The door bell rang…. A long ringggggggggggggg…. 😕

Dipika eyes still closed rolled over and mumbled…..

Dipika: Dood waale bhaiyya aaj itni door bell kyun baja rahe hain? Packets daalke kyun nahi jaate? 🥱

Again the door bell rang, a short one this time….

Jerking from her sleep Dipika opened her eyes and looked around sleepily…. It was still dark outside her window…. More than dark…. It was pitch dark… Wondering she looked at her bedside lamp… The digital dials of the clock showed ten minutes to twelve! 😲

Dipika sat up straight now wide awake….

Dipika: Bara baje? Is waqt koun ho sakta hai? ❓

Dragging herself out of the bed she wore her night robe and came down the stairs…

Coming to the door she thought for a moment doubtful… She first looked through the eye hole in the door…. She couldn't see anything or anyone in the lobby as it was dark…. She thought for a while as usually the lobby lights were switched and kept on the whole night….

The door bell rang again…. This time a long one…. SOS Signal fashion?!?!?!?! 😉

As a precautionary measure she put on the chain lock in the door and opened the door a little….

Dipika: Koun hai? 😔

There was no response and Dipika wondered whether she should close the door back again when she saw a match stick light…..

She saw the match stick light a candle and heard soft voices singing….

"Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday dear Dipika!
Happy birthday to you!" 👏

Shocked and surprised slowly she released the lock of her door and stepped out…. The first face she saw in the glow of the candle was of Aryan who was holding the cake….

They shared an eye locking session where both remembered all the times together till now… The glow of the candle shimmered lighting only their faces as their memories flew back in time!

Dipika's entry into Special Squad….. Her fights with Aryan… Times when he had lied to her get evidences out of Special Squad… Her concern for him…. His concern for her…. Time when she realized her feelings for him… Some cute moments after that… Times when he was in hospital…. When she had silently cried and prayed for him…. When she was hospital… Those few hours of worry when her whereabouts were unknown to him….. Their first ever valentine dance…. His confusion… Her confusion…

And now both knew not what the other's feeling towards them was…. They knew not what they wanted from each other…. Or what they would like to give each other… But one and only thing Aryan and Dipika knew about themselves was… Aryan loved Dipika from the bottom of his heart and Dipika's life if any was only with Aryan!☺️

But whether this was going to become a reality they knew not…. But knew they were content seeing each other in front of them!

"Hrrmm… Candle bhuja do Dipika…. Warna pata chala wax cake khaana pade!" 😉

At this Dipika smiled and still looking at Aryan blew out the candle and immediately the lobby lights came back on and they both heard a voice….

"Ab yaheen khade rehene ka irada hai kya?" 😃

Dipika and Aryan both came out of their reverie…. Dipika looked around and saw that Vishal was standing at the door step….. The whole gang was missing… Seems they had gone inside her house… When had they gone in?

Vishal came out and hugging her said….

Vishal: Happy Birthday dear! (Arms around her shoulder) Come…. Aryan chalo…

Saying he guided Dipika inside and she received another pleasant surprise….

The hall was beautifully decorated with balloons and streamers….

It was all within minutes… Seems they had come all prepared!

Dipika: (Surprised) Ye sab kya hai? ❓

As Aryan placed the cake on the center table Vishal threw out his hands and said…

Vishal: Ye b'day celebration hai!

Dipika: Itni raat gaye?!? (Looking around at Neha, Shotgun, Ajay, Boxer, Haseena) Tum sab….

Neha: Bas…. Kuch hatke karna chahathe isliye… Waise bhi celebration karke bahut din ho gaye…. Chalo naa… Cake kaatte hain… Chalo chalo!

As Neha dragged her to the table Dipika held her and said….

Dipika: Ek minute… Fresh hoke aati hoon!

Neha shrugged and Dipika went upstairs to freshen up…. Coming down she saw a mini feast ready on the dining table… Drinks and some light snacks were displayed…. Dipika's favorite sweet dish Mishti Dohi was also there!

Surprised even more as Dipika stood in her stairs she saw Aryan looking at her…. Slowly he came up to her and extending the bouquet wished her….

Aryan: Happy Birthday!

Dipika: (Smiling and blushing a little in 😳 ) Thank you!

She took the bouquet and smiled…. These were her favorite flowers…. Looking up she wondered Aryan knew about her likes?!!? 🤔

The other guys some near the table and near the cake looked at them and smiled….

Vishal: Hello… Chalo… Cake waiting….

Vishal extended his hand to Dipika, who took it and came to the table…

Dipika saw the cake and said happily….

Dipika: Black forest!!! Mera favorite hai! 😛

Vishal: Pata hai madam ji…. Ab jadli cake kaato… Bahut bhook lagi hai!

Hitting him playfully Dipika blew out the candles which were lit once again, amidst claps as everyone sang the birthday song again…..

She cut the cake and took out a piece… Straightening she turned to her left and saw Aryan standing there… After a pause she extended the cake to him… Aryan looked at her mildly surprised and took a piece of the cake and fed her in turn…. 😍

They shared another look with each other where it seemed ike the sun was shining through the fog! Was some confusions been cleared?

Vishal: Mera piece!?!

Dipika smiled at his puppy face and fed him and the others too… 😳

Vishal: Hmm… (Eating the cake) Tasty hai… Nice selection Aru!

Vishal got absorbed in eating his cake piece as Dipika looked surprised at Aryan…. Aryan glared at Vishal and then looked at Dipika, immediately looking elsewhere… 😉

Everyone came and gave their gifts to her…. Giving the gifts the others went to get the drinks and snacks…

Dipika and Aryan stood there hesitant…. Dipika made a move to join the others when Aryan called out in a small voice….

Aryan: Dipika!

Dipika stopped and looked at him smiling mildly as after a long time it seemed to her, she was hearing him call her name like that….

Aryan came over to her and gave her his gift…. She took it blushing a lot inwards, suppressing it outwards…. Before she could say thank you Aryan left the place….

Smiling Dipika looked at the gift and at Aryan… She then looked at the others who were busy arranging the snacks, cutting the cakes and pouring drinks… Placing the gift with the others she went and joined them….

Aryan sauntered off to the double sofa and took some random magazine off the table and browsed flipped its pages…. Dipika glanced over at Aryan and saw the name of the magazine he was reading…. 😲

Stunned she looked up at him wondering whether he really was reading it and smiled seeing that he was just flipping the pages not even glancing at the pages or photos… She went to a cupboard and took out another magazine… Looking at it and at Aryan, smiling she came up to him and asked….

Dipika: Er…. Magazine achcha hai? ❓

Aryan looked at her and said hesitantly….

Aryan: Haan…. Nice… Interesting…. Particularly ye story…

Dipika bent over to look at the story he was reading and smiled in a strange way…..

Seeing that Dipika was trying to suppress her smile Aryan looked at her confused and asked….

Aryan: What? 😕

Dipika: (Extending the other magazine to him) Ye shayad tumhe interesting lagegi…. India Times! New edition hi hai… (As Aryan looked on puzzled ) Er…. Vo shayad women's magazine hai…. Aur vo story jo tumhe interesting lag rahi hai, vo actually…. (Smiling more broadly) It is about… Precautions to be taken during last stage of pregnancy…

At this there was a burst of laughter from behind Dipika… Looking back she saw the whole team there each with drinks and plates in their hands…. 😆

Aryan looked at them embarrassed and kept back the magazine on the table…. He looked at them grinning sheepishly as Neha came up to him and giving the plate said….

Neha: Aryan! Ye magazine to abhi Boxer ko padna hai! 😃

Laughter broke in again as Boxer and Haseena blushed….. Ajay sitting down beside Aryan commented….

Ajay: Shayad early preparations chal rahi ho! 😆

At this everyone looked at Aryan and Dipika in turns while Dipika blushed again, but Aryan looked stunned… 😲

Shotgun: Lekin preparations ko tumhe pehle karni hai Ajay! Time jaldi aa jayega!

Now it was Ajay's turn to get shocked and Neha's turn to blush….☺️

As others looked on puzzled at the comment Haseena asked….

Haseena: Matlab?!!? 😔

Shotgun: Are tum logon ko nahi pata… Oh… Aaj hi fix hua naa…. Inki shaadi fix ho gayi hai… Theek ek maheene baad ka date hai!

At this the whole team looked surprised and exclaimed….

Dipika: Kya? Such? Neha tumne bataya nahi?!!?

Neha: (Blushing) Vo aaj hi mummy ji ne kaha… Shaam Ajay ke ghar gayi thi, wahan se yahan aane ke liye… Tab mummy ji ne kaha tha ki date fix kar di hai!

Happy everybody congratulated Ajay and Neha….. 🤗

Boxer: Tab to this calls for triple celebration tonight!

Dipika: (Sitting down on the single sofa) Kya celebration?

Vishal: Kya? Kya celebration? Tumhari birthday party ka….

Shotgun: Zubin ke reception ka……

Boxer: Aur ab Ajay aur Neha ki marriage date fix hone ka…….

Dipika: (Surprised) Ab issse zyada birthday celebration?

Neha: Ye to sirf trailor tha… Abhi poori picture baaki hai… Aaj shaam hum sab Antique Vintage jaa rahe hain…. Wahan snow bowling alley me tumhara birthday party hai!

Dipika: Snow bowling alley me?

Haseena: Haan…. Party ki party bhi hui aur thoda game bhi ho jayega.… Isliye!

Neha: Haan wahan do rooms liye hain humne…. Game ke baad thodi refresh kar lenge aur phir party!!!

Boxer: Pehle to double celebration hi tha…. Lekin ab jab Neha aur Ajay ki marriage date fix ho gayi hai, to triple celebration!

Dipika: (Laughing) Baap re… Itne saare celebrations?! 😊

Vishal: (Sitting down on the sofa's hand rest) Chodo naa Dipika…. Humare profession me enjoy karna door ki baat sochne tak ki hume time nahi milti hai…. Isliye jitni celebrate karni hain, kar lete hain!

Dipika nodded and smiled looking around happy to have all her friends wish her first on her birthday….

Amidst snacks, drinks and talks Dipika went and stood near the window enjoying the cool breeze and enjoying the new found happiness with her!

Vishal: Ab to gussa nahi ho naa? 😕

Dipika turned and looked at Vishal catching his ears and making a sorry face…..

Dipika shaking her head pulled down his hands…. She looked behind and saw Aryan who she knew was listening to their conversation, because this involved him too….

Dipika looked at Vishal and looking at Aryan said….

Dipika: Gussa to main tab bhi nahi thi Vishal…. Aap logon se gussa ho bhi nahi sakti main…. Bas ke tum log itna khatara mod lete ho…. Not required at all…. (As Vishal tried to interrupt, Dipika looked at him and said hastily) Haan kaam hai humara…. Pata hai…. Criminals ko pakadna humara kaam hai…. Tab ho to kisi ko kuch justify karne ki zaroorat nahi…. Lekin purposefully jaake….

Vishal: Dipika… Us din ki baat alag hai…. First thing aurat par koi haath uthaye ye hum dekhte to nahi rahenge… And more that when that person is our near and (Glancing back at Aryan once) dear!

Dipika: Samajhte kyun nahi ho… Aise hi kaise!?!?! (Looking helpless giving one glance ) I… I worry for you!

Vishal: Aww…. (Taking her face in his hands) Dipika ji… Don't worry… Be happy…. Kisi ko kuch nahi hoga…. 😔

Dipika looked behind at Aryan who looked back at her smiling consolingly and went away from there…

Vishal: (Looking in the direction Aryan had gone) Dipika… Maine aaj tumhe apni gift de di hai…. Lekin ek khaas gift baaki hai… Which I am sure you will like!

Dipika: (Surprised) Such!?!? Kahan hai? 😛

Vishal: Well… Vo ab nahi… Tumhe shaam ko milega! 😃

Dipika: (Frustrated) Vishal! 😕

Vishal: Patience baba! (Looking at his watch) Time ho gaya…. Hume abhi chalna chahiye!

Dipika nodded and they went over to join the others…. Neha helped her take the gifts to her room…..

Everyone helped clean the plates and glasses…

When it was time after a while at the door….

Dipika: Thank you so much guys…. Mera sabse best birthday hai ye! 😳

Neha: Aur humara sabse bada celebration!

The others smiled at her and hugged her in turn… Except of course Aryan!

Vishal: Der ho gayi…. Ab hume chalna chahiye… (As others made way to leave) Shaam ko I'll pick you up! Good night… Or say Good morning… Abhi do bajne ko aaye hain! Bye…. (As he left Dipika could hear him say) Thank God aaj Sunday hai… Ab phir se jaake thoda so sakta hoon!

Dipika just smiled… Everyone bade good bye and left the place… Dipika turned around and saw that Aryan was still there….

Dipika: (Mildly surprised) Thanks…. Cake bahut achcha tha! 😊

Aryan: (Looking elsewhere) Isme thanks ki kya baat hai…. Tumhe achcha laga bas….

Dipika: (Trying to hide her smile) Lekin tumhe kaise pata ki mujhe black forest cake pasand hai? 😛

At this Aryan just looked at her not answering and Dipika wondered if she had embarrassed him asking the question…. Of course there were many ways to find out… Above all Vishal knew her tastes very well! He could have said! 🤔

But little did she know that not only her taste in cakes, but about her and all her interests Aryan knew now more than herself…. He was not a Chief Investigating Officer of Special Squad just for sake! 😉

Evading the question, Aryan asked….

Aryan: Kuch socha hai uske baare me? ❓

Dipika smiled understanding him evading the question and said….

Dipika: Haan… Aaj shaam ki party se behetar samay nahi ho sakti….

Aryan: (Nodding) Haan… Nice idea…. Kitne baje ki flight hai?

Dipika: Eight O' clock… I'll take care!

Aryan nodded once again… After an awkward silence he said…

Aryan: Er… Mujhe abhi chalna chahiye… Good night… And happy birthday once again!

As Aryan made way to move again, Dipika called him again and said….

Dipika: Aryan! 😕

Aryan stopped and looked back at her…

Dipika: Please! Phir kabhi unnecessarily kuch bhi galat mat karna! Please!

Aryan looked on at her and saw worry and concern for him in her eyes! 😳

Dipika: (Smiling) And thank you! good night!

Aryan gave a curt nod and left for home turning once to look at her…. Dipika watched him go and went back inside locking the door….

Switching off all the lights went up to her room thinking about the celebration… It was true this was her best birthday ever… Her second best in her whole life… The first best… Six years ago! 😉

She went to her room and looked at the gifts on her bed….

Sitting down her hand first reached out to Aryan's gift… Smoothing it she opened it wondering what Aryan would have bought for her!

Thinking about how Aryan would have chosen her gift, she opened it and held her breath for a moment…. 😲



It was really beautiful and one of the finest selections she would have chosen herself…

She was surprised that Aryan spent so much for her.... And firstly he could select such a wonderful piece, because men were generally poor in selection of lady's things…… 😃

She decided to wear this tonight for the party! 😳

The snow bowling alley was seeing a wonderful entertainment that day… Music was also on to give the game a mood!



It was a day to enjoy… Special Squad had successfully completed their operation….. It was one of their buddy's marriage reception…. Dipika's birthday and their buddies were going to tie knot soon enough…… And yet two more events were soon going to happen which was going to mark a triple double celebration! 😉
