@Shruthi: I agree. Guru is not from X-planet, he/she will be one from different relations only but the bhakthi bav is something lacking now.
I know the current generations and I can't help me from comparing with my student life. Even now I respect my teachers not only in their front but even at their behind. Whoever teach us the good path and laid the foundation for our success in life will be our guru. The one who guide us even in a tour is a teacher.
So I mean the jeevathma can merge with paramatma only via guru. That guru whoever be is not perfect and those who are perfect are also not respected nowadays.

@Ramya everyone needs information these days, not knowledge. Knowledge is not valued and no one has time for that also. Yes our times we revered the best of our teachers. And see if we are able to connect things today, discuss things today it is because of the path shown by people like them.
Today it is all about wealth and power. By running behind wealth and power relations are ruined. Not a day passes without seeing a family suicide in the newspaper. On most cases it will be because of debt.

A very dear topic to me too - teacher and student relationship !
Agree with both Ramya and Shruti on the lack of respect in today's times !

I guess, it is because of the lack of respect towards any relationship in today's time that has extended itself to teacher- student too.
When all a student is taught right from the earlier days is to succeed in life ( at any cost !), compete with each other and the measure of success is often the wealth one is able to build and how quick ,
Human values have almost disappeared !

Bakti bhav is a wonderful aspect in any relationship but a very essential one between a teacher and student !
This , today is quite difficult to find due to the lack of dedication in most of the teachers aswell as the lack of discipline among the students today . As we do know that the information is what sought for and that is available through various sources and thereby making the teacher who just imparts information irrelevant ! Sad but true ! It pains my heart when I hear of the various instances of how the students behave with teachers these days .
Guess , life style change is a very important reason too. The pace of speed seem to spare no time for these values anymore .
Unless as a society we realise and try making changes at our homes , to bring back the old values of discipline , respect and love for every relationship , it's hard to expect the kids to get these values !

Ram himself was an example who loved and respected everyone equally and so commanded that respect and love from others . He never showed any sign of disrespect or. Disappointment towards Kaikeyi even after her unreasonable demands !
Though it is hard for us to be able to be that perfect , it would benefit if the basics are adopted !
Knowledge in the real sense when imparted will sure lead to a wonderful society ( with values of love and respect to each of the creation !)

P.s. Shruti, I too had not related Bharat and Ram as jeevathma and Paramathma ! That was a very nice interpretation by SKR .

Vipraja you put it very well. We need to start from home. Only when respect and love in true sense comes back stability will come in society
