so, I had the fun of seeing both the episodes together back to back...
Dashratha's decision and Janaks joy
And then the reactions of the boys and the girls were interesting to watch ...
So lakshman - man mein laddoo foota
Urmila ke bhi man main laddoo foota
Shatrughana ke man mein laddoo foota
Aur shrutkirti ke man mein bhi Ek aur laddoo foota
Bharat ke man mein bhi laddoo foota
Lekin... Lekin... Lekin
Mandvi ke man mein nahi foota
Aur Bharat ka phir dil toota
But this is not a modern Indian tv show,
So mandvi is not emotionally blackmailed about khandaan ki maryada
Nor does Kushadhwaj have a heart attack
Nor does someone get slapped, or kidnapped by someone
But this is Mithila - where Janak as a father has no qualms about accepting that he was hasty in his reaction
Where Mandvis choice is important, and her right to refuse a 'suitable boy ' is not questioned
And where Janak talks to Sita like an equal, and doesn't chastise her for pointing out his mistake
And the boy in question is Bharat - who not only is sensitive to mandvis reluctance in saying yes,
But is also sensitive to the fact that for Janak to say no will be delicate, and so he offers to take the onus to giving mandvi a dignified way out!
Toh, jab aisi family, aur aisa ladka Ho toh aur kya
Mandvi ke man mein bhi laddoo foota
Aur Ek Nahi, teen teen laddoo foote Ayodhya mein, kekeyi ke man mein - yeh toh surprise Ho Gaya
So now we get to see three way rejoicing
One in Mithila
One in Ayodhya
And one in vaikunth
Where the Devi devtas are also planning the wedding
On one hand we have our current shows which talk only of forced marriages and majboori
And on the other hand we have Rama advice Bharat - if she is not happy to marry you, how will she spend a life time committed to you
So, once again, beautiful message and wonderfully sorted out emotionally mature characters
With plenty of food for thought
Tomorrow - looking forward to Sita's reply to prophesy of vanvas ...
