OS: Kheer!
Lakshman was busy sharpening his arrows one sunny morning sitting outside their hut in Chitrakoot..when he spotted Sita walk down to their cottage with a pot of water...
L: pranam bhaabhi...
Lakshman greeted her politely befire taking the pot from her...but she didn't reply and slightly closed her eyes and her slender hand on the side of her forehead. ...
L: bhaabhi...
Lakshman worriedly said as he nade her sit down and ran to fetch her a glass ( the tiny mud pot) from inside and poured her some water...
S: dhanyawaad...
Sita replied weakly...
L: aap theek toh hai bhaabhi?
S: haan..vo bas...pratah se kuch vichitra lag raha hai...
Lakshman called out to Ram loudly panicking. ...
Ram almost came running out...
R: kya hua? itni zor se kyu pukaar rahe the?
L: bhaiyya...bhaabhi...
Ram looked worriedly at Sita who was looking vreally weak...
R: Sitae...
he spoke concernedly as his palm found its way to her forehead and felt it and then again wiyh the back side...
R: apko toh jwar hai...aapka shareer tap raha hai...chaliye bheetar...vishram kijiye...
S: parantu swaami...
R: aap kisi vishay par chinta mat kijiye...aapko iss samay viahraam ki avashyakta hai...
And the next second she was scooped off in the strong arms of her husband and led inside...
Lakshman quickly readied the hay bed and Ram gently held the back of her head and made Sita lie down ever so gently and the two fished out all he cloth the had and covered her with them...
She saw the two worried faces looking at her with deep concern...
S: main theek hoon...aap dono itne dukhi mat hoiyye na..
L: bhaabhi aapko kisi bhi vastu ki avashyakta ho toh mujhe aadesh kijiyega ...aap uythiyega mat...aap kitna kaam karti hai...isikaran aap...
He said sadly...
S: avashya...
She said with a weak smile...
R: main lakdiyaan lekar aata hoon...
Ram said placing a tender kiss on her forehead. ...
Lakshman cleared his throat and the two looked embarrassed at each other and then at him...
L: bhaiyya lakdiyaan hai humare paas..main kal kuch adhik le aaya tha...
R: uttam! achcha chalo hum...chulha jalate hai...
S: ( in her mind) hey bholenath! meri paakshala ki raksha karna!
L: ji bhaiyya...
The two soon successfully lit the stove. ...Lakshman bought out a big vessel full of water and put it for boiling on the stove...
R: vaise...hum kya banayenge Lakshman? mujhe bhojan pakane ka anubhav nahi...
S: Lakshman...
Sita called from the other end...
L: ji bhaabhi...
S: aapne konse patra se jal liya hai...chota athva bada...
L: chota..
S: hey bhagwaan! vah toh narikel ( coconut) ka jal hai...
R: kya??? offohhh! Lakshman use shigra utaaro!
Ram said while Lakshman removed it spilling half of it...
R: ruko main saaf karta hoon...tum chulhe ko aur adhik phuko...
Lakshman tried to do so a loud blast like sound was heard and Lakshman looked almost angrily and frustratedly at Ram...
L: bhaiyya!
He whinned as Ram burst out laughing madly seeing his blacken features. ...
L: bhaiyya! aap has rahe hai!
R: aapna...mukh...dekho...
Ram managed to say between his laughter...
Lakshman saw his face's reflection in the water spilt on the floor and almost screamed...cleaning it hurriedly...
R: achcha...chalo kheer banate hai...
He said still laughing. ...
Soon milk was boiling well on the stove...Lakshman was searching for kesar and found something reddish in a tiny box on one of the shelves...
L: bhaabhi paakshala ko kitna saaf rakhti hai...
He wondered emptying the contents of the box into the milk...turning it reddish...
Ram arrived just then with rice...
R: ye lo...
He gave it to Lakshman without knowing that it was actually flattened rice ( what we call pohe or poha)
The kheer looked good even if it smelled slightly weird but the two were satisfied. ...
Finally it was ready and looked somewhat like the kheer they had eaten an both served it excitedly and rushed to Sita...
Sita meanwhile was terrorised hearing the clatter of vessels as if there was a war going on...
R: Sitae...ye dekho...bhojan tayyar hai...
Sita smiled and blushed as she felt his fingers with kheer in them approach her lips. ...she ate the kheer from his hand and closed her eyes to enjoy the taste but something bursted inside her...
She put up a fake wide smile and continued eating from his hand...not caring how it tasted. ...they two had made it just for her since she wasn't well what nore could she ever want ...
She ate the horrid tasting kheer with delight. ...
After finishing...Ram made her lie dlwn again and kissed her...
R: so jaiyye ...
He bought his lips near her ears and whispered turning her a dark red...
With another soft peck on her cheek he was gone...
Just after Ram left Lakshman came to check if she needed something when he saw her blushing with a hand on her cheek...
Lakshman saw this and gave a sheepish smile. ...
Outside ...
L: bhaiyya! bhaiyya! bhaabhi ke gaalo ka rang badal gaya?
R: ( perplexed) haan? tumhara tatparya hai?
L: vo mujhe lagta hai kisi jantu ne unhe kaat liya hoga aur bas...
He said barely able to stop his laughter...
Ram's eyes grew wide and he suddenly lowered his lashes and blushed...
R: tum atyadhik shaitaan hote ja rahe ho Lakshman!
He said slapping his shoulder lightly. ...and both laughed...
L: chaliye ab hum bhi bhojan karte hai...
He said and the two sat down for lunch...
Ram made a weird face as he had the first morsel...
L: kya hua bhaiyya...
R: kheer chakh kar dekho ..
He replied sadly...
Lakshman tasted it and made a disgusted face...
L: chhiii! kya hai ye? itni bhayankar kheer toh maine aaj tak grahan nahi ki...
R: aur Sita khati rahi...
Ram said as realisation dawned upon Lakshman as well...

Sita was feeling even sick after eating the kheer and emptied out almost whole of it...
She immediately lay down seeing the two approach...
Ram sat down besides her and held her hand...
R: mujhe shyama kijiye Sita...aap swast toh haina? aapne bataya kyu nahi ki kheer...
He trailed off sadly...
L: haan bhaabhi aapne use grahan kyu kiya?
S: bhojan ka swaad usmein dale padartho ka nahi usmein mile prem se aata hai...aur mere liye yah kheer vishv ki sabse swaadisht kheer thi kyunki iss mein jitna prem tha utna aur kisi vyanjan mein nahi...
R: aaj aabhaas hua ki keval Mithila gyaan ki bhoomi nahi apitu uski putri bhi gyaan ka bhandaar hai...
L: satya kaha aapne bhaiyya...
S: achcha...ab mujhe jaane dijiye...main bhojan punah banati hoon...
R: parantu...
S: aap chintit mat hoiyye...main ab swast hoon...
She smiled at him as he helped her get up...
Ram and Lakahman sat there as Sita left to cook...this is when they heard a scream...
R: Lakahman yah toh tumhari bhaabhi ki cheekh hai...
L: haan bhaiyya...
R: shigra chalo...
They rushed to the kitchen in the corner of the hut and saw Sita with a hand on her forehead...they niticed the shabby kitchen that looked like a battlefield of a big war...
S: hey ishwar! ye kya hai?
R: Sitae vo...
Ram scrunched his eyes...
S: meri paakshala!
Sita almost cried as she sat down to work leaving the two brothers shocked, horrified and stunned!
