Background of the scene - Ram and Laxman came to the palace for dinner. Also earlier in the day a messenger from Ayodhya arrived informing that Raja Dashrata is more than happy with the union of Ram and Sita and he along with his family will be arriving soon.
Ram was passing through the long corridors of the palace, looking for Laxman. Ye Laxman kaha chala gaya,' he thought. He was still looking for him when he saw Sita standing in the moonlit balcony of her room. He hesitated for a moment before entering. The room was dimly lit with moon being the main source of illumination. He stood beside Sita and saw her lost in thoughts; her expressions conveyed she was worried about something. "Aapki ulajhan ka kya karan hai ?" his voice startled her. She wasn't expecting him there.
"Jee ... aap ... aap yaha... kab aaye ?" she said between heavy breathing. His closeness was having an unprecedented affect on her.
"Bus abhi hi aaya." They stood there in silence for sometime before Ram said, "Aapne mere prashan ka uttar nahi diya."
"Jee wo..." she didn't want to lie to him and couldn't gather the courage to tell the truth.
"Aap mujh per bharosa ker sakti hain," he said in his soft voice.
Sita looked in his credulous eyes, yes she can tell him. "Wo mujhy bhaya lag raha hai."
"Kis baat ka bhaya," he sounded extremely concerned.
"Ki aapka parivaar mujhay apna payega ya nahi, ki kya main aapke kul ki maan prathishta ko kayam rakh paaungi. Yadi mujhse kabhi koi bhool ho gayi toh..." she couldn't complete her sentence but Ram understood her fear and anxiety. She was going to uproot her whole life and move with him to a completely new place. She will be surrounded by new people, new relations, new customs and traditions, her fears were not baseless.
"Sita aapka bhaya niradhaar nahi hai parantu mujhay poorna vishwaas hai ki raghukul ko aapse behetar kulvadhu nahi mil sakti. Aap har tarah se saksham hai kaushalraj ki maan prathishta banaye rakhne ke liye. " He paused before he continued his sentence, "rahi baat mere parivaar ki toh nishchint rahiye Sita, mere parivaar ko aapse aati sheegrah prem ho jayega jis parakar mujhy ho gaya hai." Sita's cheek turned red when she heard the last part of his sentence meanwhile a strong blow of breeze removed the vile from her head. Ram realized what exactly he said and smiled slightly seeing his would be wife's shy smile. The bright, full moon witnessed his first ever love confession.
