What's the story with these two? It's been over a year and we still have no idea how they ended up getting married. There's clearly NO love between them whatsoever. I don't remember one romantic scene. Even Saurabh-Rags have shown more love between them than Anuj-Menka. So what's the deal? Are the CVs ever going to get around to it? I don't get why they don't do flashback scenes. The CVs are hell-bent on running this serial like any other serial - in a very straightforward, formulaic manner.

I just hope we get some explanation or at least some closure on the Anuj-Menka situation. I mean, Anuj doesn't even LIKE her! What's going on? I get that Menka is comic relief and a vamp but they can't just ignore the whole reason she's there, which is her marriage to Anuj.

Also, who are her people? I think it's been mentioned that Menka is middle-class, like Suhani. What's the story there? WHY ARE THE CVs NOT GIVING ANY BACKGROUND INFO!? UGH. I'm so close to being done with this show.

Both Saurabh and Anuj obviously had arranged marriages. And I don't see any love between Saurabh and Rags--it's always been only Saurabh who tries. Even so, he told her when he was drunk that he doesn't love her. Rags acts like he's an annoying pest, just like Anuj acts towards Menka.
I don't think any background stories will be shown unless they need to invent one for some drama.

Mmm I'm pretty sure Saurabh chose Rags. Wasn't she the model for the company or something? Also, when his female friend comes over and Rags starts taunting her, he (or someone else?) says "everybody has their own taste [in women]" so I think it's possible he married her of his own accord, but for her looks.

Oh! Also, there's a scene with the three Birla boys where they're talking about Suhani and Saurabh tells Yuvraj not to make the same mistake he and Anuj did, implying that he had at least some choice in the matter. Anuj-Menka definitely seem completely arranged though, which is weird since she's middle-class and dangerously foolish.

I'm so sick of Rags and Menka now that I've lost interest in their lives. Earlier I used to wonder what bought these two couples together... specially the day when Saurabh advised Yuvraj not to do the mistake they did and marry for superficial things. That unhappy element was evident but never properly explored. Now, they've lost the right time and right actors too.

Even now, maybe a backstory or a 'blast from past' into either of their lives can add some dimension to these supremely monotonous characters.

Totally agree, especially with @bold. Vijay would have given a great performance for his track if given a chance. Don't know why they didn't do the affair track earlier... Around Somu track it would have been perfect. The show was dreadfully slow at that time. Saurabh's affair track would have spiced things up.

Also, I really don't understand why they don't do backstories. They should have a set of episodes that is part flashbacks. The side actors would be happy and the audience would be given something interesting to see... I don't understand the problem.

The reason they don't do backstories or anything else clever is because they seem to lack creativity! Often it seems like they don't really understand their audience or what their audience wants. They just take stabs with boring story lines and ideas that don't make sense, don't work and don't entertain.
