If he had been raghunandan instead of Ram during surpi episode, he wouldnt faced the dilemma of raghunandan vs Ram post the war. Sita would have been asked to accept her souten as would have been the norm those days and everyday she would have faced AP while her love is snatched away from her. The emotional AP which Ayodhya happily brushes under the carpet.
👏👏👏
For the second post Res for now will unres by tonight Di

Now I get it. Ram had to face a Bandhan because he had followed Maryada earlier. Because he opposed other people's disgusting actions, they are giving him the consequences of it. He was a husband when he needed to be Raghunandan, and Raghnandan when he needed to be a husband. But, it is good that he only made Sita go through a physical Agnipariksha, you are totally right.

Hi Friends
Shruthi ,the bone of contention is not whether Sita's agni pareksha was accepted whole heartedly by her or even that Ram had to do it knowing that she was above being corrupted . But my real issue has always been that who gives the right for an individual or the society to raise doubts about a woman's character without any proof? Why is it so easy for anyone to question a woman's purity or her honour and every time put her through the trial by fire even in our enlightened{?} and modern society? Why could not have Ram got justice for his sister without putting another woman, who happens to be his wife through so much humiliation and pain, that in the end she is forced to resort to taking such an extreme step? Without understanding either Ram' actions or Krishna's teachings fully, the modern society seems to have lost its way in its treatment of women. It has freely embraced their actions without actually understanding the essence or even their convictions. Sad state of affairs, isn't it?
@Gowri Society is made of individuals. It encompasses both their ideals and prejudices and reflects it collectively. May be that is where we have lost as human beings because of the disparities existing between the righteous conduct and the accepted norms of the society, which has lead to all kinds of bias and discrimination.
@Sanjana the pun was using the word burn and cinders in my post.

Sruthi di, there are many people today like that- who act selfless but are actually selfish. In Seven Vows, that would be Suman's father, right? The Ramayan would be so different if everyone was like that!

Another way to think about that is that the border between individuality and the society is traditions. Traditions kill the wishes of the individual, and the society thrives on the remains. A classic example is Shanta. Dasharath, under the societal idea that a son is everything, killed Shanta from the inside. And, she relinquished her individuality and life in trying to please her father. And what did she get? Adoption by another king. Dasharath only thought about the society, not his daughter. And in Ram's case, the opposite happened. He was not worried about the society at all, all he wanted was Ram, only Ram. First, by ignoring the individual, he protected the society. Then, he ignored the society, and protected the individual. This let Ram fulfill his goal, but his life was destroyed individually. Always separated from his wife, and misunderstood by people.

True, di! The imperfect society is made by imperfect humans. We follow this, for we find ourselves in it, our "perfect" selves. But, we forget, there is a perfect law made by the only perfect being, Bhagawan. The difference between Sruthi and Smriti is so clear, but we don't want to cross the barrier to go to the other side. We can not come out of our comfort zone. But, isn't life all about difficulties and the unseen?

Loved your thoughts on the episode Shruti !
SKR had done a wonderful job of showing the difference between Ram and Raghunanadan . Had been wondering as to how they would handle this delicate issue but quite pleasantly pleased with the approach .,

The expressions were indeed perfect - subtle but strong ! Full credits to Ashish and the team .
Ram expresses his failure to protect his SITA as the reason in private whereas Raghunandan would give his reasons for being unable to take SITA to Ayodhya in the presence of the everyone !

Rightly put ,as to how each one goes that extra mile to help the other when they have perfect understanding between the couple .
To make it further more easy , the entry of Surpanaka will help them explain the situation to the world with her questioning .

Looking foward to next week's AP episode .

Yes, they have handled it very nicely, Vipraja di! I wanted it to be subtle and not loud, and that is exactly what we got! Kind of like the Mareech scene everything flowed and in a way that made sense. Ram and Raghunanadan, I like Ram a lot more!

Ram and Raghunandan are two sides of the same coin, Gauri. You cannot understand one without the other. SKR has done a fabulous job with it, but Raghunandan always wins over. That is why He is the ideal man and King.
