nah guys not just the show. its the mentality of the people around. we move in a very tight community of mumbai, shiv and i grew up amidst them, they're educated and affluent yet their prejudices will boggle your mind. i think it would be easier if i came from a traditional family or if shiv and i were raising a traditional family. we're not. the other day my stepson came back from summer school and said that a boy teased him and said i wasn't his aai cos you can't have two mums thats weird. i spoke to the kid's mother who decided to show sympathy for me having to raise another person's kid. one of my MIL's friend had once asked her what made her agree to marrying shiv with me, he couldve done better with a 'pure' karada girl. i don't want my kids exposed to these prejudices before they are grown enough, with sound minds to judge right from wrong. thats why living here is scary. abroad my indian friends are people i choose to surround myself with, who aren't so skewed in their sense of right and wrong. the shows i watch are not my idea of india so don't worry!
