congrats dear. 12th. Most important year for a student. One phase getting over. Enjoy it to the fullest even though I know it has all its associated stress. Because years later you don't remember the stress, but the happy memories of that year. So in all the stress never forget to create them.

@Shruthi: Good topic. Just entered the forum with this thought process and your title also reflected the same.😊

In this whole context, both Dhasarath and Kaikeyi completely forgot the feelings of Kaushalya. Dhasarath was certainly a good king but not a noble one. I never thought about him in this angle before SRK. Instead of saying, the show put him in bad light, I felt (after much of discussions especially with you😊) it portrayed his grey shade. King married many times for the sake of kingdom safety assurance and raj neyathi but vachan on the basis of heir 😕. Though it may be acceptable at those times, it was merely injustice to the queen.
Sadly but honestly, I feel he deserved his punishment of dying in the absence of his sons.

@Ramya yes Kausalya what would the lady feel when she is unable to bear a heir and the king marries. Of course she knew that was the way of life, she wholeheartedly welcomed both the other wives of Dasrath.
Irrespective of that even if you look from Valmiki Ramayan Kaikeyi occupied the most prominent place in Dasrath's life irrespective of Kausalya being the crowned queen.
She was sidelined and still the lady never complained as she was happy with what she have. Yes we see Shanta here and Kausalya's pain. Even then once she met the daughter she was happy. In other words we could see Kausalya was the woman who had very little expectations if her feelings were just acknowledged a bit. But neither Kaikeyi nor Dasrath thought about this lady. Kaikeyi was always happy and prided on being King Dasrath's favourite queen.
That's why I said when I watch SKR, I feel Hari does justice to his mother. Born to Kausalya he brings his father at her feet at the time of his death. Dasrath dies lamenting about Ram's loss and apologizing to Kausalya. And Hari send his dreaded weapon Sudarshan in Kaikeyi's womb. Bharat who takes down Kaikeyi ego once and for all.
For Kausalya Hari destroys the ego of both Dasrath and Kaikeyi. That too with love. I don't think anything apart from our epics can show something more beautiful

@Shruthi: True. There are tamil proverbs
"paathiram arrindhu pichai edu" (Know the person to whom who are offering) and another one "ettarukku etta palane" (everything happening to him depends on what he did)
First one for Kaikeyi who gave more importance to Manthara.
Second one for Dhasarath who gave more importance to Kaikeyi and he got the reward for it.

Narayan showed his dharm in mother's love too. This is why I chose the topic for FF.

Perfect quote from the episode. Loved your points Shruthi. They are very much needed present day.
Today every one wants to gain things fast. Be it food, job, status, money or fame. There is no time or even the urge to work for it. And the sad thing is line between the right and wrong have faded. The attitude is to attain success by hook or crook.
Coming to the scams when you are offered something that easy you really should be careful. Even the animals or birds who have less intelligence quotient than humans trust their instincts. If they are offered food by strangers they will wait n watch before accepting it.
If you decide to stick to the right path success will come to you. It won't be easy but what you earn no one can take it from you.
when I read your post I was reminded of this poem by Pertillar.

Choosing to walk on the right path,
Is going to have its obstacles.
Temptations will be there to tease,
With attempts to weaken.
And faces familiar...
Will appear to critique.

Choosing to walk on the right path,
Isn't an easy decision one makes.
It takes one to break away,
From barriers attached...
That are difficult to unlatch.
Yet...
Can be done to escape those traps.

Choosing to walk on the right path,
Is going to have its obstacles.
And some days will seem impossible.
But that path chosen,
By the one who knows it is correct...
Will never bring to one regret.
If a faith kept is strong.
And an accepting felt within belongs.

Choosing to walk on the right path,
Will prove there to be nothing to fear.
Doubts disappear!
And those things wrong that prick like thorns,
From this right path...
Eventually,
Will be gone!

Shruthi, sorry I could not come back any sooner and even now I am not sure whether I will justify my points to the fullest.
Putramoh is not new in this world, even Jagnmatha Parvathi went adamant on getting her dead son back when Lord Shiv chopped off Ganesh ji's head. Despite knowing the fact that life and death are natural process of the nature and she has to accept the fate, she became aggressive to a stage where an elephant had to lose its life to give its head to Ganesh. She never bothered to stop the Shiv Gan from marching to fetch an head even after hearing what Shiva said, that is to "bring the head of anyone (it could be human or animal) who is sleeping keeping his head in the direction of North" So Shive knew that her love for her son will cost some one else his life but still was persistent.
Lord Shiva knew in his eagerness to meet his wife (love or moh for his wife) he didn't stop even to analyze who could this boy who dare to stop me at the threshold of my house. It did even strike a doubt in his even when Gansh told him he is watching for his mother who is taking bath. If Shiva had some patience (control on his blind or hot love for his wife) to ask the child who is his mother, there would not have been a chance to chop the head which later resulted in chopping one more head. Again his love for his wife made him to order for an alternative head for his son even when he knew he should not do that.
If what Shiva did to revive Ganesh ji was out of his love for his wife and he did that even when she was being illogical in asking to revive her son. Yes, I know it is for a greater good but the truth remains same that a person who is deep love for his wife will give words to her in his vulnerable moments and a lady who knows his weakness (husband's) will capitalize that in right time. That is what happened even with Dashrath and kaikeyi, he was so happy that his wife has agreed to his beloved son Ram's coronation nd in that happiness, he gave a vachan to her to ask whether she wants and he will grant that and she being the clever wife asked for her biological son's coronation (life for ganesh) while asking for Ram's exile (death of an elephant)
If the God & Goddess are not spared of Puthra moh / patni moh, it is not so easy for simple human beings like Dashrath & Kaikeyi to outlive them. Like Shiv chopped the head in his haste, dashrath also gave a Vachan to Kaikeyi's father of crowing Kaikeyi's son after him. That was his fault so to rectify that or to pacify his loving wife, he had to bend his rule and had to sacrifice an elephant (in this case Ram's crowing) to bring back the life to the dead child (in this case, his vachan to his FIL). In both the cases, neither Ganesh & the elephant were asked for their choice nor Ram & Bharath in the current case.
Sorry if I don't make sense.

Thanks Jaya for bringing in this analogy of Shiv and Parvati. Yes that is why Shiv and Parvati are more called Jagan pitha and Jagan Matha. If you look at the stories of Shiv-Parvati you will see more natural human behaviors in them and that is why people are able to connect to them more. And Shiv do I need to remind you the boons he gives to asuras when he is pleased😆
But Hari his job is sustenance. One way or the other take care of all the boons Brahma and Shiva has given. Take care of all karmas and give results according to karma, or rather decide karmaphal. His job itself is to correct the mistakes and bring balance.
And for that he uses his wife Lakshmi and sister Sakthi who accompanies him as Maya. And he brings about the balance.
That's why people say it is easy to satisfy Shiva, but very difficult to satisfy Hari. Because Hari keeps test after test and some things we don't even understand he has kept a test in first place. 😃
That's why like Charvi's post say there are always 2 choices, 2 paths one that of moh, another that of prem. Yes it is difficult to choose Prem, but not impossible. That's why Hari came both as Ram and Krishna to tell us a human can take path of Prem if he makes an effort to understand Ram and Krishna

I understand what you are getting at.
My life revolves around Krishna, my path of Prem came easy. My belief and faith in Krishna ensured that I can't hate anyone in this world, whether they hurt me purposefully or not. I forgive very easily, I accept a lot very easily, I give out love and affection very easily; yet, I stay strong. This is probably Krishna's blessing and strength.
