| Aashka Goradia, the new entrant in Sindoor Tere Naam Ka is in the Intensive Care Unit, at Sai Clinis of Goregaon. Owing to gruelling shooting schedules, combined with the indifferent attitude of production houses, over-worked TV actors are exposed to a host of health hazards. Aashka is, evidently, a victim of this over-work. Says a source from the production house, "Aashka was working continuously and hadn't had sleep for many nights. She was fatigued and had been suffering from breathing problems for the last few days. On Friday night, a havan sequence had to be shot for the griha shanti scene. Aashka was very uncomfortable doing the scene. Since director Debashish Dhar was absent that day, his substitute Santosh Bhatt had taken over as episode director. But he was unable to change the sequence as it would have meant interfering with the script."
The source adds, "When the havan was lit and smoke billowed out, Aashka began gasping for breath. She asked for a break and rushed to her make-up room. There, she collapsed. All the unit members rushed to her. Soon, she had to be rushed to the nearby Sai Clinic."
Sachin Shroff aka Dhruv, her co-star in the havan scene, says, "I was in my make-up room preparing for my scene. Suddenly, there was a big hullabaloo and we all rushed to the set. I saw that a breathless Aashka had suddenly collapsed and everyone was crowded around her. Ultimately, we had to take her to the hospital."
Santosh Bhatt, the acting director, says, "Aashka left the scene midway as she was feeling uncomfortable. She could not breathe and collapsed in her make-up room."
Why was the scene not changed in view of her breathing problem? "We can't change scenes on the spur of the moment as it means interfering with the script. I have nothing to say beyond that," he replies.
Aashka, who is still in hospital, was not available for comment.
