Reality show of a different kind
Producers Jay and Kinnari Mehtaa are turning social activists of sorts. For, they are campaigning widow remarriage and to push the cause, they are actually getting a widow remarried today at Space Studio, Goregaon.
Kinnari says, "Our show 'Solhah Singarr' (Sahara) is about widow remarriage. We wanted to address this issue and advocate it at a larger scale. So we decided to support this cause by actually getting a widow remarried. And with our show nearing 200 episodes, we thought the idea was just apt to further the cause."
Elaborating on how the match came about, Kinnari shares, "The lady, Maaya Nagvekar, is a regular viewer of our show. She contacted us and raised her doubt that it is not possible in reality. So we decided to help her out." Maaya's profile was uploaded on dulhaadulhan.com and interestingly got its owner Mukesh Modi interested.
Maaya (40) says, "I am thankful to Kinnari for helping me. I had not been finding a suitable partner after my husband expired in 1989. After we uploaded my profile on this site, things stared to fall in place." Mukesh, 42, is a divorcee since two years. The couple is now looking forward to living life with a new zeal.
Kinnari adds, "That apart, we have got in touch with several matrimony bureaus and expressed our desire to support widow remarriage by willing to sponsor it and back it." Jay and Kinnari are also forming an NGO called Naya Jeevan to support the cause.
