If yesterday's episode raised the very important question of is it right to sacrifice the Ashwa used in the ashwamedha yagya, today's episode very clearly answered it through very thought provoking discussions with Jabali and Kaushalya.
Rama chose very interesting partners for his discussion -

his guru, who told him last night about the need to follow rituals and their significance - also they are a part of our identity as a society

Second partner was surprisingly Jabali - the rebel - the man who had the absolutely opposing view to guru Vashihstha

The man who considers these rituals a proof of man's cruelty and callousness

He infact goes on to question God, for permitting such cruelty in his/her name.

His third partner in this debate was his Kaushalya ma ... Very surprising choice ...

Kekeyi ma has a conflict regards to him, and so is not impartial in her views

Sumitra ma sees Ishwar in him, so is overwhelmed by him, she will also not feel worthy to advice him

Rama with his ability to see into the hearts of others senses this

Kaushalya ma is the only one, who will help him to make a decision

So his probing questions to her, help her to see his dilemma - and with her support is able to decide

how to follow the ritual ( guru ka maan, and kul ki reet) by using a symbolic horse made of gold

( parivar ki pratishtha - for him even a mitti ka horse would've sufficed,

but his mothers wish was to use a golden horse)

And thus saving the horse - proving to Jabali once again, the world is not a cruel place and that

There is respect for life!

The highlights of the episode were of course

Rama's words of wisdom

When he wishes the horse, he does it like a dear friend and he wishes not for victory for his dynasty,

for that would've meant defeat for others, he wishes for victory of peace and harmony

When he talks to Jabali - his parting words were - we can't leave everything to God!

His message that we have to have our own convictions of what is right and act upon them ...

Was indeed very significant

But of course most beautiful was Kaushalya Rama conversation - see with what chaturai he uses her own answers to propose the alternative

When we can't see God, we see His image in an idol - and Rama replies, why can't we also use an image of the horse for sacrifice

Rama has the quality to look for solutions where everyone wins.

We saw his sensitive roop, we saw his bravery and today we also saw him as a thinker and a philosopher

While I loved Rama and Jabali conversation, my absolute favourite was Rama Kaushalya convo, for the simple way in which he found a way out...

I rate this episode among the best in this show...

We saw Mithila Janak echoing the same thoughts

And, so significantly, today Rama called out to Sita ...

Wonderful analysis just like today's episode.

A very nice episode with such a beautiful message.
The best part was the Kaushalya and Ram's conversation. Loved it.
And finally we get to see a glimpse of Sita.

Dialouge of the day:

The Mithila scene were Raja Janak says he wants to see whether Ram will rule on the people or people's heart.

We also saw how Raja Janak too had the same thoughts.

But we got see another side of him how he respects everyone's thoughts and never imposes his on others.

As you said one of the best episode!!!!

Raja Janak though a King, is like a Rishi in his thoughts, and today we also saw that he has conviction, but is not a hardliner.

And what superb thoughts and dialogues we got today!

Completely agree with you about Raja Janak.

And about the episode every scene and dialogue had it's essence.

Loved it.

Looking forward to the precap where ram tells Raja Dashratha about a horse made up of gold would be sacrificed.

Wish to see more of such beautiful episodes!!!!

Awesome analysis and a very insightful post..
Lovely mention of Kausalya and Rama's dialog ...ram being the initiator of change doesn't force or order his views or even say its his wish ..
Kausalya would have supported ram even if he have said mom I feel its bad ..please we will do like this...and she could have given in just to satisfy his son ..but would true change has come ? No as change or realization has to come from within..
Here again he puts into action his gurus wise words as he doesn't question the tradition itself and call it absurd like jabali does but respect the sentiments and make the individual even realize an alternate that in no way would hurt ..

Most of the changes starts from home and what better way than start it from his mother even...another lovely episode with beautiful messages ..a life lesson on how to putforth your thoughts without hurting the existing sentiments..

NB:-UPD

I remember reading somewhere horse can also mean idriya or senses and in its context the message ram gives make its interesting...in our live journey the objective should not be on achieving the goal or being victorious as its perceived but to spread peace and patience even during trials and tribulations...

Another interesting thing is we get to see an array of people who's perception on the existing ritual
Dhasaratha - who doesn't look beyond the ritual and take it as it is
Vasishta -who has the knowledge of y is it so and has accepted it as a symbolic representation
Jabali who just oppose the rituals
Janak -who has the knowledge and in his heart couldn't see the fairness of it ..so wouldn:'t practice it
And then rama who sees the ritual..tries to get the knowledge behind it..then realize. The unfairness in it and actively do something to bring in a change of heart..or a change of way..

Hopefully this 360 degree of view of showing the various sentiments and feelings do continue

Lovely post, onnce again, Arshi.
Kausalya - Rama convo is indeed very beautiful, but my heart leapt with joy, as soon as Jabali came into picture 😃😆

I'am just loving , the way they are using the philosophy of Jabali to show correct conclusions by Rama .

Its like Jabali is a question and Rama is the answer ⭐️

History / ancient texts, may not / would not have mentioned Jabali, any where so extensively, in the story of Rama, but I'am truly impressed with this inclusion.

Looks like Jabali is here to stay till its time for vanvas...and I very much look forward to more of these interactions.

Beautiful analysis Arshics. I thought Guru Vasishth will give an explanation for the animal sacrifice but CV's skipped the part and went with Ram's alternative solution for the practice.

See its always matha-pita-guru-deivam(god). As we all know matha shows us our pita and he takes us to guru and in turn guru leads us to know god by enlightening our knowledge. When the move of ashwamedh yajna is actually initiated by pita accepted by guru, the ultimate choice is to go to matha to get the solution as she is the sathya roopa of god for every living beings (there are certain exceptions like kunti).

Ram went to Jabali in search of answer for his questions (CV's shows that Ram accepted him as a guru next to Vasishth, till meeting vishwamitra) where he ended up with the conclusion that the practice is wrong but there is no need for someone has to come and change it. Jabali's words clearly indicated that though we all know that certain issue is wrong and adharma, we wait for so-called someone to come and change. I feel as long as we dont have the mentality to stop/change the mistake in the society no point in simply blaming others. We are also part of society and we should not be an invertebrate.

Kaushalya's thought of making golden horse once again (next to golden shanta statue) laid the foundation for the sita statue in later stage.

The thought of Ram and the reaction of Sita was a beautiful portrayal of the CV's to highlight the understanding aspects of Ram-Sita w/o even knowing each other.

So sentimentally, Sita (lakshmi) intro is going to be on Friday. I like it.

I liked the entire dialogue of today's episode. My appreciation for the CV's and their team.

@Ramya awesome analysis .. loved it.. you brought out the finer points very well

a lovely explanation on what transcribed ..awesome👏

thanks for that insight . 👏👏. hmm i thought jabali is just a rebel.. but your insight make it very clear .. a guru can guide either ways ...

@prav2: Thank u. We all have different opinions about the same thing. We can discuss and accept which we feel appropriate. This is what I learned from epics, puranas and history.
