And it now casts so much light on what transpired in Icarus so am glad Sapna encouraged you to post this. All very gripping and I am desperate to lap up all parts. As the Winter Series was the fave of the lovely Winter Ladies, this humble lawyer lays claim on Icarus:).

PS: do you hold a stock of drafted pieces that you don't always post? I get fascinated by how different people write:). And then do you revisit it and make amends if you do decide to post or just post it? I truly admire your ability to work on multiple sections in that case. I get so obsessed over the current thing I am working on, each part of my writing brain then gets absorbed by it:(. Xoxo

PPS: I have assumed with Annapurna being calypso for now as essentially Calypso only detains Odysses for a fixed amount of time and then sets him on his way to return him to his destiny which is with Penelope, not her so that was my reasoning but if I am wrong you'll tell me:). Or is the reference to Swara as Calypso in the sense that Casper then showed SK the way back to his past and he had to return there to right things? Or an option I have totally missed? 😆

Hi Shru,😃
I know Icarus is your favorite, you made me believe it rather strongly by your awesome comments there. And as for Calypso, yeah, I share that interest for the myths associated with her as well as the literal meaning of the word, it was one reason for choosing it I mean all over Icarus everyone is concealing or trying to conceal something right? This will be where their secrets are revealed.
As we saw in Icarus SK has a wicked tongue, he knows exactly when and where an arrow should be shot, to make the maximum pain and damage. That is what he is doing here in spite of his own pain.
I wanted to cast some light on that dark father son duo, glad you liked that. Oh, Icarus is all yours, feel free to lay your claim, the winter ladies currently rule the winter land😊
It just send me somewhere near cloud nine when you ask me this question. You, who is a master in writing, is interested in the way I plan my stories is nothing short of an honor to me.
I usually write a basic plot first, as to what has happened and who are involved, then I write down all the scenes I imagine in that context, later I choose what I would add in the piece and what I would leave out, I arrange them in a meaningful pattern and write them expanded with dialog and descriptions. So there are tons of sketched out scenes I have with me, for each of my stories that I did not use anywhere. When I plan a spin off I revisit those drafts as you guessed, develop them in to stand along pieces like I did in Winds of Winter and post them.
Ah, here Annapurna is the Calypso, as she is finally giving the denied peace to Sanskar. In the future ones it will be Ragini trying to confine Lakshya by the truth she holds over him.
You will see how it turns out.
Loads of love,
Sakura
