Yes Super Sangam is today only. It's going to be a long episode, from 7 PM to 10 or 10:30.

Super Sangam. With India's Laughter Champion. 23 July 2022. Guests Imtiaz Ali and Niladri Kumar came in after Rituraj's performance.

I started around 2 hours in, at 9 PM. As usual tuned in to Sony Liv, only to find that this episode was not yet available. 😡

Hopefully this will be uploaded and I can catch up on what I have missed.

Mani. A different song for him and that too with playing the Dholak. Mani excelled on both fronts. Really commendable performance. Even Girish Vishwa was happy with the Dholak performance. As was Pawandeep 🙂. Received the SSN. And was deserving.

Rituraj. Tera Suroor, Jhalak Dikhla Ja, Aashiq Banaya Aapne. Wow! Very different genre for Rituraj and he hit the ball out of the park, as the saying goes. He showed his versatility and range today. The DHD turned out to be a prank but it was well deserved.

Faiz. Naa Hai Yeh Paana, Hawaayein. Shaayad on request by Imtiaz Ali. Brilliant in all 3. He continues to cement his position at the top. He has a bright future. Imtiaz Ali said I want you to sing for my film - but yeah, we've heard that one before 😄

Chetanya. Sadda Haq and Nagaada. One of his best performances to date. Very well done.

All the comic acts I saw were good. Kudos to them. Especially for keeping it clean, by and large.

Other things to note:

Editing bloopers. I caught several instances where they would zoom in to PD and Arunita where PD was seated to the left, only to immediately switch to a long shot which showed his seated to the right 😄

Also. Arunita laughing out loud and elbowing PD. They showed the same shot at least 3 times, and that too in the same act 😄

Arunita doesn't know what is a poker face. Her face gives away exactly what she is thinking, as we have seen so often. When Imtiaz Ali told Chetanya that "if I had met you earlier I would have taken you in Rockstar instead of Ranveer", Arunita's expression clearly said "yeh thoda zyaada ho gaya" 😄

😄. Same for me too. I think they upload on Sony Liv after the episode ends.

During Idol they probably used to upload at the start of the episode, and hence clips would start appearing on IG even before rhe episode ended on TV. So they probably changed the model now.

Such a fantabulous episode! I only watched the kids and skipped the rest though. The song selection and the performances were great this time. One of the bests this season 🥳 Seriously, cannot pick favorites. Everyone did well.

Samaira - keeps impressing me every week. Not her usual genre, but she did really well. They modified the lyrics to 'fancy' instead of 'sexy' for Banno Tera Swagger which was weird lol.

Aruna - I was very doubtful of her singing Ek Chatur Naar. But she did an outstanding job. Could nitpick and say she does high frequency voices where it's not required, and tbh her voices for Manna Dey and Kishore Kumar weren't very distinctive, but she showed impeccable skills and techniques. Might be her best till date 👏

Aryananda - One of her better performances. She was pretty audible lol, which itself is an improvement from all her other performances. Though I'm still missing the clarity in her voice. I think she did the first song better. She sang Agar Tum Saat Ho really well, but I just couldn't enjoy it much in her voice 🤪

Soyeb - Loved it. There are three kids whose voices I really like - Faiz, Rohan and Soyeb. He did all three numbers well. I was grooving throughout. Would love to repeat Chalat Musafir in his voice. Also, idk but his singing style reminds me a lot of Salman lol. The same accent, the same head tilt 😆

Mani - Ha!! He was soooo good on the dhol Sang amazingly too. But once again, why all those alaaps, like really, on Jhoom Barabar Jhoom? 🤔

Rituraj - He justified all three songs like the incredible singer he is, but umm, HR songs?? It doesn't suit his voice. Can't complain though, he still made them enjoyable. Rendered all of them with finesse.

Pranjal - like Alka said, he owns the songs he sings. Loved the performance. Seems like Kailash Kher songs are his genre.

Rohan-Pratyush - Uff Rohann!!!! He dominated the entire duet. Absolute joy to watch him. Though Pratyush did well, it feels like he needs Rohan's support to stay relevant. His solo performances have never stood out, while Rohan does well in both.

Sayisha - Nailed Ek Do Teen. Gave perfect expressions and nakhras in her singing. Though I felt like her voice wasn't suitable for the song. Might be one of the weaker ones in this episode.

Faiz - Agreed with Imtiaz. He is ready for playback. Sang like a professional at a concert today. Both renditions - Tum Se Hi and Hawayein - were beautiful. Blessed voice. Also, I never fail to get goosebumps every time he sings Shayad. His voice has literally become my favorite for the song. No wonder he is asked to repeat it every episode. Although, he had it easier than rest of the kids. Idk if doing just romantic numbers would be enough.

Chetanya - heaps of praise even before performance? Umm, alright 🤪 Anyways, Sadda Haq... what can I say. He ruined the song imo. Can't blame him. It is a difficult song to get right. For me his singing held no tune, he was just shouting the words. Though Nagada was fantastic. The song perfectly suited his voice, and he nailed it. Also, gotta give it to him - Two high-energy songs, and never once was he out of breath. Maintained the same energy till the end 👏

One thing I'd like to add - Earlier Chetanya's voice used to dominate in the chorus and it wasn't really enjoyable. But now it's Faiz's voice that really sticks out from the rest, and I'm loving it 🤪 Though during Mani's Jhoom Barabar, it didn't blend well with others.

Also, PD's vocals were heard at the end of Agar Tum Saat Ho by Arya. I think it was pre-recorded since they didn't show him singing. And I wonder why Imtiaz and Niladri came in later. Two of the Tamasha songs were sung before he came 🤔

Actually no. It was just today. Usually the episodes are out by 8.15 on SonyLiv. Today it only appeared after 10.30.

Yeah I caught the half that I saw on SET. So I didn't have the option to forward the Comedy stuff. Will try to catch the rest on Liv today.

For the first half which I missed yesterday.

Samaira. Banwari Ho Gayi, Banno Tera Swagger. Overall she did well, capturing the mood of both the songs. However, I felt that in trying to capture the style of the original singer, her nasal twang returned. Maybe that is going to be her style as she grows up. DHD for her. Well, can't understand how they give out DHDs.

Soyab. Heer Toh Badi Sad Hai Ji, Saawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag, Chalat Musafir. Soyab did well in all 3, but I liked him more last weekend in his mellow avatar. This category is something we already know he does well. Got a DHD too. And an SSN.

Aruna. Ek Chatur Naar. All of the adjectives that HR said - all apt! This is an extremely difficult song, especially Manna De's portions. But she did full justice to the song. Clearly she has a lot of pure technical talent which TCT is not exploring. DHD for her, and deservedly so.

Aryananda. Ghazab Ka Hai Din, Agar Tum Saath Ho. Wow! She sang both songs with a more open mouth and in a full throated manner. And what a difference that made! Her talent came through shining! Alka Yagnik was all praise for her!

Pranjal. Teri Deewani. Very well sung. Sang in his own style but did a great job. DHD for him.

Rohan and Pratyush. Golmaal hai, O Saawariya (Half Ticket). Rohan showed once again why he is basically carrying Pratyush on his shoulders! What a versatile and talented boy, and what a criminal waste by TCT to restrict him to these drama moments! DHD for them.

Sayisha. Ek Do Teen. Technically very sound but this was probably an easy song for her. I think she felt that too, because she didn't keep looking towards PD or her mother the way she usually does. But my word - the overall performance was a cuteness overload!

Other things to note:

Pawandeep : when Girish Vishwa started playing the dholak for Chalat Musafir sung by Soyab - PD could barely contain himself 😄. If he had his way he would probably be the dholi himself 😄

The Udit Narayan act (didn't catch the artist's name). When he said main Alka ji se apne dil ki baat kehna chahta hoon " PD wasn't impressed at all.

The famous Arunita laughing and elbowing Pawandeep which I saw in the 2nd half of the episode, made its first appearance in this Udit Narayan act.

For most of Aruna's performance, it could be seen in the drone shots that PD was missing from his seat but towards the end of the song he was back in his seat. Was he allowed to walk in midway through the song? Or was this shot in two takes?

Arunita: During Aryananda's performance, when she sang "lafzon ki dhokebaazi", Arunita playfully pointed at PD 😄. Wonder if they had a small tiff 🙂

Duitara. That's two weekends in a row that we have been shown that the Duitara works 😄

When Pranjal and PD were asked to do their famous dance moved on HR's song, my expectation was that they will show Arunita's reaction. But I was being naive. Sayli Cam takes precedence 🙄

Editing once again : at the end of Sayisha's performance PD was with her on the stage, but when they showed Arunita applauding, PD was next to her. Simon and Garfunkel would have been proud of him... If I could be two place at one time, I'd be with you, Tomorrow and Today 😄

And during the Alka Ka Swayamvar act, was PD sitting to the left or Arunita or to her right? Or did they randomly keep changing seats? 😄

Actually immediately as the song ended they cut to a long shot and in that you can see hom putting his mic down. So I think it was done with the song itself. But TCT has the most amazing editors who consistently choose the wrong visuals 😄
