Despite the original betrayal by Nandini the moment Kunal told Mauli bt his encounter with Nandini, Mauli is immediately worried bt her. She pushed aside her personal hurt & ego & tried so hard to find Nandini just to ensure tat she is at least safe & fine. Compare & contrast this with Nandini. Nandini never ever considered Mauli as a friend. And yeah its prob Mauli's fault 2 invest so much emotion, trust & time in a 1 side relationship. But even if Nandini never considered Mauli as a friend at least she s'd feel gratitude towards her no? We will say thanks 2 a stranger if they just helped us pick up a phone we dropped & here Mauli has literally saved her life. And everytime she counts only Kunal's help. I myself made a post tat Mauli was tad pushy & insensitive in handling both Nandini & Kunal. But that doesnt change the fact that she did so much for these 2.
Yes earlier she was dependent on her family & Rajdeep but dint she never go back to Lucknow. In fact in the 1st episode they show tat Nandini has just shifted frm Lucknow 2 Mumbai. Why dint she even at least talk 2 Mauli later when she finally realized bt rajdeep. She could ve called her, she c'd ve visited her at home (think they were neighbors or stayed close by). Hell she could ve even posted a letter or a sorry card right? How I know tis never happened, coz else Mauli w'd ve told this while narrating the past to Kunal. Also she w'd ve known at tat time itself tat Nandini is suffering & w'd ve attempted to protect or help Nandini. Which means Nandini never tried 2 contact Mauli nor apologize! Tat's y I am saying I never found Nandini to be a nice person & this was way before the affair started. At tat pt in fact many were thinking tat both Nandini & kunal will suppress their love out of their love for Mauli. In fact many like me thought tat even if Kunal chased Nandini Nandini will never betray her friend. So even bef all this mess started I never liked Nandini. She was never shown to be kind, helpful, loyal, empathetic! She was always this weak person who used 2 think of her friend Mauli only when Rajdeep tortures her. She was never a likeable character frm the beginning. CVs never showed her 2 ve any redeeming qualities. Cooking for Mauli & her family, climbing a hill to fulfill Dida's mannat was gratitude not genuine love or care!
On this one I would disagree actually. In a marriage like that of Rajdeep where one can't even breath without permission, I would give her the benefit of circumstances.
My Mami is independent and she never has to ask or tell anyone before doing anything just like Mauli. She can make her own decisions and then their is my Mausi, she can't even go out without a trusted male figure and has very limited freedom in her own space which renders her incapable to even attend our family functions at times(though her husband is far better than Rajdeep). But she always has to prioritize her in-laws over her Maayke wale due to her husband which makes us think that she is very selfish at the moments.
I remember Nandini wasn't allowed to meet anyone without Rajdeep, he was the one to take her everywhere along with him which means he was controlling every aspect of her existence. Rajdeep never even agreed to have a maid to help her.
It was just by mistake Rajdeep led to Nandini-Mauli meeting otherwise had he known he would have made sure that never happens since I clearly remember that very night Rajdeep tried to rape Nandini, brought another woman to f**k and abused her later.
Besides it's completely possible for friends to lose touch after marriage. Since Mauli moved to Mumbai years ago and Nandini couldn't visit her parents house without Rajdeep who would hardly leave a sight of her. The anger and misunderstanding added more to this distance. And her guilt made her not contact Mauli.
I have faced a very similar situation in my home when a misunderstanding between my father and grandfather led to huge fight which escalated so much to ruin a lot of things in coming years. Now, he is dead and things that happened to him during my father's absence in his life makes my father regret many things. People literally made his life miserable and my grandfather wasn't a man who would easily admit if he did something wrong. By the time he came to us, we thought he was again playing us but in actual he had become a patient of alzeihmer for many years because of the way he was being treated at his own place by his own relatives he loved and that completely changed things for my father since before that medical confirmation, my father couldn't get to trust him.
I have literally seen how situations may turn bad and rigid at times which can lead to many things to regret. I remember him regretting the moment he went against my father and crying about it on his death bed. I remember my father when he took over things after his death and realized how badly people had ruined him in his absence.
So, on that point, I understand Nandini since I have very closely seen a very similar scenario in my own home.
In no way, I would justify her not believing Mauli or how she came to screw her so badly later with Kunal. But on that gap of 7 years, I would actually understand her. One big situation is enough to push things to a huge setback. I have seen things turning sour between parents and children, siblings, and this still happens to be friendship which easily fall prey to such anger and distance.
