For those not in the ATs!

Hello folks. Good morning. Yesterday's movie was awesome and I'm caught up with Swaragini. Ok since there was so much buzz about the Ragya friendship scene, let me start there. I enjoyed it. And no, it was not anything like Lucky Shona's friendship- who fight 70% of the time but also understand each other 100%. Ragini knows that Laksh is a good guy and she understands that his love for Swara is true. The only thing I found objectionable is that Laksh was comparing Swara's understanding with Ragini's. The writers had already established that Swara understood Laksh but she didn't take his crap and pat him on the back, thats what Laksh loves about her. so that part of the scene was just clear fan pandering for ragya ppl. But the rest was a friendship that I'm glad develops. my only problem with this is if they're trying to set up Laksh for a jump aboard the ragya ship- no matter how much screen time you give ragya, it just won't be believable after giving swarya so much space to develop, cvs would need to spend the same 3 months building up ragya, by then swarya fans toh will leave, even laksh fans will be like- this guy is a fickle finicky loser. we out. which will leave the show with probs less than half the viewers. laksh will essentially look like a dil phek aashique and noone going forward will take him seriously. i will have quit of course. and many of my lovelies here I'm sure will follow. Ok back to the scene, the intense look Laksh gets on his face was thinking about Swara's birthday, not about how hot a speaking Ragini is. So chill bacche log! He had a seizure just hearing about Swara's bleeding finger. guys dost bohut milte hain zindagi mein. many stay with you for a lifetime and are forever understanding and supportive. par woh dost jo tumhare dil ke sabse kareeb hain, thats only one. they've taken a long ass time establishing that its Swara for Laksh. if they ruin Swarya now, they'll ruin the show. Ragya can happen but it won't be because Laksh suddenly changes his mind. thats foolish degrading to both Swara Ragini and himself and extremely immature. And Ragini isn't really being like Swara. She's just saying what she wants and not being a doll. she's taking one of Swara's finer qualities and making it her own- she's pretty much still soft spoken 1940's model Ragini just recently converted to color from black and white. she's saying what she thinks is right and thats good. its not like she's become muhphat and teasing like Swara. she's still very respectful just frank. i hope this is genuine cos this Ragini will make for a VERY good story with snacker the angry young man(IPKKND feels!!!!!). you all thought she was being overly bubbly- not really she was just being very frank and cut the crap with everyone. i like. and as far as Laksh giving her a look when she returns his things, i thought it was a I'm sorry i hurt you look, which is fair enough. and i liked that he dissolved the awkwardness of when Ragini got weirded out trying to feed him, cos for him you can feed your friend, its not a gesture of intimacy but of friendship and care. so frankly, i don't mind a solid Ragya friendship cos i really do believe in Laksh and his strength and conviction. If he can be bold about Swara to DP, this is defo not a whimsical thing.
Today's highlight of the episode is by no means the ragya scene but was defo swaragini for me- firstly cos swara's in love, i'll wait till she says it to rejoice, but she in love and ragini can READ that. if after having such a strong intuition into her sister's heart, if ragini still turns genuinely negative, i'll be upset enough to quit. and the last scene between swaragini brings forth a very important revelation- whilst ragini has taken on one of Swara's better qualities, swara instead of taking on ragini's calm composure which would do her good, takes on her fear. swara is TERRIFIED, its the fear of the child thats grown up without a family and wants to keep this one SO badly that she is willing to kill any ounce of precious love in her heart to keep it intact. its not just a fear for herself of dadi and shekhar but a fear for her mother and her upbringing coming into question, as if admitting to loving laksh will prove what everyone says about her single mother upbringing to be true. cos lets face it, no matter how accepting ragini is of everything, at the end of the day ppl will say swara chinaoing laksh from ragini as is expected from a bin baap ki beti. its a sad cycle. i wish shekhar and swara would get some time like ragu and shomi. cos otherwise this will never cease to be a perpetual fear in Swara's heart- she'll lose her father. Shekhar's reaction to the video will only close down on swara's fears of course she won't admit her love to shomi.

I can't believe I'm saying this and please don't hurt me, BUUUTTT, today's RagYa scene was beyond adorable! I actually felt sparks between them for the first time! That said, I'd have to agree with you Teju in that it probably *wasn't* romantic. I noticed Namish expression was kinda weird today -- he had the same expression the entire time LOL. I interpreted as Laksh finally getting to know the real Ragini. He was admiring her. Although RagYa have known each other for a while, they never actually knew each other. But today Ragini finally let down her guard and was herself. It was great and Laksh realized that. A wonderful scene and the beginning of a great friendship I think!

Speaking of Ragini -- she was on a roll today! Loved her! I actually have always had a soft spot for Ragini and today she demonstrated why. So polite, soft-spoken, and frank. She retained her sweetness while being firm. It's such a change from the outspoken bold Swara who dominated the screen for the past few weeks! Ragini's music scene, scene with Dadi, Sumi, Swara, Laksh were all brilliant! She really is a wonderful woman!

And now coming to my take on Swara. Fair warning first -- tbh Swara is not my favourite character. That's Laksh. While I do admire Swara's boldness and outspokeness, I also think she comes off as a tad too over-bearing. And her recent behaviour towards Laksh, although arguably justifiable, is a little too harsh for my tastes. As such, I'm not very inclined towards her or analyzing her. But since you requested, I'll try to (I actually see you as the Swara expert Teju!).

I think Swara is still having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that Laksh loves her. In her mind, he's still technically meant for Ragini. So him having feelings for her is wrong. But her having feelings for him is absolutely blasphemous in her eyes! So she doesn't want to acknowledge that she has any feelings for him. However, it's clear that she does like him. She does have concern for him. She did consider him a really good friend. She does think it's technically awesome that her best friend and love could be the same person (Ragini's words kept on ringing in Swara's head). But at the same time, she also thinks it's wrong for her. Giving into her feelings would also put a lot at stake. I think in her eyes, right now, she is the glue binding the family together (?). She knows the extent Dadi can go too. She feels the need to protect Ragini. So if she's not there mentally or physically, then what will happen to her family? I strongly feel that in both SwaRag's eyes, love = marriage. So for Swara, accepting she loves Laksh would also mean that she's ready to marry him. But she isn't. If she shows feelings for Laksh, Dadi will use it to break apart her small little family. I think this is where your points about Shekher come in. As much as she loves Shekher, I think she still has doubts on his ability to keep his family together. That's why she sees herself so integral to keeping everyone together. And I think along with these larger familial worries, there are some personal worries mixed in as well. Swara doesn't seem the type of girl who dreamt of getting married like Ragini. She grew up in a woman dominated household with no male figure. So falling in love is in itself such a scary and foreign concept to her. Although Swara may be more bold and outspoken, I feel like Ragini is a tad bit more emotionally stronger than her.

All these worries combine and cause Swara to reject the fact that she can have feelings for Laksh. And in order to make sure that she doesn't have feeligns for him/ can't have feelings for him, she lashes out at him. She blames him to make herself see what a terrible guy he is. She blames him to make herself realize that he's not worth loving. I think she thinks that if she tries hard enough, she can forget about the entire Laksh love quissa and what dilemma's it poses to her (hence her covering her eyes and trying to block out Laksh confession). But she's gonna have to eventually come to the realization that Laksh is a good guy and that she has fallen for him and that she will have to eventually let her family fend for themselves.

Sorry about how crappy it is. Like I said, I'm not good with Swara :(

ty! i love how satisfying your posts are ishu its not badly written at all, if you visit the swarya AT you'll see how badly my posts on swara are written, laksh or rather lucky is my fave too and often when i write about swara its a rage vomit. I'm forever angry at her. because i hate self important characters. i use to watch pavitra rishta and i liked arjun purvi till arjun got married and it became clear that purvi thought she was the glue holding the world together and created roz ka tamasha for other ppl's bhalai in the process ruining their lives and just being so self righteous that it was suffocating. swara is becoming the same. like literally, as long as ragini is happy, noone in the garodia house really cares about swara's self torture. if ragini says she's happy about swarya other than dadi everyone will be like ya! we want swarya too. its always been ragini thats been in control of their family situation, with swara pandering to their existent and non-existent needs. i do agree that swara is emotionally much weaker than ragini simply because she's insanely insecure about her family's love which ragini has never been. i didn't want her to be like i love laksh immediately, but i wanted them to really explore her insecurities and vulnerabilities and have laksh be that reassuring rock because she MUST have trust issues with men having never seen a strong example of a man's love growing up. but they're just showing stupid reasons like dadi's approval which should really be a mote point in any of the marriages. and ragini ki khushi, like she is happy. swara's hero complex to protect ragini unnecessarily is such a snoozefest. as for the ragya scene, i really liked it. i do want them to develop a friendship cos if they go the sangini way she'll need that support in lucky and swaara cos thats gonna be an EPIC war between this cool poised and assertive rags and snacker the baseless revenge taker. but i just don't really like ragya romantically at all (if i go into that explanation it'll be forever long). their friend's chemistry isn't the same as swara and laksh's and i like that. i want swarya to be together but with ragini behind them. if laksh's long developed love for swara and his brave boldness about his feelings can't last past a ragya friendship, then it wasn't much of anything and also this serial is hell bent on glorifying shekhar the silent suffrage lover who was an ideal beta but never quit loving shomi (although he destroyed all of their lives through his inaction) rather than the Laksh kind of love- bold unmoving and unapologetic by showing that as his whimsy.

Very well explained - Past few days i got the feeling I was still watching because of two/ three things:

1. Durgaprasad and his handsome shining pate.
2. Lakshya himself - am liking the stronger more mature version we're seeing of him.
3. YOU GUYS!
I really look forward to making like an aatma and coming over to read some clear headed rational analysis and discussion - Thank you very much!
