Today Sita's questions ascertained what I had analyzed in past episodes. The woman of Lanka is allowing Sita to escape because they fear their survival. Also Sita spoke why she doesn't want to go. That she will be questioned by society. This also I had discussed earlier. There is no proof of how Sita was in Lanka. It comes only when Hanuman a neutral person who has never interacted with her before sees her in Ashoka Vatika. He is the proof of her purity, her commitment towards Ram. It shows the selfish motive of Mandodari. If it doesn't affect her husband she will not protect another woman. Isn't that true . Isnt that what Mandodari has been doing or Mandodari like women has been doing. Motive of her action is fear. Sita denies it and make her accept the inevitable of punishment for Adharma.

Now coming to Ram. Ram says why she has to suffer his fate. Vanvass was his fate. Ravan's enemity was with him. Surpi was spurned by him. But the punishment is getting borne by her. Sita gives answer to this question when she speaks to Mandodari. Wife is part of her husband. She partakes his karma. Good or bad. She has to partake his duties too. If there is pain for him, there is pain for her too. It might manifest in different ways. It was his niyati to Kill ravan. But how will he do it without her. Lakshman's niyati was to support Ram. But how can he do it without Urmila. Hanuman's niyati was to be in seva of Ram. But again that is not possible without Ruma and Tara. So in man's mission woman plays a part. A ram realizes it. A Ravan doesn't.

A Laxman understands the importance of his wife in his swadharma, Meghnadh does not. A Tara knows her husband's time is up and accepts the punishment that is also coming to her through his death. Her widowhood is her inability to stop her husband from following the path of adharma. She is ready to accept it. What is the protection a woman gives a man. Is it the Karvachawth vrath she keeps. I am not against the vrath, people can keep it if they believe in it. And yes prayer does provide the protection. But the real protection a woman gives a man whether as a mother or as a wife is in ensuring he does not step outside the limits of dharma. If he steps then she has to sacrifice him. Yes it is painful, but that is the only way.

Now they talk about the Muhurat where if someone repents their sin they will get moksha. And if someone does adharma that will be the beginning of their destruction. I am sure Ram is going to send arrow at Bali at this precise moment. Bali is going to repent before death and he is going to be granted moksha by Lord. Why is Bali going to get Moksha. Yes Bali did adharma, but he had done dharma too. And it is the power of the dharma which he has done which is finally coming to his rescue at the time of death, giving him death at a very auspicious occasion. That's why first time Ram had half knowledge on how the brother's looked. It shows even if you have done adharma, if you have the power of dharma death will be granted to you at a time you get moksha.

Shruti ,
Loved your connect of the Muhurat with Bali !

It was indeed a very valid question that Sita asks Mandodari wrt the fear being the reason for trying extend help . Such a strong slap indeed ! It felt good that this point was put forth as it felt very awkward when they showed Mandodari as a helpless witness while sita was initially bought to Lanka and tortured by the rakshasis and shurpanaka .she could have at least tried to get those rakshasis away from sita then !

@vipraja look at the interesting aspect. Ravan look at the time, he knows about time and still decides to do what he wants. Then why he had to check time.
And Bali he doesnt look anything. He fights and dies at an auspicious moment. It only shows that if our actions are right, the things come to us at the right time. It is not a small thing to get moksha at that auspicious time without even knowing about it. Again concentrate on action than on result is highlighted here. Bali's punishment and salvation happens together

Shruthi I remember the discussion about a wife's satitva when Mandodri manages to get Amrit for Ravan. Today Sita emphatically asked the same questions. It is true whatever help was rendered by the royals{except for Sulochana} in Lanka has had its roots in fear and self centered concern. Sulochana representing the voice of truth and reason speaks out against the injustice but her voice cannot be heard amidst the cacophony of Egos, ambitions and blind faith.Sita asks Mandodri rightly so as to why she has not bestirred herself to help the other women who have been injured by her husband. I loved their scene for it was much needed to illuminate the fact that though Sita was a captive ,she was not the victim...but Mandodri ,Sulochana and to some extent Surpi were. This sort of closes the loop of her stating about the unseen chains in Lanka.
Ram has been involved in a frenzy of activity till now in his constant search for Sita, so when he takes a breather, his recollections as well as his guilt overwhelms him and he breaks down...indeed it seemed prophetic Shruthi for he will be forced to go through another separation from his beloved wife...without any hope of finding her again. I loved the fact that the scene was shown on the pinnacle of a mountain...it seems to symbolize a state of aloneness and stillness.
Savita
