Since each person has his or her own way of praying or worshipping, I don't want to make any comment on the level of Bhakti in terms of offerings and donations. Just because a person donates more doesn't make him any less Bhakt or showing off. If he has enough money to offer, then let him do so where in the same will be used for the welfare of the society in terms of free medical facility, Annadan for the pilgrims and needy people etc. Yes it is wrong if one donates money and to do so, he take loans thinking unless he offer more, God will not grant his wish. On many occasions, the donations are used by temple authorities to organize sammelans, Geetha recitals etc. which are good for the society and when we can't do that at personal level, it is better to be part of it by donating whatever we can.
But if one feels that I have donated lacs or crores to this temple and so, only my words to be heard and I am the only devotee and others are inferior to me is absolutely wrong. For God Diamond studded Crown on his head and a single flower at hid lotus feet are same. It is our mind set and our ability to assign ourselves to his service and belief in him that he is there for me at all crucial moments and he will make me pass through the hurdles, only if I do my part of the duty with earnest efforts.
For me, bhakti is nothing but our belief in God and the purity of that belief. There was no dispute that Ravan was big devotee of Lord Mahadev. But s the time passed, that Bhakti was overshadowed by his Ahem on reaching its saturation point (by getting all the boons expected without any hurdle) and instead of Bhakti towards lord, he started feeling that he is the Bhakt and his humbleness was replaced by garv of being the No. 1 devotee which made him think in those lines that if not for him, what will lord Shiv do? without a Bhakt, what is the purpose of a God etc. This theory is well established in movie (I have seen this in almost all south Indian Languages) by a beggar that if there were no beggars, then to whom will the riches donate and call themselves as donors? So it is because of beggars, that the riches are getting some Punya etc.
Even Ravan had started thinking in those lines that If Lord Shiv didn't hada Bhakt like Ravan, who will pray for him and do penance for him etc. When Ahankar overshadows the Bhakti, the person becomes self obsessed and will think if not for him, there is no world or no meaning to this world as everything revolves around him and his needs.

So we get a fatal...and most entertaining...failure of the Great bhakt ever-------------Ravaan...
ahaaa The episode was bang on-----------------👏

What a blow ...Raavan is the big fool who never understand ...simple things in life

THE breathtaking moment when Raavan literally had lifted the dhanush and there was a moment of all tension and silence...Janak ..sunina and the sisters were bang on...the fear the anxiety...of Janak and sunaina bang on..

And then suddenly-------Dhanush fall ahaaa raavan and malyavan exp uff are treat to watch-----------

Today the show goes to janak and Mahadev ahaaa and obiviously to raavan,...

And then the most awaited ...Raavan ki nautanki and again to hide his flaws he strted blame game and questions sitas birth and accuse janak of hiding the truth ..thank god sita knows ..the truth i am glad to gargi maa👏.

AND then janak--sudden fall was ahaaa and his apolizes to sita..janak is example for those father who never think once before...kill the female foesticide in the Womb...😲👏

Janak a perfect father of a incredible and perfect girl sits..

Mahadev -------said ----Bhakt ki asli bhakti ka abash...jab hota hai na to woh sab se bada dukh ka san hai..agar raavan mera sacha bhakt hota to devi sita aur janak rihi ka apman kabhi na karta...👏

Raavan ahakankar ko apni bhakti samjh raha hai jo ki keval ahankar hai aur jaha ahankar hota hai waha agyanta lupt hoti hai👏👏👏

Even mahadev was devasted and literally frustrated of raavans ...attitude and mistakes after mistake...and i can see the pain in shivas eye..and smile that ab to Ram hi ravan ke bhram aur bhakti ko todengey...

Ram is literally saviour of raavans but alash but that ahankari praani never undesrtand this...

and last but no the least the entry of Ram jiii and sitas and ram eye exchange and ASHISH MADDY bang on...

they are talking thorugh eyes as ram is sayin dont worry sita i am here now and sita was suddenly become calm and hppy seing that his ram hi here now ...then i am now feareless👏

Kudos kudos kudos..

But only one ...complain bring back Ravvans aka jks own voice i am missing his south indian touch pleaseee i want my jks vpice bass👏😊

Bhakti is something which is a persons own and private choice nobody has right to comment it ..as u cant force anybody...to bilieve in those..

everone has thier own way of offering his or her prayer...if we sit quitely and close ur eyes...and recall all our misdeeds and deeds that is also a bhakti.

and a person...who is highly dedicayed to his work ...rather he sacrifised his own happiness for the sake of the profession is aslo his bhakti his way of offering to almighty..

It is never wriiten in any purana...,vedas that to prove ur bhakti u have to visit...temple ,offfer sweet ..do havan and pujas etc...as god himself doesnt need those.

the only thing is that...just do ur karmas right and devoted ur self to ur work and if u trully want to bhkat then please serve the society...serving society is the best way to be connected to the god...

and overall for real bhakti u have to be first a real human...only then ur be able to...connect trully to the god...which raavan never ever understand...

@jaya beautiful, as usual practical. I am not against making donations or doing poojas. As you rightly said each person has a way of showing his Bhakti. My post was only about my way or highway approach to Bhakti which is mostly practiced in today's world. I mean if we don't do this ritual this will happen etc etc..
Because personally I was a confused person in teenage years because of my inability to adhere with conventional ways of showing Bhakti. I was a bundle of contradictions. I used to cry a lot in silence as inadvertently people will end up telling I will be at the receiving end of some curse. So it was a struggle to stand straight. My every problem was attributed to this lack of conventional Bhakti. Arrogance, Self confidence everything I have heard. From comparing me to girls doing pooja to making garlands and how good they were to how bad I am the mental pain cannot be explained.
This post was mainly to those people like me who might me very much rationally oriented, who are as confused as me when I was a teenager, who might be getting barbs the way I got. To tell them that they are not doing any sin, they are just expressing their bhakti in a different form.
@antika you beautifully mentioned what Bhakti can be. 👏👏👏. Hope more people understand it.

@ Shruthi, even I don't do pooja on daily basis as I can't find enough time to concentrate on that. For me if I do, I should do it with concentration and on working days, with my rush, I can't find that. So, on weekends, if I feel like doing pooja or prayers, I will do that without any hurry. I do visit temples as I get peace in that serine atmosphere and the crowd doesn't bother me at times. If I am totally disturbed, I will look for a peaceful temple otherwise, I am OK to visit the crowded temple of Tirupati.
Festivals I love because that is the time the whole family gather together and for that matter, I prefer to hold some pooja's at home. People might refuse to attends parties but will for sure attend the Pooja's and I can serve some delicacy's to family a swell as for the inmates of a nearby orphanage. I do donations to the temple at the same I will serve the orphans and Old age home people with food as and when I find time and energy. It could be pongal, or our birthdays or anniversary, we will ensure lunch or snacks or dinner is served at the Orphanage and theuir blessings are befallen on us.

Yes yes Jaya as I grew up, got married like you I have seen poojas as a medium to connect with relatives. And I have also understood rationally certain practices that goes with it. In Navarathri and all we do haldi-kumkum and I participate in it. I have taken it as a way to get elder's blessings and also to keep our culture and stories intact. If the apsects of Poojas, the culture, the stories associated with it can be explained to our youngsters they will appreciate the practice in a much better way. And post marriage my husband had told me another reason for visiting temple is to look at the architechture, to look at the culture and practices that vary from place to place. He loves to pray in temples, but is very fascinated with architechture and other aspects of the temple, which even I could appreciate. Yes I can pray in my nearby temple, but to appreciate another culture, another practice visiting temples at other places will help.
If we can give practical advice, rationality to our Bhakti the next generation might turn out to be real Bhakts than we actually are. They might able to strike the balance between going to temples, doing poojas, and doing social service also.

One more thing Jaya. Your posts are always of practical wisdom. I see you as a lady who has understood society, its idiosyncrasies, yet have carved out your own way to deal with it. With your practical solutions you have learnt to co exist which is a very rare quality. And your posts I always take it as learning, because I grew up rebel, opposing this and that. I knew the problem, but didn't know the solution without offending anyone. It has been a slow process for me to learn to co-exist and your posts always help with looking at situations with a practical approach.

Sometimes Shruthi, sometimes, we have to do something just to give a momentary happiness to our parents and if by folding hands in front of the God, and by not eating few morsels before prayers can make them happy, there is no better way to please them than fulfill their wish as we don't lose anything by sending a silent prayer to God and at times, we may not eat till noon due to our work load ( during childhood, it was due to homework, or craft work or story writing or reading) and why to be rebellious when mother ask us to do that on festivals. If we make her unhappy, then what is the point in celebration? And my daughter has also believes in those lines.
So my principal was that if I can make my mother happy with a mere 5 minutes prayer, let me give her that happiness. After that even if I brought 10 of my friends from street, she never complained to feed them.
So my only advise to the younger generation is that if your small acts can make your elders happy, please never shy out of it and loot them the opportunity. Give them that little happiness which will make you happy on seeing their shining face.

I am touched. Somewhere I got hurt. Thanks for making me realize certain unknown mistakes.
