i personally vote against the ranking system...life wud b so much mre easier...as its purely unfair on actors who are ranked down becos they have no articles posted a certain week, while others have high ranks becos they hav mre videos/articles tagged 2 their name--its clearly unfair...hence i strongly agree with the argument for "NO RANKING"

I like allmost all the features IF offers to members, except the ranking system both, celebs and shows. I have stopped taking the celeb ranking seriously. Now I comment when I remember, not as a to do thing. Show ranking it is good to know which is popular forum in IF but the real show rankings are decided by the TRP. why not just put the TRP number against the forum so the real rankings are known by itself.

I have wanted to get rid of celebrity ranking as well as show rankings since ages. I have been in Geet forum,and have seen what ranking battles did to that forum. But its not just about one forum, it is plaguing whole IF. This site is no more about discussing shows and making friends with similar interests. Whole site has turned into battleground, where we just keep fighting to make our favorite show or actors win( when they perhaps even dont know about it, and each of them is doing very well in their own way). Instead of being an enjoyment,this site has become a stress due to ranking system. And worst part is that we are addicted. We dislike members just just because they are a fan of our rival celebrity/show,and trying to put our favs down in rankings. We dont appreciate other actors/actresses or show, because we feel that our loyalty is exclusive to only our fav. When articles of top actors/actresses come out only first few hundred comments are of genuine appreciation, rest all are done with only purpose of increasing/maintaining their rankings. And for that fans make 100 of MIDs.

And this is only going to get worse. Now the situation is that top 4 celebrities are more or less on equal platform, and order of their ranking depends to a very large extent on buzz points. So whichever celebrity gets an article or video, fans jump on that to secure top spot for their favs. And articles/video are not in the hand of fans. IF releases that. So they can easily give article to one or two celebrities so that they can be on top. Fans of that celebrity would celebrate, while others would enrage at lack of Buzz points. Tables would be turned again next week, and other celebrities would get article,due to which celebrities on top would come down. Again one group would rejoice,while other would mourn. And the cycle would continue.

I know rankings would not be done away with. Coz whatever is said about not taking ranking seriously, truth is ,that more seriously fans take the ranking, more profitable it is for this site(and may I say unhealthy for fans). There are thousands who visit this site daily just to comment on their favs profile to keep them at top. Not out of love,but out of competition.

Fact is all top celebrities of IF are very well established and recognized for their work, their careers are not ruled by these rankings. But I understand that fans do want to see their fav celebrities being appreciated,and IF is not going to do away with rankings anytime soon. So one viable and practical solution can be to release the list of top 10 or 20 celebrities and shows in strictly alphabetical order. We would get a fair idea of the most popular celebrities and shows,and at the same time it wont lead to intense competition or bashing. Because though the celebrities/shows would be categorized as 20 most popular, they wont be ranked as who is above whom,and who is below whom. So actors and shows would get recognition for their popularity,and at the same time this feeling of proving our show/celebrity is better than so and so,wont be there. Even the next 30 celebrities can be in alphabetical order.It would be like a grading system instead of ranking. But grading system is much more constructive than the cut throat competition of ranking system. Also instead of weekly,rankings can be released forth nightly,or even monthly if possible. I think these two simple steps can very effectively control the bashing,competition and and over obsession with the ranking that is going since quite a while, and spoiling the forum for many.

There is just no point of this ranking and things, because it is just creating animosity among fans, where each fan of their respective actor are just fighting it out bashing actors, what not, makes no sense because at the end of the day they are all good and amazing in their fans eye and seriously this competition of whose the best is creating fights and leading to actors being bashed which they don't deserve.
