OK i'm a little confused Moumita by the topic. I however sensed your dislike in cooking lol. So the girls that don't know how to cook are modern? Is that the feel? But what about those that cook?

Because i cook, i mean i love to cook when its not a chore lol. I've been cooking since 12, whether its making a basic tea, to curries, even pilau's and all. I love cooking/baking related shows be it masterchef, Saturdays kitchen, british bake off, Britain's best menu etc. I mean i had to learn too as a necessarily while moving out for Uni. So i beg to differ, cooking shouldn't be measured by a modernity marker. Its the thoughts behind it, i.e. cooking for marriage purpose maybe would seem old fashion but cooking as a hobby or to be independent is seen more as a progress.
I generally think its the thoughts of people that matter, whether cooking is precieved as a womans or a man's affair. Thankfully up here theres far more men chef, hence its perceived as a man's territory which fortunately woman are breaking into lol.

Anyway nice discussion

PS i aint a foodie, i just like making different dishes and feeding people, though desserts are a different thing lol
