Daily Episode Discussions Threads will be created and maintained by the DT every day. The previous EDT's will be locked, but you can access these threads by clicking the "episode discussion" tag below the title of the thread.

Please keep discussions limited to the episodes of that day as far as possible. Some references to previous episodes can be allowed for the sake of viable discussions.

A few tips to keep in mind while commenting on this thread

  • Please use this thread ONLY to discuss the episodes, keeping chatting to the minimum. Refrain from bringing in off-topic, BTS (unless it is related to the show/episode), actor's SM posts, fans' SM posts or an actor's projects outside of this show. Such posts if found will be trashed and members can receive a warning. All such updates can either be shared in the Social Media thread or the character/actor’s AT.

  • Please do not post entire episode links cause this will be considered as copyright infringement.

  • Please do not quote large posts/ posts with links/images/videos as these unnecessarily make the page heavy and difficult to load. You can edit the quote to the portion you are responding to or simply tag the member to respond to their post.

  • Please refrain from using harsh, rude, or offensive language or hurting the sentiments of fellow members or any specific groups.

  • Please do not bash or name-call/label any actor or character. Fun names or nicknames for characters are not allowed. Please refer to the characters with respect since these are mythological characters that have religious significance and are revered by many.

  • Please refrain from bashing or engaging in a fight with fellow members or fan groups. Ganging up against minority opinions or shaming members for posting their opinions/ moral policing is not okay. Avoid name-calling, using derogatory emojis or code names, instigating fan groups, making indirect snide remarks on another fan base/ member.

  • Using profanity or abusive language is strictly disallowed.

  • Do not make discriminatory posts shaming or mocking any particular group based on religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, class, caste, race, ethnicity, ability, intellect or any other form of discrimination.

  • Please do not bring in comparisons with other shows or actors playing the same character in a different show. You can use the Ramayan Canon Thread for discussions on the text/ canon divergence.

  • One Liners/Short Discussion: Detailed discussions on the episode can be conducted on the EDTs only, please post all one liners / short sentences / paragraphs regarding the episode in the Daily Episode Discussion Thread. If repetitive topics are found, they will be merged with the DDT.

  • For additional rules please read the Rules.

In addition to these rules, IF CoC and Forum rules will apply at all times.

For any further assistance or concerns, please contact the DT of the forum

I know that I will receive a lot of flak on this forum for saying this, but I couldn't bring myself to like the past 2 episodes. Will try to explain -

1.Ram's anguish was first shown when he gets to know about Dashrath's death in VR.Of course before that,he cries hugging his father when the trio leave for the forest. He looses his conscience when he hears the news and Lakshman and Sita revive him.His first major emotional breakdown happens when Sita gets kidnapped where all senses leave him.He looses control of his senses and wanders in the forest aimlessly .He hallucinates and rants. If Lakshman were not there ,he would have committed suicide. In the show ,both these scenes are handled without conviction.Nil to mild emotions from Rama.

2.After that during the course of kishkindha kaand,Ram's lament was shown in a half hearted manner in the show.

3.His first actual emotion was properly shown when Lakshman gets injured for the 1st and second time.In the first scene he himself get injured. It was neither less nor more. His next best scene would have been Maya seeta's death but it got ruined by Sita's never ending monologue and later his own dialogue that he knew it was Maya sita.I mean why the purpose of showing that he was shocked then ??

4.The first scene where everything worked to perfection was the prelude to Sita parityag. The stress and dilemma after he hears rumours about Sita, their discussions and decision to stay apart ,reluctance to let go of her ,his grief were shown in the correct manner.Sita parityag and his emotions post the parityag were portrayed beautifully even though it was not in VR.I didn't find it dragging at all.

5.Now let's come to bhumi Pravesh. The buildup became prolonged. All the actors were not present at the same time that made the reactions mismatched. While Lakshman overacted ,Ram looked indifferent before all the Q and answer session faced by Sita He may not be able to interfere but the body language was the problem .All due to the absence of actors. The reactions were delayed unnecessarily.Rama's face was not even shown once when Sita shows her kaali roop. The stand alone part where Rama screams her name and he covering his face was good but scenes before and after that were quite disappointing. The wife left the husband and the husband is devastated , agreed, and YET he is sane and rational enough to talk to all of them is not believable. The fact that he is even speaking softly is questionable .This is the scene where he should have looked totally out of control and the others should have been dead scared to approach him.The part that looked believable was him continuously looking at the ground where she disappeared .In VR,though Rama looks pleasant ,at times he looked so ferocious and menacing that people were scared to even look him in the eye.

Thanks for reading the rant ..!!

The irony is audience who never read the epic will get extremely offended if they are introduced to VR.I know ,the scenes has to be theatrical and melodramatic but it's a fine line.Even a little bit more could ruin important sequences.

That's totally true...

Also, many texts and productions are uncomfortable to portray Rama as a full human being who can grieve, get hurt and faint just because he is an avatar of a god. When the god himself chose to portray himself that way, I don't understand why human beings who claim to worship him refuse to accept it and are uncomfortable.

Yes,in the text ,there were multiple times when he becomes angry .Like in the text it's mentioned that he looks like a Rudra avatar while battling with khar. He gets injured seriously and bleed from all his limbs while fighting with khar and hence rages like a bull,he looses conscience when Dashratha 's death reaches him,Sita gets kidnapped and various times inbetween . He berates Lakshman multiple times after Sita's abduction, gets totally zoned out, stops eating and sleeping ,is not even aware of his surroundings most of the times. When he heard from Hanuman that Sita is killed ( he doesn't see it himself),he collapses. So he is s normal person with all the emotions.Yet what made him different was when he took decisions,he was always stable minded.I don't know why people can't accept this version.

.

One thing about Sujay ,he can hide his true emotions extremely well and at the same time can look genuine while others come across as fake.
