here we know that kunal is not here for the baby but bcz he is forced to be with mauli (as per the reports) so we know he is cheating mauli. but what if he was shown giving it an honest try.??

I agree with the maul part now that you mention it. If we notice, mauli's stance has completely changed towards kunal since she found out she's pregnant with his child... the baby has really changed things for her, and even in real life many women in this situation would be desperate to get the father of their child back. Mauli has come to terms with kunal's betrayal and that divorcing him was the best decisiom, but the baby has somehow weakened her, which actually makes me cry for mauli that now for her it's all about wanting kunal back and thinking he will come back to her for the child, but she doesn't realise that this isn't the case.
Unfortunately I don't agree much with the kunal part given that nandini is thinking more about mauli's child and the child's probable future without his father, whereas kunal is such a scum bag that he's still only thinking about himself, romance and even questioning mauli over the pregnancy with skepticism. Kunal through this track and showing no real love, happiness over this child and acting like his own child is a massive burden has proven that he's the most disgusting and incomprehensible character out of all, as nandini has at least a few times given thought to mauli (albeit going soon back into kunal's arms and forgetting mauli straight after to romance kunal) and now thought about the child's future, but when has kunal thought about mauli, thought about that child or someone other than himself and what he wants? NEVER!
