Wish I could ask the creative team

when I 1st started watching the show I tried to read all the articles related to the show and it all said the same thing new show original show which would connect with the youth. I am watching for 2 weeks now and really the 1 thing on my mind is what's original and new about this show? What original storyline was the creative team talking about.
