REALIZATIONS CONTD.
Urmila walked towards the lush green area of the Ashram, where the Ayodhya royalty were staying. She loved this area as it was absolutely breathtaking, and so serene and peaceful, that the second she sees the place itself, all her problems and troubles vanished. And it was here that she was heading to, to find the Maharaj Dashrath and his four sons.
Will I see him?', thought Urmila. Immediately, she admonished herself, and thought, Urmila! Stop. Of course he will be there. Couldn't you see the excitement on his face when he found out his father and brothers were coming? Of course he will be there'
She stopped for a second, and mumbled to herself, "Urmila! You are the daughter of Rajarishi Janak and Rani Sunaina, the sister of Rajkumari Sita, the disciple of Mata Gargi. Please don't get tongue-tied and say something stupid"
"You get tongue-tied?", came an amused, familiar voice. "And say stupid things? Since when? Last I checked, you had the ability to silence my brother"
Urmila turned to see her Jijashree standing there, an amused smile on his face. She blushed, understanding his implications.
"Pranaam Jijashree", said Urmila, automatically folding her hands in a polite Namaste.
"Pranaam", said Ram, folding his hands as well, smiling at Urmila. "Is there anything you need, Urmila? Any help from my side?"
Urmila, looking at her Jijashree's teasing eyes, blushed.
He knows', was the thought that entered her mind.
"Ji Nahi! I came here to provide food for you, your father and your brothers", said Urmila.
"You made the food yourself, Urmila?", asked Ram, still smirking.
"Yes Jijashree", said Urmila, blushing lightly, realizing why Ram was asking her this question. Apparently, he knew everything.
"Chalo. Pitaji and my brothers must be waiting", said Ram, bowing lightly to her, indicating that she walk first.
"Ji", said Urmila.
"Urmila, I have a question for you", said Ram, as they were walking.
"I will answer it to the best of my capabilities", said Urmila, smiling at her Jijashree.
"Those paintings present on all the walls of the cottages in the Ashram. Who did them? It doesn't seem to be Sita's style", said Ram.
"Those? They are not Sita Didi's style Jijashree. They, however", she faltered.
"Are yours, aren't they?", said Ram, looking at Urmila shrewdly.
"Ji Jijashree", said Urmila, looking embarrassed.
"They are beautiful, Urmila. My father was in all praises for them, and my three brothers, especially Lakshman, loved them", said Ram, smiling at the colour that rose in Urmila's cheeks at just the mention of his little brother. He had had a feeling in the Gauri Mandir, when he had first met Urmila, that she would play a major role in both his and Lakshman's life. The day she had come to invite them for food confirmed that she was ideal for Lakshman, considering that she was easily able to retort to Lakshman's sharp and quick wit. He knew that in his entire life, Urmila was the only one to provoke this kind of response in Lakshman. Hmm. He would talk to the Gurudevs today, and then to Pitaji.
Ram turned to see Urmila deep in thought. Realizing that they had arrived, he said, "Urmila?"
"Jijashree", said Urmila, looking like a deer-caught-in-headlights.
"Come on. Pitaji and my brothers are there this way", said Ram.
"Ji", said Urmila.
She walked towards them, along with Ram.
"Pranaam Maharaj Dashrath. Pranaam Rajkumaroan", said Urmila, bowing her head, before slyly looking up, to see Rajkumar Lakshman, whose hands, though folded in a Namaste, was looking at her tenderly. She felt red flood her cheeks, and quickly looked away, addressing Maharaj Dashrath.
"I am Rajarishi Janak's younger daughter Urmila", she said. "Maharaj, I have brought food for you and your sons"
"Thank you", said Dashrath, already impressed with Urmila's manners.
"I also welcome you and your sons to Mithila, Maharaj", said Urmila. "It is our greatest gift that my Didi is marrying your eldest son"
"No no. The gift is ours. To be associated with a kingdom like Mithila, in the holiest of ways, is a blessing for the entire kingdom of Ayodhya", said Dashrath.
Urmila smiled, and then said, "Give me permission to leave, Maharaj. Mata Gargi is waiting for me"
"Of course, Urmila. Please. Go ahead", said Dasrath.
"Pranaam Jijashree", Urmila said. Then she turned to the two newly arrived Rajkumars, and said, "Pranaam"
Finally, turning to Rajkumar Lakshman, she said, "Pranaam"
Looking up at him, she saw that his look was still tender, but with a lot of passion entwined with it. She felt herself go red, and with a final bow, turned to leave. Even as she turned, she could see the small smirk on her Jijashree's face, thrown at Rajkumar Lakshman, whose eyes had not wavered from her for even a fraction of a second. How did no one notice? Except her Jijashree, who always seemed to have one eye on his younger brother. Apparently, it was only Rajkumar Lakshman who brought out the well-hidden natkhat side of her Jijashree. Just like it was with her and Sita Didi. Smiling to herself, Urmila left to find Mata Gargi.
As she was reaching Mata Gargi's Ashram, Urmila saw that Mata Gargi was waiting for her. She rushed to Mata Gargi, and touched her feet.
"Get up, Putri", said Mata Gargi. "I know I said come to debate, but I suddenly got some work. Will you come by after you eat?"
"Ji Mata. Do you need any help with your work?", said Urmila.
"Nahi nahi. You go and enjoy Mithila and all that it offers you", said Mata Gargi.
"Ji Mata", said Urmila, turning to go to the palace, pondering over the unusual behavior of Mata Gargi.
Meanwhile...
"This food is fantastic Pitaji", said Shatrughan. "Don't you think so Bharat Bhaiya?"
"Yes it is", said Bharat. "Who made it though?"
"Probably Sita Bhabhi", said Lakshman. "She makes the best food. This food tastes exactly like hers"
"But it was not Sita who cooked it", said Ram, smirking at Lakshman.
"Then who was it, Ram Bhaiya?", asked Shatrughan.
"Urmila", said Ram, smirking wider at a now surprised Lakshman. He added, "She told me herself"
"She cooks really well, right Lakshman?", asked Bharat, unknowingly adding to Ram's enjoyment at seeing Lakshman's discomfort.
"Ji Bhaiya", said Lakshman, smiling lightly at his Bharat Bhaiya, and then turning to give his Ram Bhaiya a look that said, Bhaiya, what are you doing?'.
Ram smiled at Lakshman serenely, and then said, "Not just this, Pitaji. Those paintings that we were admiring on the walls of the Ashram was done by Urmila as well"
"She is a girl of many talents", said Dashrath, now observing Ram and Lakshman. There was something they were hiding. But what?
"Ji Pitaji. She is also a bold, adventurous girl, who has a great interest in politics and has a knack for it as well", said Ram. "Additionally, she loves to debate with Mata Gargi, and reads a lot as well"
Turning to Lakshman, he added, "You weren't there at the time Lakshman. You were with the kids of the Ashram. Mata Gargi was telling me all about the four sisters that day"
Lakshman blushed, realizing that when Urmila had brought food for him, Ram Bhaiya had been with Mata Gargi. He had a feeling that Ram Bhaiya had specially asked about Urmila, as Ram Bhaiya knew about his feelings for Urmila. Even before he did. Lakshman had given up trying to deny his feelings for her, ever since that snake incident had happened. He knew that the moment he saw her, he thought that she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
Lakshman sighed. This Ram Bhaiya of his was upto something, which was rare, but apparently pretty frequent when it came to Lakshman himself. He turned back to his food, which he knew he would enjoy with a new relish, as his Mila had cooked it.
Hold up!', he thought. Since when was she my Mila?'
Since you fell in love with her', taunted his inner voice, which sounded a lot like a teasing Ram Bhaiya. Lakshman sighed and gave up, knowing that his entire heart, body and soul were in sync when it came to Urmila.
At the Mithila Raj Bhavan...
Urmila wondered what was happening. First, Mata Gargi, who was always open to debate had said that she had work. And now, her parents told her and her sisters to relax for today, as from tomorrow, everything will be a rush. Though her parents looked at her longer than they looked at her three sisters. She felt like they were all thinking or planning something for her, but they are trying to be secretive.
She sighed, and made to make her way to the Ashram. After all, Mata Gargi had asked her to come after eating.
On the way to the Ashram, Urmila started wondering, Did they like the food? Did he like the food? Did he eat to his heart's content? Oh God! What if I hadn't taken enough food? What will they think of my parents? And of my upbringing?' Her thoughts spinning around her in this way, she mechanically made her way to Mata gargi's Ashram.
Reaching Mata Gargi's Ashram, she saw that Mata Gargi was nowhere. Sighing, Urmila wandered off to the area where she knew the children would generally be at this time of the day.
"Urmila Didi! Urmila Didi!", came a gaggle of voices.
Urmila looked at the children with affection and love. She loved these children. They were like her own little brothers and sisters. This made her spoil them. They pulled her towards the warfare arena, and she let herself be led.
Once there, Urmila decided that now would be as good a time as any to practice her sword fighting. She picked up her sword, and started practicing all her techniques, without bothering about the fact that she was not in her actual warrior clothes.
As she was done, she heard footsteps, and turned to see...
