Alex Annie Alexis Ann - Recap

In Sioux Falls, a deputy, Frank, bring in a young girl, Annie Jones, and locks her up in a holding cell. He sits down in exhaustion but immediately gets a call to check out a B&E. the sheriff's station is understaffed but he has no choice but to leave Annie there and check it out. Later, Annie hears someone moving outside and goes to the door to check it out. A teenager, Cody, peers in at her and says that he knew where to find her and that he came to take care of the situation before the others realized that Annie was gone. Annie points out that he can't get in, but Cody dangles the keys and then unlocks the door. A she comes in, Cody explains that he faked the B&E, and reminds Annie that they will always find her. He bares his fangs... just as Jody comes up behind him and decapitates him with an axe.

The next day, the Winchesters arrive in town and Jody shows them Cody's decapitated corpse in the trunk of her cruiser. They check his fangs and confirm that it's a vampire, and Jody says that there are more vampires around. She doesn't have an ID on Annie, but she overheard enough to realize that other vampires will be coming for the girl. The Winchesters figure that it's a nest and go to check out Annie. They confirm that she's not a vampire and she realizes that they're hunters. Dean suggests that she thank Annie for saving her, and asks why the vampires want her. Sam notices bite scars on her neck as Jody calls them out to show them that she has a DNA match on the girl. Annie was abducted in 2006 and has no living kin since her grandmother died. Dean figures that the vampires wouldn't have turned her for eight years without a good reason, and the brothers figure that Annie is a blood slave. Sometimes the slaves stay loyal to the vampires who "own" them.

Sam and Dean go back in and say that they understand why she's loyal. Annie insists that her name is Alex and that she chose to feed the vampires and she considers them her family. Sam asks why she ran away and Annie says that it was time to move on. Dean points out that the rest of the vampires will come after her and they have her scent, and Sam asks how long she thinks she can run. The Winchesters realize that she didn't think it out, and Annie blames Jody for killing her "brother." Sam says that it's either them or her, and asks where the nest is. Annie refuses to say but figures that once Mama finds her, she'll kill her.

As Sam checks the Internet, Jody admits that the whole thing creeps her out. Annie took a bus from the small town of O'Neill, Nebraska, and the Winchesters figure that they'll have to go in cold and search for the nest. Sam has put together a list of possible locations and figures that they can hit them all in a day. As Sam and Dean take off, they warn Jody that vampires are trackers and they'll come to the station for Annie. She decides to take Annie to her family cabin outside of woods and assures the brothers that she doesn't need backup and can't afford to risk her men. Sam tells her about how dead man's blood works and Jody agrees to take some, but figures the Winchesters will take care of the vampires before they get to her.

In O'Neill, a woman, Stacy Kepler, leaves her job at the bus station and calls to say that she'll be home soon. As she gets to her car, a man named Connor comes up behind her and asks if she's seen his sister Annie. Stacy says that she hasn't as two of Connor's friends walk up. Connor knows that Stacy sold Annie a bus ticket out of town because they killed Ralph Hedges, the man who told them she sold Annie a ticket. Stacy runs for it but their mama blocks Stacy's path and bares her fangs.

Jody takes Annie to her cabin and assures the girl that it looks better on the inside. She takes Annie in and warns her that it's easy to get lost in the woods. Jody unpacks food and Annie notices a cross, and warns Jody that it doesn't work on vampires. The sheriff says that isn't where she has it, and Annie notices a photo of Jody's family. Jody takes the photo away and Annie asks how they died, and the sheriff says that they died horribly. She suggests that Annie get some sleep, but Annie says that she's fine and sits on the couch.

In O'Neill, Sam and Dean approach a foreclosed house and find signs of recent habitation... and blackout windows. They hear a mechanical buzzing from the back and go to investigate. A man, Dale, is running a chipper and Dean realizes that he's cutting a corpse. Dean distracts him while Sam knocks him out from behind, and they take him inside. They find the IDs belonging to Stacy and Ralph and figure that the vampires killed them, and demand to know where the rest of his family is.

At the sheriff's station in Sioux Falls, Frank is at the desk when Mama and her sons come in and ask him to help them.

Dean beats Dale but he refuses to talk. When the elder Winchester takes out a machete and says that he hates vampires, Dale realizes that it's about Annie. He explains that Mama turned all of them except Annie, who kept complaining about how they fed on people. Dale figures that Annie will choose her vampire family when the chips are down, and explains that Annie served as bait to lure in men that they could feed on. He tells the Winchesters that Annie is just as bloodthirsty as any vampire, and the Winchesters that Jody is in trouble.

Jody comes in with firewood and discovers that Annie is gone. She looks outside for her, unaware that he cell phone is ringing. When she goes back in, she finds Annie lying on her son's bed, asleep. Jody starts to cover her over, startling her awake, and Annie lunges at her before controlling herself. As Jody goes, Annie asks about her grandmother. When Jody says that she died, Annie casually says that it's for the best and goes back to sleep.

Sam and Dean confirm that Stacy and Ralph worked at the bus station, and figure that they sold Annie the bus ticket. Jody finally returns their call and the Winchesters warn her that the vampires are on their way to Sioux Falls. As they start to warn her about Annie, a truck pulls up outside and Jody tells the Winchesters that the vampires are there. Dean sends Sam on and then goes to kill Dale.

At the cabin, Annie wakes up as Jody calls for her. The vampires break in through the window and barricade the door. By the time Jody gets the door open, the vampires have dragged Annie to the car. When Jody goes after them, one of the vampires knocks her down. Mama yells that it's time to go and the vampire knocks Jody out and drives off with the rest of his family.

When Sam and Dean arrive at the cabin the next morning, they find Jody and wake her up. She tells them what happened and they figure the family is heading back for their nest. Jody insists on going with them to protect Annie, and Dean explains that the girl has been feeding victims to her vampires. The sheriff doesn't care, but the Winchesters warn Jody that at best, Annie is conflicted. Sam wonders why Jody is so involved with Annie, but Jody refuses to answer and warns them that if they plan to harm Annie then they'll have to go through her.

Annie wakes up and Mama tells her that she's made a mess of things. Dale is dead and they'll have to move. When Annie tries to explain, Mama tells her that they will all find their way and the important thing is that Annie is back. Annie is surprised that Mama doesn't want to punish her, and the older woman assures Annie that she would never hurt her baby girl. She asks why Annie ran, and Annie says that she couldn't take the killing anymore. Mama blames herself for not turning Annie years ago.

The brothers park down the road from the house and Dean tells Jody to stay close and focus on clearing the nest. She says that she's got it and they take off.

Mama explains that she didn't turn Annie because she wanted to see her grow up, and offers to take the pain away so they can stay together as a family.

Jody and the Winchesters enter the house but find no sign of the vampires on the first floor. They hear something moving upstairs and Sam and Dean go up the stairs and split up. Meanwhile, Jody hangs behind and goes to find Annie, and hears a woman moaning from the cellar. She goes down the stair and Dean hears the door close. Connor has the drop on Sam and orders Dean to drop his machete. When he does, Connor's brother knocks him out.

Jody finds Annie in the basement and realizes that she's been turned. The girl says that she's made her choice and Mama knocks Jody out from behind.

The vampires duct tape Sam to a chair and Connor beats him as he talks about how they came home and found Dale dead. He asks which one of them decapitated Dale but Sam refuses to talk. Connor explains that they're going to have to hit the road now and they're going to pack a lunch. He takes out a bucket and some tubing.

Mama ties Jody up and tells her not to both Annie. She explains that the last thing left for the girl to do is feed on human blood. Mama drags Annie over to Jody, and Annie begs her to let Jody go. She jerks away and Mama says that it's her human half changing. When she tells Jody that she's trying to fill some hole in her life by protecting Annie, Jody points out that she abducted Annie. Mama grabs her by the throat and insists that she's raised Annie as one of her own for nine years, but Jody tells her that motherhood isn't about making a daughter like yourself when they become inconvenient. Disgusted, Mama tells Annie that Jody is trying to turn her against her family.

As the vampires bleed Sam out, Connor tells his brother to get Dean ready. Dean is already awake and stabs him in the chest. Connor goes after dean and slams him to the floor.

Mama tells Jody that it's time to finish it, but Jody realizes that Mama named Annie "Alex" after her own daughter, who died. The sheriff realizes that Mama adopted Annie to fill a hole in her own life. Mama tells Annie that her daughter Alex died years ago, and Jody describes how Mama still feels the lost years later. Furious, the vampire turns and slaps Jody repeatedly.

Dean manages to hold Connor back despite the vampire's strength. After a moment, Dean swings Connor around and holds the knife to his throat. He yells at Connor to look at him and then decapitates him, as Sam stares in shock. Dean then frees Sam, who reminds him about Jody.

Mama releases Jody and tells her that she'll soon be seeing the child she lost. As she bares her fangs, Annie drives a syringe of dead man's blood from Jody's supplies into Mama's back. Mama stares at her in shock and asks how she could do it, insisting that she was her girl. Annie says that she's sorry, and Jody grabs a machete and tells Annie not to watch. The girl turns away as Sam and Dean come down just as Jody decapitates the vampire.

Back at Jody's cabin, the brothers prepare to leave. Sam points out that Dean seemed to enjoy killing Connor a bit too much, and Dean doesn't see the problem. He points out that their job is killing things that need killing, and he doesn't have a problem with taking pleasure in it. Jody comes back from the station and assures them that Frank is fine. Sam and Dean admit that they were wrong about Annie, and Jody admits that her judgment was clouded. She explains that she buried her feelings under work and religion , but the grief is still there. Jody thanks them for coming out and curing Annie using Mama's blood, and they warn that it'll be a rough couple of days. Sam asks Jody what she's going to do with Annie after the girl is cured.

Jody goes in and checks on Annie, who is going through the cure. She thanks Jody for everything and says that she couldn't disappoint Mama again. Annie says that she's done things, but Jody says that she doesn't want to hear them because it doesn't matter. She tells the girl that she'll be there for her, whatever she needs, and assures her that no one can understand what it means to lose an entire family. Annie figures that Jody can.
