I understand what you're trying to say in terms of how certain actors are preferred over others because of their popularity. That may have to do with producers bringing in audience to watch their show. I don't think there's anything wrong with watching a show or movie because you're familiar with the work of the actors from their other works, especially if you think they are really good. However, there is a difference between watching it for your beloved actor and blindly defending the character's wrongdoings.
I like Drashti. I've seen her in DMG and Geet. She was alright in DMG, although I absolutely loved that character. I'm kinda sad that she hasn't played a lighthearted girl in so long and was really happy with the flashback of Nandani being happy for a change. And Geet really was phenomenal in my opinion. She nailed that role through and through. But, that is my opinion and perception. You don't have to feel the same way. Drashti has played not just one role but a few roles, with exceptional acting, that she has garnered so many followers. It's not all for nothing, there's proof to the pudding, so to speak.
I wholeheartedly believe that the writing of this show limited Drashti's acting ability. She didn't really get a lot of dialouges to be honest, everyone was just talking at her or around her and we rarely got to see Nandani's feelings out in the open. Yes, definitely if you're a good actor then you can surely do a lot with little, however, the audience of this show is not keen on accepting the nuances of her character if not said directly or vocalized. Therefore, it is a hard character to gravitate towards. And yes, I agree that actors do not make the show, the show makes the artist. In that case, the show did disservice to Drashti because she was not granted any real depth or character development that Nandani should have received in order for Drashti to showcase her talent.
And the reason why I liked Nandani was not because of Drashti. I am going to be a social worker, so I am thinking clinically about Nandani. The show was really interesting too and I believe it was the writers and directors that failed in letting Drashti shine.
