In KMG, when Duryodhana tells Dhritarashtra of his complaints, he talks of Draupadi and her maids laughing at him. But the incident is not there in the earlier part where Duryodhana's mishaps are described.

Once again, O king, beholding a similar lake that is really full of water but which I mistook for a crystal surface, I fell into it. At that, Bhima with Arjuna once more laughed derisively, and Draupadi also accompanied by other females joined in the laughter. That paineth my heart exceedingly.
Sabha Parva, Section XLIX

So my guess is, BRC put a dialogue for dramatic effect there

I support you brother. We should revolt. Andhe Ka Putr Andha comes in the next episode . But what they showed today the way they insulted the legendary character Draupadi insulted by Sisupal in her own mansion,The Maharani of Indraprasth had no security at all? And Karna reached before her husbands? Just to make Draupadi apologize for the wrong she had not done, Cvs can stoop to such levels? Unimaginable. Is she any Hindi Film heroine? SidT had crossed all the limits by insulting Draupadi,One among the Pancha Kanyas and a great legend of sorts. As for Pankhuri she has to go miles to reach one hundredths of the level of Puja's performance.

Thanks Geetha...n yes...in KMG...the laughing incident is there only when Duryodhan grumbles...
In the actual scene...there is no mention of Draupadi laughing. In fact it was the Pandavas(except Yudisthir) who were laughing...especially Bhima...please correct me if I am wrong.

This is kind of similar to the incident where Lord Krishna blames Karna for being a part of Bhima's poisoning...whereas in the actual incident Karna's name is not mentioned. Please correct me if I am wrong...

So it's difficult to say whether we should take the actual incident into account or the later narration.

Jamy...I have absolutely NO idea of Bhasa...😆 but I remember having read that it was he who had added the heaven thing in the mainstream epic...I know KMG has that heaven scene...but apparently it was added by Bhasa later...Not sure...

Anyway...if we remove all divinity then clearly that scene is an interpolation.
How can flowers fall from heaven like that...unless that scene has some greater metaphor to it.

Lakshmi...even if we remove all such Panchakanys tags from Draupadi..even then this creative liberty is unbearable...
As u rightly pointed out...the Empress has no protection?

And my question is...how did so many men enter her bedroom? Was it allowed in those days to enter a Queen's bedroom by so many men?

One thing has really bothered me...
Who are these other females?
Could it be the other co-wives or maids?

I dont think maids would even dare to laugh at a royal guest...so much so that people notice them.

@Amrita - I don't believe these showering flowers unless there were helicopters arranged already by Dury. I just quoted it to show that it is a part of actual epic. I don't remember reading flowers showering on Dury in Urubhangam. He sees something like forest-fire surrounding him before he dies, AFAIR. So I don't find any possibility of Bhasa adding it to the epic. If you are asking for metaphor, from what I understood, all I can say now is Pandavas were ashamed of their own misdeeds in the war and them admitting it was the victory of Dury. What else can it be? Dury was no good guy for it to be something else otherwise.
Comparing Drau's laugh and Krishna accusing Karna of poisoning is not a good comparison. Coz Karna is there when poisoning is mentioned. Only when we prove Karna was not Drona's student, we can prove Karna was innocent in poisoning. Without it, we cannot. Draupadi's laugh is not like that. She is not seen laughing where Dury falls, but Dury mentions it to Dhrit. Three chances are there - 1) Dury lied that she laughed. 2) She laughed but interpolators removed it but forgot to edit Dury's dialogue. 3) Interpolators added Drau's laugher to Dury's dialogue to make Drau look like a villain and save the face of Pandavas. I am too tried to write further how 3rd option is possible but it can also be the case.😆

Actually it could be maids, because there is reference to menials laughing earlier. And if co wives, he surely wouldn't have used the term females.

All three options are highly possible...It is difficult to say wat is true.
But wat really baffles me is how this laughter is highlighted so much...

In the epic...there are people killing each other...molesting women...n so much of atrocious things n Kaliyugis are still stuck with a laughter...n worse...the whole blame is shifted to one person wen so many others were also laughing...

Not saying Draupadi was right...if she at all laughed at a guest, then it was indeed not very graceful...but wat can be ignored as a spur of the moment is shown as the 'cause for war'.
I distinctly remember wen I was small I knew that the war took place bcoz Draupadi had laughed at Duryodhan...Now I laugh at this whole theory...😆
