@ Swati- Menaka was the apsara...or the celestial danseuse sent by Indra..king of gods on Earth to disturb Vishwamitra from his meditation, since he wanted to become a Brahmarishi. So she does her bit, lures Vishwamitra in, seduces him but later on falls in love with him. Vishwamitra on the other hand left the life of an ascetic and started off an affair with Manaka...and the couple lived together for 10 yrs after which they had a daughter named Shakuntala. But when Vishwamitra learns of Menaka's deception, after the birth of Shakuntala...he leaves her and curses her that they would never meet again in their life time. I guess Vishwamitra initiated India's first celebrity live-in relationship😉😆

kavita kane also wrote a book on Menaka that deals a lot with Vishwamitra...i think it was somewhat better than sita's sister but i guess there were less expectation since i didn't know as much about menaka or vishwamitra...still an interesting read though
