Janak was in rajsabha while a messenger came. From the look on messenger's face Janak knew the news was not good. He signaled Kushadwaj to take the letter.
Kushadwaj opened the letter and he didn't speak for some time. Janak asked " Kushadwaj what is it. Please read. "
Kushadwaj looked at the balcony where Rani Sunaina and other royal ladies were sitting. He began hesitatingly
" Bhaiyya news has come from Ayodhya. It says. Maharaj Dasrath has passed away"
Janak got up and he could feel Sunaina also getting up in the balcony " Kushadwaj then make arrangements immediately for our travel. We all have to go to Ayodhya immediately "
" Bhaiyya wait. There is more. After reading that I am not sure whether you would want to go" Janak could see Kushadwaj's hand trembling.
" Kushadwaj what happened. Read what ever it is. Has something happened to our daughters. Has something happened to our Son in laws"
" Bhaiyya Ram has been asked to take 14 years vanvass and Bharath is going to be crowned king and " Kushadwaj stopped.
Sunaina was already trembling in the balcony and Chandrabagha had to hold her SIL.
" Kushadwaj what is it. Where is my daughter, my Sita"
" Bhaiyya Sita has accompanied Ram to forest and Lakshman has also gone with them leaving Urmila in palace"
" Sita " was the cry Janak heard from balcony and he saw his wife collapsing. Janak looked at Kushadwaj. Kushadwaj didn't say anything. He knew still he had to make arrangements to travel to Ayodhya.
The whole sabha was stunned unable to believe their princess has gone to exile with her husband. Janak excused himself and he rushed to his wife's chamber.
Sunaina sat in the bed with chandrabagha by her side. Seeing Janak Chandrabagha got up
" Maharaj my Mandavi cannot be queen. She doesn't have the maturity. Oh my God without Sita what she will be doing. I am worried Maharaj. I hope my daughter doesn't do anything that breaks the maryada of Ayodhya"
" Chandrabagha Urmila and Kirti are there. Relax. Be with Kushadwaj. We have to proceed to Ayodhya"
Chandrabagha nodded and moved out. Janak sat beside Sunaina
" Maharaj my Sita, how will she survive in forest. That divine lady had told the truth. My child will go for vanvass. Maharaj I gave her food, I stitiched her clothes, I made toys for her. And my child what will she eat in forest, she is wearing valkal. No jewellery. My princess"
" Sunaina you are a queen don't you know the maryada. Why are you behaving like a child. If you cry we will be insulting our daughter. Do remember our Sita has accompanied her husband. Our daughter is brave. Our Janaki has made us proud "
" Maharaj I don't care about being queen it is about my daughters, not only Sita, what about my child Urmila. Her husband has gone for vanvass. My child is in the palace. Alone. I didn't do her kanyadaan for her to live such a lonely life "
Janak smiled at his wife " So who are you more concerned Sunaina. Sita is with her husband you are sad. Urmila is in the palace you are sad"
" Don't play with words with me Maharaj. We have married our daughters to princes. I want my daughters to be in palace with their husbands. Not for one to wander in forest and other to stay alone in palace"
" Sunaina have Ram and Lakshman ceased to be princes because of vanvass. They are still princes dear. See we have to accept that our daughters took the decision in the best interest of the family and also for their self respect. You should be proud of yourself Rani Sunaina. Your daughter Sita has taken the tough path of walking in forest with her husband living a humble life. And your Urmila has set another example by letting go of her husband for the service of his brother"
" Maharaj how do you know they took the decision on their own"
" Sunaina I know Ram. If our daughter has not compelled him enough he would have never taken her to forest for such a tough life, and your daughter with her questions and answers would have ensured everyone in Ayodhya gave her permission to walk with her husband"
Now Sunaina was smiling. And Urmila. " Sunaina Urmila is Sita's reflection. She would have known what her husband wants and even before he could her ask her, I am sure our daughter would have given him permission to accompany his brother"
" Sunaina now please don't cry. It will be like insulting our daughters. We have to go to Ayodhya and you should not fall weak in front of Urmila. You have to give her strength and bless her for the tough path she has choosen"
Sunaina nodded. She had understood. She knew her daughters only would have taken the decision and she felt proud of them
PS: Ramya don't know whether I met your expectation

Oh I have missed Mithila a lot. Thanks Shruthi this is so wonderful. I sincerely hope they show this in SKR. Even if they don't this OS have given a picture as to how they would have taken the news regarding the happenings in Ayodhya.👏

@Shruthi: Excellent 👏. Thank you for spending your valuable time to fulfil my wish dear.

I liked the whole track especially the understanding of father Janak about his daughters more than their mother. Its something we lack nowadays (just my opinion).

Kushadwaj smartness in conveying the message, remembered me about the beautiful letter of Janak to Dhasarath.

Thanks Ramya. Happy you liked it. See the whole premise I took from Sita's dialogue. " My father wont ask".

Hi,

This is my first post in this forum though I have been a silent member for too long. I've read many beautiful works here and all are awesome.

Your style of writing is indulging. Loved the way you have penned down everyone's reaction. Janak's relation with his daughters and his deep understanding of them is beautiful. Thank you for the beautiful piece of work.

Love,
Ashi.

P.S.: Can you please write an OS on Janak-Sunaina's meeting with Urmila at Ayodha after Ram, Sita and Lakshman left for exile? I would love to see the interaction between these wonderful parents and the brave daughter.
