What do we talk about in this episode?

Let us start with Devi:

She is telling off Gaytri and Kanchan for visiting Aastha? Is she the dictator in this house who decides who should vist who? Ok, Gaytri lied because she knew what their reaction would be. Devi has the guts to tell Gaytri she has failed as a daughter in law since she has not got any class. It would be interesting to know her definition of class. Is looking down on people less fortunate than you considered as class? Is treating someone who is in hospital, who has just come out of a coma class, like dirt, classyx?

I do not understand why gaytri and Kanchan take so much flak from Devi. Both are supposed to be educated. A season 2 is very much required to show how these two ladies of the house come out of the grip of Devi and stand on their own feet.

Devi and her parvarish! What has Shaurya learned from her? Treat your birth mother as the lowest person on earth. call her Miss Aastha kashyap, call her as 'Tum' even though she is equivalent to Badi Maa. Shaurya is ready to jump to the defense of the woman who looked after him, who sacrificed her life for him. Treating Aastha as someone taking advantage of the Sabherwal money and name. Ok, Aastha was shocked on hearing all the venom coming out of Shaurya, she should have told him off,

1. She has been leading her life away from the Sabherwal and has never asked for anything. He was the one who came to Kapurthala asking for her signature.

2. She came to Chandigar for Anokhi and once her work was done she went back to Kapurthala.

3. She was rushed to Chandigar hospital when she was unconcious and had no say in the matter.

OK, she left Shaurya, and I still blame her for Shaurya's unhappy chilhood, but Shaurya is not a child anymore who would throw a tantrum and hurt someone and show no respect. that person has just come out of a coma!

When has Aastha, 'hak jatao' wrt Shaurya? the insultive way he tells aastha, Aur kya kare aap ke liye made me cringe. No matter how bad a person is, you do not attack that person when she is ill, in a hospital and helpless. In fact why even attack her , just ignore her as she has ignored you all your life and move away. Shaurya is toxic...

Anokhi's mouth staying agape was a treat to watch, she showed her shock so well. Knowing that Shaurya is aastha's son was a shock to her system knowing how the latter insulted aastha when she came to SIAC.

I loved the way she asked Shaurya ' would have enjoyed the situation if you were in my place?'. Good, put him in his place! For Anokhi, however much her father was bad to her, her mother taught her to respect elders. And she tells Shaurya so. The difference between Devi's and Rama's parvarish is a big gulf. Where Anokhi respect her elders, Shaurya treats people based on where they come from. That is Devi's parvarish...Today, Devi's upbringing was on the forefront, any ounce of aastha or Shaan gene was not visible in Shaurya.

For Anokhi this new face of Shaurya is contradicting her previous opinion about him, as she thought he respected women following her sister Babli's misadventure. It looks like Shaurya is selective as to who deserves his good side. Again Devi's influence is incredible.

Last part of today's episode we start seeing Anokhi and her aastha maam jaap starting. She only knows Aastha as a good guide and helper and hence her opinion is coloured

She is not to be blamed though. Her talk to Shaurya was completely justifiable. The only thing is the professor - student relationship is non existent here. No professor lifts his student in his arms to stop her from talking.

Anokhi's expression, 😊, First time she has the arms of a man around her, and she definitely must have felt something...😉. I would if I were in her place.. Is this the first time Jo tera Howega was played, the Oh Oh Oh.. at the beginiing...👍🏼

Love this episode....

I finally got over the episode and watched it. I have always loved and hated this particular episode. I love it for its last scene and the OST and hate it because its hella' toxic!

I dont watch ITV so to get through the 'vamp' like toxicity devi portrays here just pi***d me off! Usually the show has its moments but anyway...I pushed through it!

The scene i hate the most and find extremely hard to watch..the hospital. Devi arranged the scenario and Shaurya walked right into the trap. While i dont feel bad for Aastha in teams of the anger that she has to bear from shaurya but i felt bad that she was in physical pain and Devi did this. I felt bad that as a human being, Shaurya could not show any consideration. Deepa's acting here is quite good. She looks like someone in pain trying to talk. She could not meet her son's eyes for once. Devi took advantage of a woman in pain. Shaurya's misogyny was so evident here. His thought that women use men, his thought thathis 'independent' mother eventually needed his father, his thought that she has no morals because she chose to leave a family...etc...this is the worst of shaurya and his brain. Its like all his logic cells took a dive into the deep end of the brain pool and refuse to surface.

Anokhi and Shaurya...2 people right in their own perspective. When she asks him had he been in her place, would he have enjoyed it, I loved Shaurya's shock. For every question of shaurya, Anokhi has an answer and shaurya has a counter for her every answer. They are entangled and i feel Devi saw it today. Anokhi had no right in meddling in their affairs but she cannot she anyone wronged, specially Aastha. But the complexity of the matter, is way above her head.

One scene i do not stand with and wish the makers had not shown was the scene of sending kanchan and gayatri to their 'parent's hourse'. Are women a joke? Do they have no rights? This was toxic. I know Saberwaals are a toxic family and it might fit the narrative but I HATED THIS SCENE! Women are not baggage that you just throw out and i hate that itv thrives on such scenes. From my end, bad writing cv's..come up with better things!

Shaurya..still remembers how he spoke to his mother. I dont know, if he remember that in anger or regret! Here Anokhi was slightly wrong to confront him. He was already enraged and she kind of misread the situation. Shaurya is right, Anokhi does not know Aastha but anokhi is also right as she has seen the "true" aastha. Calling shaurya out for his 'anger issues' and confronting aastha in such a weak physical state was right but telling him parents cant be bad was plain wrong. I feel anokhi as much as she calls herself different, is also slightly conditioned by society.

I loved this conversation of shakhi. Here there are no rights or wrongs. The dialogues by shaurya about how two things may seem similar from afar but are quite different and the one how how if she were in his place she would not have been able to manage hit hard. And you also realize that for the first time this man is trying to explain his side of story to a stranger. And he is right in his own way, that Anokhi does not know Aastha.

Anokhi forcing him to stay was wrong. What did she think she would achieve by not letting him go? But Shaurya Saberwal is Shaurya Saberwal, his no nonsense lifting her up in a whoosh surprised her. She is again extremely aware of the 'man' shaurya is. Its not love or attraction but plain awareness. They sorry that he says, has my heart as i have seen seen it before, its courtesy! The OST actually marks the 1st major shift in their dynamic. The student - professor broundry has been majorly breached. That entire formality is outta the window now. They can never go back to that relationship. Now they are two individuals connected by Aastha. Two individuals who end up thinking about each other. The OST is also the indication of how fate keeps putting them in each other's path because "jo tera howega zaroor aayega"

Bm felt so insecure seeing Ss in hospital that she had to give a quick recount of the happenings to Shaurya and turn tables by her blunt lies. Even though Astha failed as a mother, I felt very bad for Astha being addressed in a disrespectful way by Shaurya. And it was distasteful especially behaving in such a way to a person who was just out of coma. Is he the same Shaurya who was terary eyed just the previous night seeing his mother’s situation. That is how Bm’s negativity wiped off the effect of Gayatri’s good vibes on Shaurya.

What made Ss think that Anokhi would enjoy her favourite person/ guru being ill spoken to? Inspite of being educated where people are encouraged to not have prejudice, it’s the Sabherwal blood and Bm’s upbringing that makes Shaurya have these preconceived notions about small town people. Anokhi from the very beginning has been very open to express what she felt but this time Ss looked shaken by her manner.

Bm questioning Anokhi about involving in personal matters without knowing the truth was on point( in her view). However Anokhi’s reply to BM was in the form of a question to Shaurya as to how he didn’t bother to show any sort of respect to Sstha in the previous meeting and what would the take away be to other students? Little did BM know that Anokhi can very politely show their place. By the way was it Shaurya’s concern that brought him to the hospital? It wasn’t definitely seeing Bm’s car he stopped by as he was mincing words in reply.

Bm’s controlling nature under the pretence of keeping family traditions intact applies according to her convenience. Why not to Bebo and kitty and only to Gayatri and Kanchan? It’s insulting for anyone to be questioned in the way G and K were. And The scene where Tej was comparing them to his students and informing parents felt disgusting given that Gayatri herself is a mother to grown ups.

Anokhi intrigued by ss’s behaviour towards Astha shows her fearless nature of confronting the person be it her professor. At this point of time little does she know about BM’s nature and the way Ss was brought up in Sabh house to hate Astha. Anokhi’s point that Shaurya behaved rudely without taking into consideration Astha’s condition was so true. Someone who is a nobody questioned Ss and subconsciously he started to reflect? Though not shown explicitly, Anokhi’s showing him the mirror time and again definitely has a positive impact on his thinking and it’s very much needed for Ss given that his mind was filled with nonsense and no space to think. The question still baffles me, why did he show up? Just like BM? To spy G and K… or his concern??

Is it the first time the song was played on them? If Anokhi had right to speak to her professor like that Mr Ss claimed the right to show that he was no less. Anokhi becomes all aware as he puts her down and he apologises? Really? It looked like it just slipped out as a natural reaction as he looked at his hand and became aware of the fact that he touched her.

Yes it ws the first time Shaurya went n touched her voluntarily. Last time it had been the dance where they were pushed in coz of the circumstances. Bt this time, whether be in anger or nt, he did go abt n grab her. N if u continue seeing the pattern, from this very episode he cdnt keep his hands off her. 🤣😝

The truth is out!! Aastha/Shaurya confrontation results in the first Anokhi/Shaurya discussion!

Devi is sooooo good at twisting words, emotions, and people! I admire a villain I can hate while appreciating her tactics. Devi is so selfish that she would hurt her child to keep him to herself, while Aastha would give up her child to protect him from harm. This reminds me of Solomon's judgement between the two mothers. The one willing cause pain to a child for her own selfish purposes and the one willing to take on the pain for her child. Who's the true mother?

Devi has Shaurya trained so well that he played the role of a shield. I'm glad he got some of the bitterness out. But I don't like that he addressed her as "tu". It's a weird thing that Shaurya used to go between 'tu' and 'aap' depending on the situation. Shaurya shows his false pride at being a Sabherwal by pointing out that Aastha is being treated by their money. He also got to tell her about his misunderstanding that she never called or visited. Shaan never cleared this up which prompted Aastha to do it on Shaurya's birthday. 25 years and no one(Gayatri or Shaan) felt the need to tell Shaurya the truth?

"Agar meri koyi ma hai, woh sirf badi ma hai" Anokhi finally hears the truth!! This started the whole Aastha jhaap.......my ma'am, your ma! Anokhi and Shaurya had a conversation!! She was so mature in trying to explain herself. She can't believe that the man who ranted at Aastha is the same man that told off Vineet. I liked Shaurya's reply that things from afar are not what they seem when you come near. He also shared some of his pain by saying "shukar manao ki tum mere jagah nahi ho......hoti to manage nahi kar paathi". We get the parallels of her stopping his car and our first "Jo Tera Howega". I can't believe it took almost 60 episodes to play the lead couple's background song. Ekta plays it in her first episode!! I remember googling for the song and I couldn't find it anywhere and being so disappointed! Iconic line follows the song: "Agar tum ziddi ho, to main bhi Shaurya Sabherwal hoon"

Side notes:

~ Devi was right in pointing out that Shaurya is Anokhi's professor. Good for us that they never really saw each other that way. I also liked that Anokhi never disrespects Devi. She just maturely delivers lines that shut her up!

~Shaastha scene was so sweet. Deepa is so good at playing heartbroken Aastha! I hated that Shaan was demanding respect for Aastha as Ma. He's such an insult to fathers talking about how Shaurya should behave even though he hasn't behaved like a dad.

~ I loved the line Shaurya said "Saath nibhane se hota hai, kehne se nahi". Actions speak louder than words!

~ One thing I noticed is that editing was off. The time it took for Devi to reach SH and berate Gayatri/Kanchan was how long it took for Anokhi to come down while Shaurya was still standing there at the hospital.

I'm catching up. 2 reviews in a row. If I keep this up, I could possible catch up!!

Sooooooo I think that childhood trauma is much more destructive than we give it credit. He may not be a child but emotional scars don't heal and go away with age. They're scabs that are constantly picked. I give Shaurya a lot of leeway for his disrespect because of this.

I think they're both brainwashed. Shaurya is brainwashed to think less of small town woman being gold diggers and Anokhi is brainwashed to respect the toxic people in her life and accept some parts of the patriarchy. I disagree with Anokhi/Shaan that Aastha should be respected because she's older or that she's his mother. She should be given respect as a person and Shaurya should have walked away rather than walk into that hospital room.

For Anokhi this new face of Shaurya is contradicting her previous opinion about him, as she thought he respected women following her sister Babli's misadventure. It looks like Shaurya is selective as to who deserves his good side. Again Devi's influence is incredible.

He's selective and it's based on how they treat him. The only exception he's made is for Devi. She hurt him and he still came back to SH due to loyalty.

They never had the professor/student relationship from the beginning. Probably because she go into his business from Gurdaspur. He was trying to prevent her from becoming his student. So at no point have they been professional....it's been personal from the beginning.

Anokhi's expression, 😊, First time she has the arms of a man around her, and she definitely must have felt something...😉. I would if I were in her place.. Is this the first time Jo tera Howega was played, the Oh Oh Oh.. at the beginiing...👍🏼
