Super sangam episode Sat 23July.

Samaira :- A good performance, but the songs didn’t suit her voice at all. Could’ve chosen something else.

Soyab :- v good, enjoyed Chalat musafir the most. 👍

Aruna:- A tough song rendered v well. 👍

Arya:- loved her in this episode. She sang more khulke , should open up more. But the lyrics were clear,& the songs needed that soft flow which was apt for her voice, esp Agar Tum Saath Ho. Enjoyed it. 👍

Mani :- he rocked on the dhol. 👍👍. Absolutely awesome , his rendition as well his playing the dhol. Loved it.

Rituraj :- Though his voice didn’t suit HR’s songs, this boy will never give us any room for complaints. My ‘oh no’ when he started HR’s song, soon became ‘wow’ 👍

Pranjal :- His voice is made for such songs. Rendered superbly with the right feel. Loved it. 👍

Rohan & Pratyush :- yet again Rohan scores.. 👍. What a bundle of talent this boy is! 👍. Pratyush gets to ride piggy-back on him… still the difference is so stark clear.
Sayisha :- extremely good, but that zing factor of Sayisha is missing, again. I am being harsh on her, evaluating her on her own benchmarks. But again, like Rituraj, no room for flaws. 👍

Faiz:- Two wonderful melodies rendered soulfully.. mesmerising. His tonal quality is like PDs - he just needs to start to get you hooked. We all knew he would get Hawayein. Tum se hi was my wishlist for this episode. Got that plus the bonus of Shayad… 👌👌. Loved loved loved..

Chetanya :- Sada Haq was another wishlist of mine, I thought it will be a Chetanya-Aruna duet, Chetanya didnt work for me. Nagada was better.

My top 3 of the day..

Asides:-

* Jhonka Hawa Ka :- Pawan… now left, now right… thanks to the ever-so-dependable editorial team! Heck, they can’t manage one episode of one show properly without loo-breaks..🤣🤣، ye toh super sangam hai bhai. Ye toh Hona hi tah. Cut some slack here…😀

* Sayli Cam became HR Cam for one day. Oh well, b’day boy needed extra coverage… Cut some slack again.. 😀. But seriously, never thought I will get to say this, HR Cam was better than SayliCam.. 🤣…is that a compliment to HR?? Go figure.. 🤣

* Duitaara is slowly out from CCU to ICU.. still a long way to go … but there is hope still .

* PD was sorely missed during Mani’s segment. Can only imagine what raptures he would’ve got into considering Chalat Musafir dholak part.

* Pranjal -PD dance moves & moonwalk…👍👌. Bring it on … we want more…

* Niladhri on sitar & Zitar..👌♥️. Another wish fulfilled. 👍

* Kuch Bhi moment of the day:- So, Imtiaz would’ve signed up Chetanya in place of Ranbir in Rockstar.😳😱

* Zen Award of the day :- to Imtiaz Ali for delivering the above lines, deadpan without cracking up. 😀

* Let -eyes-speak Award :- Aru listening to Imtiaz on the above.🤣

The comics were good, esp Gaurav ( Uditji) & the other guy who mimics SRK. I have watched one earlier season of laughter champions & used to like Nitish Shetty & Pandey with his Ana.
Pandey & Ana were superb, while Shetty was a disappointment - he came with exactly the same ghisa-pita set of yore, even with the character names intact … talking of names he made Aru into Anurita.. or did I hear it wrong?? No time to re-check.
A superb episode overall. The kids had a blast , Soyab was actually about to roll with laughter 🤣

All the kids got to perform solos 👍, with the exception of Rohan-Pratyush.

You are right about:

HR Cam 😄

"Anurita". I don't know why but it happens to people. I think in the beginning even Runa Ashish used to struggle to get her name right - she admitted as much in her famous first joint interview. She also used to say Anurita. And in Chandni's Haldi ritual, in one of the videos you can hear a female voice say "Arumati dono haath se lagaao" 😄

As I start watching, I suddenly realised. Are we going to see Aruna sing Mehbooba Mehbooba?

Sony Liv to the rescue today! Uploaded on time. I wonder what was the big secret yesterday that they wanted to guard till the end of episode 🙄

Samaira. Ab jo mile hain, Ui Maa Ui Maa. Well, by the standards Samaira set in the last 2 or 3 weeks, this was disappointing. And I don't understand why they cut the second song with just 1 line. She was the most improved but this one was back to the early days. Javed pointed out the difficult bits she sang well, but somehow it didn't connect for me. They gave her a DHD but 🤷

Aryananda. Dilbar, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Awesome 👍. Among her better performances. I would have liked to see a little more throw but still she did well. Alka Yagnik is not given to hyperbole but even she stood and applauded.

Rohan and Pratyush. Aditya said it right. Pehla show hai jahaan ek singer ke saath ek free milta hai 🙄. They sang Dekha Na Haye Re. Overall it was good but the difficult parts were again with Rohan. This is quite unfair to Rohan.

Sayisha. Mera Naam In Chin Chu, Yeh Mera Dil. Sayisha continues to be a top contender. She didn't get the "ba ba, ba ba" voice modulation right but overall she just breezed through these two songs as if she does it before breakfast every day. Another day where she didn't need to anchor her eyes on Pawandeep or her mom.

Faiz. Badan Pe Sitaare, Mast Bahaaron Ka. Incredible performance by Faiz. He is really beginning to peak now! Amazing throw, voice modulation!

Rituraj. Main Shayar Toh Nahin. Amazing performance once again. They should have given him also two songs. Rituraj is definitely one of the top 3 of this season.

Mani. Teri Galiyon Mein Na Rakhenge Kadam. Different from his usual high pitched songs and refreshing. Very well done. But he too got just one song - the second being a "request" by Aruna Irani. Maa O Meri Maa. He made every emotional with that second song, but somehow for me that was missing.

Pranjal. Yeh Kya Hua (interspersed with Bangla version). Pranjal sang well, but it didn't enrapture me as much as it seemed to enrapture PD and Arunita. There is a certain feel to this song which I felt was a little missing or at least a little less.

Chetanya, Aruna and Soyab didn't get to sing today. Unfair once again.

Team of the week went to Salman. In my view it should have gone to Arunita. Faiz was the best on both days, and Rohan was carrying the day for two contestants!

Top 5 : Pranjal, Arynanda, Mani, Samaira, Rohan. I disagree with 4 of these except Aryananda.

Bottom 3: not announced, random "no elimination" week 🤷

Medley for the guests: back to getting the captains to do it 🙄. Surprisingly Danish and Salman didn't jave anything to sing - or it was edited out. Arunita was the highlight here, needless to say.

Medley for Bhupinder Singh: clearly unrehearsed. Can't blame them for that, though. News may have come in late and this segment may have been hurriedly put together. Either PD messed up by singing when Sayli was supposed to, or Sayli jumped in where she wasn't supposed to. Hard to say. Just before Sayli started, Arunita nodded towards her as if to say now your part comes, but when Sayli was singing Arunita seemed to have an expression bordering on anger. But well, even in this unrehearsed segment, when PD and Arunita sang they were perfect. They started off out of sync but in 1 or 2 seconds they were in perfect harmony. It is as though their internal clocks are synchronised!

Samaira :- ab jo mile was just average, oi maa was good. Overall not a great performance. Definitely not deserving a DHD.

Aryananda :- A good start with Dilbar followed by Hum dil de chuke. I thought she went a bit off-key at a couple of places in the mukhda, but the antara was superbly sung. Girish’s band - esp saxo & clarinet, was top class in Hum dil … Actually that composition gets carried beautifully with these two instruments & a mellifluous tone with feel. Arya did justice here. 👍

Rohan -Pratyush :- Don’t know how long Pratyush’s luck is going to carry him through - till that time the team has decided that Rohan will carry him. 😳. An easy song, peppy feel , just right for Rohan. It should’ve gone as his solo. The minute Pratyush’s lines come, we can’t wait to hear Rohan.

Sayisha :- Mera naam was my wishlist. She gets another popular number too - Don. Both performed well. 👍.

Faiz :- Two Rafi classics rendered with great aplomb. 👍👍. Comparison with PD becomes inevitable, he has the same tonal quality; whether it is arijit’s or Raif’s numbers - chameleon like it just adapts.. Wonderful. This boy is on a fast track towards that trophy.

Rituraj :- Another hit. Mein shayar toh nahin is a breeze for him. But just listen to the feel he puts in, esp the line ‘ magar ye haseen’ …it was really haseen to hear. 👍👌

Mani :- a much -needed soft melody ‘teri galiyon mein’ of Rafi. Actually, after his Kya Hua , I was wanting to hear another soft Rafi number from him. Beautifully rendered. 👌

Pranjal :- Ye kya Hua went better than my expectation. He didn’t drag the last syllables , hence there was no induced pathos. Overall an enjoyable performance.

Salman gets Team of the Week.

A no elimination week - yet again. Who are they trying to protect? Guesses??

Top 5 … don’t agree fully.

Asides….

* The tributes to the guests & to Bhupinder was done well, but only with captains & no kids. Could be the kids didn’t have time to prepare. But how come Danish was marginalised in both?
* PD & Aru of course rocked the tribute segments.

* PD - as part of Dilbar chorus with 3 female voices- a perfect blend as well as a stand-out 👍

Byju’s out-of-syllabus moment :- Sayli butting in during the tribute, or Pawan with poor revision?? 🤔. Either way, Pawan , true to his name breezed through this with a smile…

* Lagta hai DHD pe GST lag gayi. In short supply today. Couple of deserving ones were left out.

* Faiz & Rituraj not in top 5.

* Soyab, Aruna & Chetanya excluded today & Mani, Rituraj get only one song. And here I was thinking that TCT finally discovered the word ‘Format’ after yesterday’s fair distribution.

And finally…Javed Ali has been signed in as Brand Ambassador for Asian Paints Textured Walls. 🤣.

Well, I said bordering on anger because it wasn't anger but there was definitely something there.

PD didn't mess up the lyrics at least : perhaps she was supposed to sing it - the lyrics on the screen in front come with the names of the singers as we saw in the Mithali Raj episode when Faiz and PD were singing. So either one of them messed up.
