From her hotel room, Gayatri watched as the people of Paris celebrated Christmas and looked at the Eiffel Tower that stood towering over everything around its vicinity. The people of Paris in the name of Christ had covered the Iron behemoth in lights that changed colours every every ten seconds.

A smile ensconced her lips as she stood taking in the sounds and moods of Paris at Christmas and slowly raising her eyes looked at the darkening skies and began praying to the God of Christmas.

' Jesus, I am not that into God and religion. But, I believe that there is a power that lies behind everything. I know that I am not a shining example of your creation. That said, I know that you know, that I am not the worst either. I don't know how you judge your children when they come before you in death and I am not worried how you will judge me for I know I have lived my life largely with a good and kind heart and mind.

Blinking her eyes to clear the tears that had welled up but had been trapped by her eyelids, she smiled sadly and said, ' I know that there have been a few times when I have behaved badly. But all that is behind me. All I ask of you is to give me a chance, one chance to live my life properly and that which will hopefully satisfy you. Today is Christmas, your birthday and with that in my mind, I ask you to bless me and fulfil my wishes. Please watch over Madhu and Ravi and bless them with a long, healthy and peaceful life.

The tears now really gathered force as she prayed and begged in a trembling voice to the invisible God that lay above Paris and all around the Universe.

' Lord, Just one wish and that is please, bless them both with a child. It will be a tragedy if the kindest and bravest souls in your creation are without a child. I am not sure how this works with you, Son of God, but in my religion, a sacrifice is called for a good thing to happen.

Smiling, she spread her hands wide, ' Hear me for here I am begging you to ask of me what you wish as a sacrifice and in return for Madhu and Ravi to have a child and I will willingly do it. I promise. This is a pact, a secret pact between us and I swear to uphold it. But will you, Jesus? Will you?'

Hearing a knock on the door, she quickly wiped her eyes and said, ' One moment please ' and taking a cursory look through the peephole on the door, opened it and greeted her visitor with a smile.

' Please come in, Mr. Dhanashekara Pandyan.'

' Ma'am, please, just Dhana. '

' Ok. But, only if you stop addressing me as ma'am and start calling me by my name Gayatri.'

Dhana smiled and said, ' Okay, Gayatri it is from this moment on ' and with a smile she countered, ' Okay. Then I will call you as Dhana from now on. '

' Gayatri, is there anything I can get for you? Please, feel free to ask or call for I will be nearby.'

Gayatri hesitated and then told him that she wanted to step out for she was feeling cooped up in the room.

' Dhana, I don't know how much you know about me but I have never been the type to stay in one place for a long time. It makes me feel claustrophobic.

Pointing to the windows, ' It is an acknowledged fact that Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. But, then its beauty takes on a new meaning during autumn and winter. Paris is a different city during December and during the Christmas holidays. I am visiting Paris after so many years and I would prefer to take in the city than waste my time cooped up in this hotel room.

I want to step out, breathe and feel Paris and I am sure that will do more to help me recuperate and rejuvenate both my body and mind. So, if you don't mind, and only if you have the time, please Dhana, can you walk with me?'

' Gayatri, I am here to serve you. I would be delighted to accompany you.'

' Thank you, Dhana. Just give me a few minutes and I will get dressed and join you ' and then, remembering something, tapped the Kali Pendant that lay around her neck, ' What do I do with this? Do I remove it?

Then looking square into his eyes, ' You still owe me a lot of answers to the questions concerning why I was poisoned and who saved me ' raising the sacred Kali Pendant, ' Who placed this around my neck? '

Dhana smiled and said, ' I repeat once again, that when the time is right, or when he feels it is right, he will reach out to you and answer all your questions.'

' Who is this " Him, He " that you are referring to and that too with so much respect and love? '

Dhana's eyes were full of awe and faith as he replied, ' Gayatri, he has that effect on people. You will meet him one day and maybe sooner than later.'

Closing the door after Dhana had left to wait for her in the Reception area, Gayatri stood wondering about the person they had spoken about and then quickly dressed for the winter weather that hovered all around Paris.
