So close but still so far

Sometimes someone is next to you but they are still not with you and sometimes someone is so far away but still connected to you. The contrast between the two relationship was done so well in the episode yesterday.

Kunal and Mauli

So as suspected, Kunal apologizes to Mauli for his behavior in the morning. He tells her that he was angry on something else and he took the anger out on her. She believes him not realizing that his anger is more personal rather than professional. Mauli knows that there is something wrong with Kunal and she wants to get her relationship back to the normal footing. She tries to rekindle it with their old tradition of "Green tea". Mauli is happy thinking that things are lovey dovey in her relationship and nothing is amiss not realizing the storm that is brewing in Kunal and that he is doing it out of a sense of duty towards her. Physically he is close but emotionally he has moved so very far.

Kunal and Nandini

It's the last night before the separation. Kunal and Nandini both are restless but ironically both are looking at the same sky reminiscing about their last memories. He wants to go to her but the hurt and anger towards her, for taking the steps to prepone the departure stops him. Finally, giving up, he walks out of the room to find her waiting for him. When he comes to her, she gives a small smile as if her belief, her confirmation, he will come to her has been fulfilled, her wait is over. She knows he is angry at her for calling the electrician and its not sitting well with him. She decided to face the brunt and tell him that I did what I did as I think its best for everybody. Kunal tell her "Jaisa chahe karo" These three words bring out all the pain, anger and hurt that he is feeling.

I just want to point out the contrast here. In the morning, he was so loud with Mauli, he said so many words but he could not convey his real frustration or pain. In the night with just three words he conveyes everything and she understands. She tells him that its not her wish but a necessity and he knows that this is the right step.

I feel Kunal knows that this is the right step, but the fear of letting her go is overwhelming him. Taking his silence as the confirmation that he agrees with her decision, she asks him to be her pillar of strength when she leaves him, when they break their unspoken relationship and this is where all her beliefs that this was a joint decision comes crashing down on her because Kunal refuses. He tells her that its not going to happen, I will not be your strength when you are walking out of my life and breaking my heart. I agreed to give you the physical distance (different house) and that promise is breaking me , but I will never agree for the emotional distance that you are now demanding. I cannot be there and I will never be there. You decided to walk away and that is your decision but I will not be part of this path that you want to walk on. You can go to your new house but not from my heart.

I guess this is the moment Nandini realizes the enormity of her decision. She realizes the pain she is putting him through, the storm within him and now its inside her and she breaks down because by safeguarding Mauli happiness, she is hurting Kunal and her own self. Sometimes its easy to take the right decision but so difficult to fulfill it especially when your heart is breaking. Emotionally close but physically moving away.

PS:

I just want to point out that they have used silences and expression so well in this show. I was first very impressed with all expressions that passed on Kunal's face when Nandini hugged him the first time,. His happiness that his feelings are reciprocated, his realization that it is wrong, then his decision that he will choose Mauli but then giving up when he see Nandini's tears. The small nod between Nandini and Kunal at the end when they first visit the house.

Today the small smile on Nandini face when Kunal comes to stand next to her, the one on Mauli's face conveying that she is now happy that everything is again right in her world. I would say it fab job been done by the all actors and directors because conveying messages with silence and expression is the ultimate test of an actor.

Also, this is just my point of view with no intention of hurting anyone's feelings.

A very beautiful post! Exactly like the makers are giving us such beautiful scenes like the night conversation of these two, you explanation of these messages conveyed by silence or chaos is really very beautiful... Keep posting!!

I know right, initially I was skeptical of how they willl do it but they have managed to show the emotions and the choas within Kunal and Nadine with silences and expressions successful without turning any of them negative or an epitome of goodness. it nice to see characters with some gray shades for a change.

like your posr beautiful explained.from day one they are using their eyes to convey everything is really beautiful, credit goes to director n actors. I have still remember their first meet how kunal was reading her eyes n he lies towords her hurt, n telling her something which only these two were understanding not rajdeep, n when he is doing her bandage nadu eyes blinking n everything was beautiful. Sombody was telling this show name was bawrai naina, i was. Not knowing it. Actually its suits.

Their scene are worth watching cv has managed it nicely.

the way makers are using their eyes.. I feel like that Bawre Nain would have been a better name
