This is a much needed post because the first promo of SM I watched was what moved me towards this show. Even before KT, I wanted Preeti to grow as an individual. And she did grow, and I hope will continue to do so!
1) Preeti accepting her daughter's help
Credits to our beloved Kusum, and we all know that. But Preeti did break past her old mindset and when she accepted Juhi's house as her own, she took a step closer to valuing and respecting herself.
2) Standing upto Mahila Mandal
Yes, I know it was for Raddi🤢 but oh, well. She relayed a very very imp message, that sikka apna khota ho toh kisi aur ko kya dosh dena. It was Tarun's weakness, and his own prejudices that he was manipulated by his wife despite being an adult. Rati may have been bad but she wasn't the only one.
3) Breaking her relations with Tarun
It came late but a mother cant just let go of a son she cherished, so easily. And finally, she did let go- slapping the daylights out of Tarun to our gleeShe made it clear to him, that she knew her rights well and he was the one at her mercy all this time. A waste of words on swine, I know and yet she did speak and let out her frustrations. Even in buasa track, she refused to spare a glance at Tarun, and I liked it❤️
4) Prioritizing her Ideals
She had thought that she lost the bet. But she refused to go with that sorry excuse of a son. She was ready to step back from her words, but she made clear her intentions of standing with her beliefs. She refused. (She should never have made the bet in Ist place but mistakes are lessons learnt the best)
5) Saying NO
THAT was my favourite. Yes, she hurt Kusum and KT. Yes, usse sirf apni silan dikhi. But atleast dikhi toh! She had lived way too long for others. It was perfectly alright to be selfish, to be wrong, to be just a human. She denied everyone the right to take decisions for her- good or bad, that was her call to make.
6) She is AUTHORITY
She stands her ground. She stands up to media, and proclaims it loud and clear. She is the OWNER of Shaadi Mubarak. She has the RIGHTS to sue those media people. She has the POWER to stop them. Yes, KT is the money in SM but he made her his partner. She accepted being on EQUAL grounds with him. She didn't shy away or step back from the limelight.

7) She does something for herself
She paid no mind to Trash tarun and rati and did what her heart wanted to- support KT by marrying him. Who would've thought preeti jindal would ever take another man to be a part of her life? Who wouldn've thought that she will defy her old sasural's customs and thought processes? Finally, she, if anything feels able enough to not only stand sturdy on her feet but also support KT and be his spine.
