LOL you're a great observer lavina.😆..
Hmm we can assume(which we do 90% of the times) that she can't draw with paper nd pencil bt is very comfortable while drawing on the floor... Nd that showpiece i guess had nothing to do with drawing.. so she could make a beautiful

Drawing is quite a different art from Rangoli. Drawing is all about how you hold the brush/pencil, the strokes, the intricate details. Rangoli is mostly patterns, different abstract shapes... you need some artistic sense to make it look beautiful but you need not be an artist to make a Rangoli 😆

In short, drawing on paper is quite different from making broad patterns on floor. I've seen people who can make great Rangoli but can't draw the same shape on paper! And it is far more difficult to make a rangoli out of certain drawings made on paper.

Such an interesting question, Lavina. I struggled to answer, really😆

In general I've seen people who are good artists can make decent rangoli. And those who make good rangoli not that good artists.

That could be because Artists dabble with humans, portraits, landscapes, still life...so many forms. They know how to draw minute things like eyeballs to gigantic stuff like mountains.

Even for an artist it is difficult to draw the same thing in an A4 sheet and a Canvas. Size of the thing changes the technique of doing it. Here we are transitioning from paper to floor! Big difference.

But in Rangoli you need not be so detailed... also Rangoli have lot of techniques to master basic shapes... I'm not saying it's easy, far from it. it also requires skills but different from drawing.

The tools are also different, on one you have brushes, pencils, watercolours... on other you have powders n chalks.

I hope I'm making sense.

I can do nice rangolis even with powders, but can't draw well at all. I assure you it's very possible, Lavina, and du has it right.
