There is nothing about whether Duryodhan was monogamous or not. There is no mention of any Bhanumati in Vyasa, although in some other places, she's mentioned as the sister of Susharma, the ruler of Trigartha. Whereas the abduction that Duryodhan and Karna did was that of a princess of Kalinga. That kingdom's ruler who fought on the Kaurava side in the war was Shrutayudha, who died while trying to protect Jayadrath on day 14

In Bengali Mb Bhanumati was not kalinga princess...she was bhagdutta kanya who was one of the strongest ally of kauravas.

Thanks a lot...Really wanted to clear this...
It's really unlikely that Kings n princes of that time would be monogamous wen women were allowed to practise polyandry n Niyog...

Again...not sure...So would like someone to clarify...

In both Bhagwatam and MB (KMG), Balarama returns from Hastinapur and tells his parents that he feels Dury would be a good match for Subhi. There is nothing formal anywhere. Meanwhile Arjun has already come to Dwaraka in disguise as part of his 12 year exile and he and Subhi meet and fall in love. Arjun goes to Krishna, who advises him to kidnap Subhi and ensure that it is seen by everybody that Subhi is driving the chariot (implying that it was Subhi who kidnapped Arjun), because Krishna feels that in case a swayamwar is held the result might be unpredictable. Nowhere has it been mentioned that Balarama promised Subhi to Dury.

Thanks.

However the part which says Subhadra kidnapped Arjun is not part of Mahabharat, atleast KMG.
This scene is in Harivamsa(please correct if I am wrong)...in Mahabharat, Arjun kidnaps her n Subhadra was probably unaware of it.
And Arjun drives the chariot.

That's part of Bhagwatam and Harivamsa both. So did you visit the Karaga festival in Bangalore, which I believe you were planning to? I did and it was beautiful.

No I didnt but I watched it on TV...I was enthralled by seeing the number of people who were present.
I didnt know Draupadi was worshipped in this magnitude in Bangalore...
The Dharmaraya Temple is quite far from where I stay but I hope I can visit it next time...
