My first full creation con
experience! Chicago Con 2013!
I'll post photos later on though
there are probably hundreds up on
twitter/tumblr already, so for now
I'm just gonna share some
highlights!
- Being on the first panel and
seeing so many people attend on
Friday! That was a big surprise
since I figured most people would
be working or at school. Doing a
panel is one of my favorite con
things so for everyone who had the
forethought of planning ahead and
getting that day booked off, well
done and thank you!
- Meeting Sebastian (as Gordon
Ramsey), Julie, Samantha, Mark
Pellegrino and Alaina for the first
time! They were all so nice and it
felt like I've known them for so long
without ever meeting them!
- Seeing the panels for the first
time! I never realize just how
different they all were. Really cool
to see everyone else doing it,
maybe even inspired, maybe my
next panel will be like Sebastian's.
- Photo ops! Got asked to do some
pretty hilarious things. Got carried a
few times and my favorite was a
Koalaing in there which I guess I
brought back later on.
- Seeing all the fanart at the
autographs session never ceases to
amaze me! Keep up the good work
cause I wanna watch the show that
you're all making!
- Karaoke! Always a fun time! Dick
and Matt are a blast! The song
selections were awesome, and this
is the time I usually take to meet
and talk to some people and that's
always a lot of fun.
- Cocktail party! This was a first for
me. Though I had no idea what to
expect, and I thought that it was a
bit rushed, I actually quite enjoyed
talking to everyone there. The VIP
and Gold ticket people I saw all
over the con, and it's just nice to
see familiar faces and remember
people's names so thank you for
being so friendly!
Now on the flip side.
- Chicago deep dish pizza with
friends, most of whom I met for the
first time! Sounds weird, but when
you know so much about people, it
just feels like another Thursday
night!
- Seat buddies! At all the panels,
got to sit next to some really cool
people and they taught me how to
be a proper attendee.
- Really appreciating all the
volunteers. Always so helpful, until I
try to get into a room that is.
Luckily I eventually got a wrist band
to flash and that was that! Then
they continuously told me to keep
moving so I'm not blocking the fire
lanes because a fire marshall would
shut the con down if he saw me. I
COULD HAVE SHUT THE WHOLE
THING DOWN. Probably without
knowing it. Well done volunteers,
job well done, that's one highlight I
did not want.
- Costume Contest! I was late for it
so I think I got disqualified but
Misha included me as a prize! I felt
safer in Ghostbuster Castiel's arms.
- Photo-ops! I bombed a few of
them. And everyone was pretty
happy to have me there. Mark
Shepherd even kinda smiled for me!
J&J's I had to work for it a bit. They
ran back behind the curtain in
protest first, then Jensen threw a
ball at my head, and Jared kicked
me in the butt. But after that we got
the pic! At J2M's they both picked
me up and turned me around, then
Misha spanked me. And then we
got the pic!
- Checking out the Vendors room.
The funniest ideas on t-shirst,
prints and so much other cool stuff!
The good deeds happening at the
random acts booth. An
independently made film, Sleep
Wake Forget. Just so much SPN
and SPN inspired stuff!
- Cocktail party! Waiting in the line
was long but met a lot of nice
people. After all the guests went
around everyone sang Happy
Birthday to all the birthday people
and then there was a mini dance
party. Got a chance to talk to a lot
of people here a little more in depth
about hobbies, school, careers and
just life in general.
- Late night pool party at the pool.
Only 2 people came prepared with
swimsuits. We had to get out at
3am so that they could open at
4am. It was supposed to close at
midnight. We didn't know!
- Sunday! Finally seeing the
craziness of Sunday. J2's panel
was great as expected.
- Winning Fan of the Convention!!
Jensen gave me a good spank, but
I would have settled for a plaque.
- Meeting hundreds of people! And
being able to talk to so many of
them! All the attendees were so
awesome!
- Hugs and smiles! I just love
seeing happy people and seeing all
the hugs leading to smiles and
smiles leading to hugs was just
awesome.
- Sendoff hangout with people still
at the Westin just now. We were in
it for the long haul. And I was 3
hours early for my ride to the
airport. One more for the road!
Cons of the con.
- I slept through the alarm and
missed the breakfast meet n greet..
and I had told so many people I
was going to go because I was so
excited about it. I was so
embarrassed when I saw the time I
just ran out of my room to the lobby
and got my photo op with the guys
in my PJs.
All in all this felt like a con! I'm
incredibly groggy so I probably
missed a ton of moments in there
cause this list looks a lot shorter
than it feels. My body also feels
like I just did a marathon but at
least I'm awake and I won't miss
my flight out today!
