what is the motive of chandra in this fiasco? why is he doing this?

This is a show with no romantic story, saas bahu and baap bete misunderstandings. In fact the lead is a kid - and his acting and that of the rest of the cast, as well as the performance of the crew is yielding this high TRP. To do this their workmanship has to be far better than the best!
