If he wanted to be with Nandini, all he had to do was end his relationship with Mauli. He had an affair instead. He slept with her best friend and that's disgusting and spineless. So no, that's not okay. And that's not how you judge and define love.

If he wanted to just test the so called sex thing then he wants nothing but physical relations. And he's just a dick who just wants sex.

What I learned with my western mindset is that if a man loves you, he'd express it, show it in little sentimental gestures, you'd see it in his eyes not have sex to see if I'm the one. Only little boys in men bodies have those thoughts. True men looks for a woman who knows how to handle her shit.

I think people's main complaint with Kunan's affair is that they directly jumped into bed. But what if they were checking their sexual compatibility? What if they wanted to know that are they really in love or it's just infatuation? Don't say that they could've done that even without having sleeping together. Humans are complicated beings and so are their emotions. I don't see any wrong in having sex if you are in a relationship, as it's important to take it forward. Let's say that Kunal and Nandini didn't have sex, Kunal had directly told Mauli about their love, took the divorce and married Nandini. But what if he had later got to know that he wasn't really in love with Nandini and got bored of her. What he would've done? Kunal just didn't want to take risk.
