Valmiki Ramayan was as it is.
Tulsidas Ramayan contained emotions but godly aspect was there.
Surely woman status in the society has changed. Nirmala I will try to read Di. Have u read Ramayan by shubh vilas.
The poetry u mentioned has it been sung by someone? Value education on Ramayana by chaitayna rini Das in YouTube I have heard. I guess that's the only exposure to Ramayan for me beyond books and SKR. Though he is a bit dramatic and all. Beautiful values are laid out.
Have got to go now( tution ). Will continue our discussion in the night pls 😃

300th episode. What a milestone team Skr. In indian television it's nothing. But in 300 episodes weaving the magic of Ramayan, the core values is something remarkable. A few times it did disappoint for instance the dinosaur( sp love for Lanka) but otherwise screenplay top notch and as long as this thread exists there will be no complaints from my side as here I understand Skr in all sense.
Thanks everybody in a journey we travesed together. It's been helping me in all spheres of life.that will be told in farewell thread for now
Thanks everyone especially sruthi Di.

A Diwali message. I don't know to post pictures. So here is the link.

Today's was philosophical yet had a beautiful loop closure. Once again fate plays in Lakshman's life. There was only one time in Lakshman's life when he disobeyed his brother. That was when Sita told she will commit suicide if he didn't go to protect Ram. Lakshman goes and the result was Sita haran.

Now today Laxman was again forced between his brother's order and Raghukul ki reeti. He had to choose Raghukul ki reeti as no one goes empty handed from Raghukul and he goes to Ram's room announcing a visitor.

Actually it was a very beautiful loop closure and a very beautiful learning for everyone concerned. If you look Lakshman is a man of Sanskriti. He always thought he will be able to control his niyati. He makes Nidra Devi give Nidra to his wife so that he can keep himself awake to protect his bhaiya-bhabi. He puts a line of protection for his bhabi. But niyati, time outwits him because Sita instead of obeying laws of nature obeys laws of tradition.

Just like today he faced the dilemma of Raghukul ki reeti and Ram's order Sita too faced the same dilemma of Lakshman's caution and Raghukul ki reeti. Remember the dialogue Raghunandan ke dwar se koi khali haat nahi jaata. No one goes empty handed from Raghunandan's door. That is how Sita crosses the line. And that one thing Raghukul ki reeti started the problems of all her life. We talk about kul ki maryada and all. But when to apply that funda. Ram says based on time and circumstances take decision. Time and circumstance is over and above any kul ki reeti or neeti.

Sita was alone in the ashram. Lakshman had cautioned her asur will come in different dress. At no point she should cross the line. Time and circumstance should have made Sita cautious. She should have heeded Lakshman's warning above kul ki reeti. But she doesn't. It is said that you cannot alter the fate, but if you take wise choice you can reduce the impact of the fate. In life also we should take decision based on time and circumstance not based on kul ki reeti, neeti. If time and circumstance demands a change in kul ki reeti and neeti that change has to come.

Today Lakshman follows the same funda irrespective of previous experience. Just like he had given warning to Sita, today Urmila comes to him with warning. Please stay away. Let this moment pass. But then he chose to obey his brother. Urmila demands to be heard once. But no. Raghukul ki reeti and listening to his brother's order becomes important to him.

The loop closes. Raghukul ki reeti made Ram sacrifice his wife and the same reeti the vachanpalan makes him sacrifice his brother too. The brother who has followed him like a shadow. The man who was asked to banish Sita, faces the banishment himself for the larger good of Ayodhya.

Ram-Kaal convo. Here was a man to whom Lord of death asking permission to take him. And he says if as per niyati, time has come for him to end his avatar he is ready for it. And Kaal says we humans are binded by desire. No one wants to leave this place, once they come here. But Ram willingly accept the niyati. He is like lotus that is in lake, yet above lake. It teaches us to be attached yet detached in our dealings.

Coming to Hanuman. He learnt the life lesson. Life looks beautiful, precious but just like the ring that glistens it is only a journey that ends one day. We will be replaced by people. What cannot be replaced is our actions. Actions that can impact lives. Thoughts that can inspire. Only that lives on. Not this physical body. Spend your life doing actions that impact lives positively, share thoughts that inspire others. Then you will keep on living just like Mahatma Gandhi, just like APJ etc etc

It was a poignant book, only thing is that I don't know who wrote it as I am searching for it now as my book I got it from a senior ( as was the practice in those days), then gave to a junior and it changed hands.
If you look there wont be a girl in Kerala in my age group say early thirties to late thirties who studied in state syllabus and has not been affected by Urmila, her pain. My so many OS in SKR forum stem from that book.
Also the poets in Malayalam wrote a lot about Rama and Krishna. And we studied excerpts from those poems for our Malayalam 1st paper.
I have studied excerpts from Ezhthuthachan's Killipattu Ramayanam where Ram talking Lakshman on why he should go forest, and also Ram's pain when Sita is abducted. Those lines are all very beautiful where Ram sees Sita in every tree, bush, and flower. People are telling no romance in SKR. They should be given those poetic lines 😆😆
Cherusseri's Krishnagadha and the lines the gopi's tell when Krishna is taken to Mathura " Nanmulla thanude thenuda karvandu nammula theendmo narimare" ( Translation : The bawra which was tasted the honey of fresh jasmine, will it touch withering jasmine. Double meaning when Krishna sees the beautiful ladies of Mathura will he remember us ). I used to analyze those lines in paragraph for exams and all.
Then there is poetry of Vyloppally where the lady Anasooya asks her about her swayamvara and Sita says when Raghuveer lifted the dhanush she felt like a peacock that saw the rain. The poetry which gives beautiful lines when Sita looks at Ram when he enters Mithila standing atop the Palace terrace and all is very very beautiful

No doubt Shruti di this is the reason you are able to analyse mytho epics so beautifully. You are from Kerala ? My best friend is from Kerala also.

People are telling no romance in SKR.
Exactly I always thought why other people can not see the romance in SKR or any Ramayan story. I always find Ramayan and SRK most romantic. For me feelings reflecting through eyes are true romance than today's show off romance.

Even the saddest scenes looked romantic to me. The scene where Sita was requesting Ram to take her with him is my fav. The episode before BP where Sita closed the door and that song played ohh I felt that romantic and when Ram did not open the door for Sita that night though that was heart wrenching one I felt romance in that.

Beautiful post shruthi Di.
In fact I was happy that skr showed not durvasa cursing ayodha but lakshman not wanting the sin of killing a sage befalling his dear brother. Lotus in the lake yet above it. For a person like Ram it was apt. Can u even imagine loving a person like ram loved Sita and yet due to circumstances, responsibity part with her. Her painful death and still live doing ur duty. Only the maryada purushottam could but we can always try to stay detached.
Lakshman part nothing to add u have done it all👏

Yes Jeena I am from Kerala from the land of Ananthapadmanabha😃 Trivandrum 😃. Romance is always in eyes and smile. What I meant was people are complaining SKR is showing mushy romance. What I said was if they read the lines of Ezhuthachan or vyolopalli then they will run away telling how can you write like this about God 😃 forgetting Ram-Sita is avatar of Vishnu-Lakshmi and they will have all human emotions. I still remember some of the very romantic lines of those proses and poems to the extend the teacher will tell " girls you understood right. I dont have to explain" and we all will laugh.

😆😆😆 Ohh mushy romance in SRK. I did not see any scenes like that. Actually I have not seen vanbas epis yet. Btw SiRa are human avatars so it is obvious they would have all human emotions. People always forget that even some people says that Ram-Sita were gods that why they were able to do such sacrifice and wise things. Normal people are not able to do all that.
