Chapter 4
Anokhi went home that day with mixed feelings of happiness and nervousness. She was happy that Reema was also in the same class and all her teachers were pretty good.Then she thought about the morning incident and became nervous!
While she was lost thinking Babli came and tapped on her shoulder...
"Hey Anu, how was your first day?? Who is your class teacher? Did you like all your subject teachers?" Babli just started firing questions in excitement.
"Hunji Didi sab batati hoon thoda sa saans to le lo aap!!" (Yes Di, I'll tell you everything, but at least take a breath.) Anokhi laughed at the rapid fire questions and then started answering her "My day was great, all the teachers are also good and…." She paused.
Anokhi was again lost thinking about the morning incident...
"And what?? Tell me, why are you quiet??" Babli asked impatiently.
"And Didi, uh….uh….ya. You know who is our class teacher??" Anokhi avoided talking about the incident.
"Who??" Babli tilted her head sideways and curiously asked.
"Mr.Kohli!!" Anokhi exclaimed.
"What?? Really!! Who made him the class teacher?? It would be enough if he can teach his own subject…..how is he going to perform other duties of a class teacher??" She asked perplexed.
Then suddenly she exclaimed "Oh my God, your class is doomed, God only can you guys now. Nobody else can do anything."
"You are right Di…..though I don't know about the rest of the class but God should at least save me from him." Anokhi folded her hands looking up, as if praying to God.
"Uhhh what do you mean?? Why are you saying that??" Babli asked all confused.
"Ohh it's all thanks to you dear sister." Anokhi replied dramatically.
"Meaning?" Babli asked, getting even more confused.
"Well first he recognized that I am your sister and then God knows what took over him that he gave all his work to me. Now I am the one who has to take care of attendance everyday, along with taking care of chalk, duster, almira keys and all.
Hearing all this Babli face palmed herself. "Oh God, you are his guinea pig for the whole year now. He will make you do all his work."
"Hmmm...seems that way!" Anokhi shook her head in annoyance.
"Well, you are stuck now. Can't do anything about it, so better get used to it. Anyway, how was Computer Science?? Who's the teacher??" Babli asked curiously.
"Ohh that… uhhhh….It was fine. And the teacher is Shaurya Sir." Anokhi fumbled a bit while replying.
"Oh really! I have heard he is really good. Very friendly as well with everyone."
Anokhi looked at her in shock and asked "How do you know??"
"Some of my friends in the Science section are always praising him. In fact they say all the girls are gaga over him." Babli replied giggling.
"Ohh okay. Ya, he did talk nicely." Anokhi shrugged nonchalantly.
At Shaurya 's House
Shaurya, after finishing his dinner, was now listening to soft songs with low volume on his music system while lying on his bed with his eyes closed! He loved sleeping while listening to songs. This is how he liked relaxing at the end of the day.
Suddenly a face flashed in front of his eyes, which left a smile on his lips, "Anokhi", he involuntarily mumbled to himself!!
He then started analyzing in his head, 'When I saw her in the morning, she seemed like a carefree chatterbox, walking and chatting without a breather in between. She had a sweet innocent smile while she walked and talked with her friend after bumping into me. But when she came to the class she seemed very quiet and nervous. In fact when she came to Mr.Sharma's room, she was also the same. I wonder what she was nervous about.'
Then he answered his own questions. 'Maybe she was surprised to see me because she bumped into me in the morning!' It bothered him to see the drastic change in her in a matter of hours.
'Anyway, today was the first day she'll be fine tomorrow.' He hoped and without thinking further about it he went off to sleep!!
NEXT DAY MORNING
Anokhi now had a new routine after reaching school, she had to get the keys from Mr. Kohli and bring attendance register, chalk and duster to class and then take attendance too as asked by Mr. Kohli!
After meeting Reema she went to get the keys from Mr. Kohli who was leisurely enjoying his morning tea in Mr. Sharma's room and chatting away. But, to her surprise she also heard Shaurya Sir talking with others from outside.
She thought to herself 'Does Shaurya Sir also have to be here? Wasn't it enough that I have to do extra work for Mr. Kohli? I have to face him as well more than once, everyday?? Going in his class was hard enough and now this?' She sighed feeling irritated.
"Kahan phas gayi main. Should I go in or not??" She stood outside the room murmuring to herself and contemplating what she should do. Then she decided she had to go in. She didn't really have much choice as otherwise what will she tell Kohli sir when he will ask her why she didn't show up to take the keys.
She took a deep breath and braced herself, trying hard not to show her nervousness and embarrassment as she asked permission to enter the room.
"May I come in sir?"
"Ah yes, come come!!" Mr Kohli happily replied and handed over the keys to her.
She quickly glanced at everyone and wished Good morning while she took the keys and walked out as fast as she could. Practically running out of the room.
She let out a sigh of relief after coming out of the room and then went to the almira and got everything and headed back to class!
As she was taking the attendance Mr.Kohli came in and waited for Anokhi to finish and then he started teaching!
Soon it was time to go to the Computer lab and just as yesterday she went to put the register in almira and handed over the keys to Mr. Kohli!
Then she quickly went to the comp.lab, picked a stool and went near the door but today before she could open the door Shaurya saw her through the top half of the door which was made of glass. He nodded her to come in, she went in and just as the day before sat near the door quietly. Soon she was busy taking notes and trying to understand what he was teaching.
Later, Shaurya passed by the class and Anokhi looked at him as he was walking towards her class but as soon as he came close she looked the other way!
As the days passed, Anokhi noticed that he always behaved normally with her, just as he did with any other student in the class. Slowly Anokhi started feeling a bit more comfortable in his class and less nervous. She started liking the subject as well, she found it very interesting. But she still was not comfortable enough to ask any questions or say anything in the class unless questioned! Most of the time she would just stay quiet in the class and would purposely avoid any sort of eye contact!
It has become Anokhi's every day routine to quietly go to Mr. Sharma's room in the morning and get the keys from Mr. Kohli and hence see Shaurya too and later go to the lab to attend his class. Then look out for him to pass by her class before lunch break and look the other way when he came near enough to notice her looking, she would always look away.
Few weeks later
Shaurya at his house thinking to himself 'It's been so long and she still stays very quiet and nervous around me! I would have never guessed her to be such a chatterbox with a sweet innocent smile if I hadn't seen her the first day of school with her friend. The way she stays quiet in my class is so unlike what I saw on the first day...I feel like she is a totally different person around me! The only time I see her smiling freely now, is when she is talking to someone else and does not know I am around! I don't know why but it bothers me to see her behave so differently around me only! Sometimes I even feel she tries to avoid coming to Mr. Sharma's room and takes the keys from Mr. Kohli outside only whenever she gets a chance to catch him before he comes in the room.'
He got frustrated with his own questions and thoughts 'ugghhh forget it, why am I always thinking so much about her? It does not matter if she stays quiet as long as she understands what I am teaching, it doesn't really matter. And I think she does understand because whenever I ask something she always answers correctly! Anyway, soon the 1st semester exam will take place and I'll find out how much all the students are understanding, not just Anokhi!!'
ON FRIDAY BEFORE THE SEMESTER EXAMS
In Computer Lab
"Does anyone have any questions before the exam next week?" Shaurya asked.
Some students started asking questions. Soon a question answer session started which lasted the whole period. Anokhi also asked a couple of questions. After that everyone left!!
From Monday onwards everyday there was a different subject exam and the last exam was of Comp. Science on friday!!
All of Anokhi's exams went well and now it was Friday morning and today was the Computer Science exam! She was quite satisfied with her preparations! She reached school and saw Shaurya near her class answering questions of a few students...she wished him "Good Morning" and walked by!!
Shaurya Looked at her and thought 'Doesn't she have any questions?? She seems so calm and composed...not freaked out at all! I guess it's a good sign, she must have prepared well!!' He smiled and continued answering questions of other students.
3hrs Later
All the students of science and commerce section came out of their exam rooms with sad and upset faces as none of them was satisfied with how the exam went, it seemed like the questions were not from the book or what they had been taught at all...they were all freaking out and asking each other "Did you know the answers? What did you write for this question, that question?? Where did all these questions come from anyway? Did we even study these??"
These were all the questions everybody was asking each other including Anokhi!
Anokhi with a sad face replied "I don't know where these questions came from but I just gave the values to x, y, z and then left it like that.....I couldn't think of what to do next in most of the questions! I am surely gonna fail, I'm really worried!" She was on the verge of crying. She had never failed before. And thinking about failing made her really sad.
'I already have such a great impression on him to begin with and now this. And on top of it Mummy ji will be disappointed too!! This weekend is going to be a torture for sure! In fact not just the weekend but until the result comes.' She sadly thought to herself, it made her feel like crying then and there, she had never failed in any subject ever.
The whole weekend Anokhi was upset thinking what the result would be and how she would handle it!!
Shaurya on the other hand had taken the papers home to check during the weekend! He checked them all and was surprised to see that most of the students in both Science and Commerce sections had failed.

Anyway moving on, these two are adorable. If one is hesitant to face the other, other seems affected by their presence 😆 Unknowingly the way in which Anokhi is observing Shaurya is affecting her brain & Shaurya is confused about her
I kahi na kahi feel Anokhi will most probably be the topper in Computing or if it a for the worst, since this wasn't her choice of sub, she might fail & in result, get extra tuition from you-know-who 😆😃
