I would like to start off by stating that the reason I started watching silsila was for mauli. I absolutely adored her character. Not exactly what she turned into later. But how she started off as.
Mauli was shown as a loyal woman with a backbone of steel. She was practical, opinionated, loyal, loving and so brave. She squared off with an abuser and never backed down. And as a kid, I had a soft corner for mishti because she was mauli 's daughter.
It is unfortunate that my love for mishti did not transfer to the adult mishti. Maybe because I was searching for my fierce mauli in mishti.
Mishti however turned out to be a perfectionist people pleaser. And i have no idea why she turned out that way. She cares way too much about what would be pleasing to other people compared to mauli who honestly was refreshing with how she didn't care what people thought. Mauli loved with wild abandon and then was loyal to a fault. Mishti is in a relationship because it is perfect? The commitment jaap makes no sense because none of her parents would have wanted her to be in a relationship out of commitment. None of her parents were that way. Neither ishan nor mauli.
I do not know whether it is intentional or not. However the way pari is written reminds me more of Mauli than Mishti. Well except the infatuation with Ruhaan part. Honestly that is a tad bit disturbing.
I really wanted to love Mishti. Dammnit gajra. I wanted to.

TBH i felt the lil bit of Mauli in pari..but we haven't seen Mishti's character yet..like the way they had shown pari , Mishti is not explored or shown yet..young Mishti was rebellious back then..she even questioned her mom for her indecisiveness..I guess we ll have to wait for elder Mishti's POV..

Actually I have a different view regarding this. Mishti is a mysterious character.

We all expect Mishti to be like Mauli, but what we forget is that Mishti is her OWN PERSON. She is the way she is because of her own life experiences. She has seen her mom's heartbreak and happiness. She knows the feeling of being abandoned by your sperm donor. She also knows the feeling of being loved and cared for by a father who doesn't share her blood, but shares her soul. She has experienced both.

She knows that relationships built on solely attraction and chemistry don't last. That it's very easy for some people to abandon their partners for someone else. She is DEAD SCARED of facing the heartbreak that her mother faced.

From what I've seen of Mishti, she is a girl who guards her heart. She doesn't want to be vulnerable. She wants everything to be perfect. She makes sure that her family members are taken care of. She lost her parents and is now the sole guardian of her baby brother. The girl has seen a lot, faced a lot.

She knows the reality of her life, of her existence. It's not that easy to be carefree and bindaas when you're heart is burdened with the baggage of your past. She is a people pleaser because of the same reason - She doesn't want to face a heartbreak, she is scared of hurting people. She is desperately trying to hold on to the idea of the life that she has built for herself.

What is left to be seen is how Mishti finally opens up her heart, how she finally puts her guards down. And we'll definitely get there, at least I hope we do.

Sadly I think kunals bad behaviour has affected his daughters..mishty is afraid of choosing the wrong man and getting hurt..she feels if she chooses the right perfect man he won't break her heart and will stay committed to her,.and pari is just staying away from any relationships so she doesn't get hurt... So the girls childhood and more especially their fathers bad deeds has affected them..they are not happy carefree girls ..they both have issues.,yes I loved Maulis character...right up until the end she stayed the strong woman she was who always followed her heart. Even though Ishaan was perfect And a great guy she only fully committed herself to him after giving him her heart,..there was no compromises with Mauli..she said so ..to sweeety...when she committed she gave it her all..heart and soul and she left her past behind her..but I suppose Mauli is one of a kind and very special 😊...I hope the girls can relieve themselves off their childhood baggage and lead full complete carefree happy lives ...😊

I loved this post so much. Even I was watching this for Mauli.

I disliked kunan , and loved mauhaan and their mishti.

I do like this mishti too but she is a softie and people pleaser. I can see Mauli in Pari sometimes.

Pari is strong willed and high spirited Dhaakad girl just like our mauli.
But I still love mishti more, only because she is mauhaan baby

Honestly, I just want the girls to have their own personalities and not be like Mauli or Nandini. I understand why Mishti has her heart caged and why Pari put a shield around herself. Is it weird that I see none of their mothers in them?

Maybe it has something to do with how inconsistently it has been written. I understand that puberty brings its own set of challenges and that the loss of ishaan and mauli have been traumatic for mishti but to undergo such a complete personality replacement though ? Mishti was so straightforward as a child. Even after being made aware of her father's abandonment she never lost that part of herself. She did not mince her words and let her mother and kunal know what she wanted of them. She made her feelings and opinion on kunal and pari known and honestly did not give an inch to kunal unlike other kids. i loved that about her. Her childhood traits should logically be there even as an adult. Because the kid mishti would have made her dislike of the ring known.a

I agree with your overall analysis, but the only similarity I see between Pari and Mauli is the gutsy-ness. But Mishti seems to have that too. The way she stands up to Ruhaan. I feel both girls have this quality.
Mishti also shares Mauli's trait of running the house and taking care of everyone.

I find their character and personalities similar to their childhood.
Mishti was always guarded. She was brought up in a loving environment and was constantly under the eyes of her family or Ishaan. She was a simple innocent girl who wasn't street smart.
On the other hand Pari was different. She used to take care of Kunal and used to travel around on her own (the time she came to meet Mauli and give her Nandini's CD). She could take care of herself. Maybe cause she lost her mother in a very young age and she didn't have anyone to go around her.
Even during the memory loss track when Sweety comes and taunts Mishti and Pari for living with Ishaan, its Pari who says to leave the house. Mishti is still apprehensive about it but Pari assures her. I still remember her dialogue it was something like, "dekhte hai kya hota hai."
And i was like 😲 woah this little girl has a brain of an adult!
Mishti was always shy, even in school wasn't it Pari who saved her from her bullies?
So this is their characters from their childhood. Mishti was shy and guarded more than Pari because she was in the shelter of her mother's and popsie's love and protection while Pari was more wild and was street smart.

Having said that I don't find them similar to Mauli. I don't know why we keep searching similarities between them as Pari and Mishti are their own person. Why do we need to compare them to Mauli or Nandini every time?
And I still don't get why people compare Ruhaan, Veer and Arnabh to Ishaan and Kunal? 😕
We loved season one and their characters but we should get over it and start season 2 without any string attached.

Regarding Mishti's love for commitment, more than love I feel Mishti has fear. Mishti is scared of her breaking like her mother's did, she is scared that like her father, her love may cheat on her and leave her. Veer feels like a safe place for her. She knows he wouldn't hurt her. I think she tries to find Ishaan in Veer. Thus she wants to get committed to him to have a peaceful life like her mother did after MauHaan marriage.
