When I was younger, I grew up thinking that taking care of home is the primary job for women (I used to watch a lot of ITV with mom, bite me!) When I came into my late teens, I saw a kind of fad going around where being housewife was being "uncool" or in other words, looked down upon. I never understood why though. But as I grew up, I understood things better. My own mom is housewife, so, I know what it is like and what kinda life do I want to live.
About the spice thing, in reality, taking care of the house is so hectic that women want nothing to do with drama 😆 Like you said the other day, ITV lacks originality. Given that, we need to understand that not all home-makers are majboor and bechari.
I stand with your words. Independence to make choice is the key to respect everyone's decision. 👍🏼
I don’t think I thought about male and female roles too much. My mom didn’t work outside the home for the first 10 years of my life. And when she started to, her responsibilities only doubled with outside and inside the home and two kids. My dad has always known how to do house work and cook so he was helpful to her. And seeing that I knew I could not deal with anything less.
I’m glad two income households are becoming a norm in the urban setting. I hope that translates into work at home too. Especially with lockdown, I hope partners see the imbalance of work and responsibilities that females have. I have a lot of hope for the future.
ITV will always lag behind because it’s geared towards a certain audience and to propagate the prejudices actually helps trp. So the trope of staying at home bahu will always be held to a higher standard than the financially independent female.
