Some observations...

*1* Birds of a feather flock together and crap on your car.

*2* A penny saved is a government oversight.

*3* The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

*4* The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.

*5* The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.

*6* He who hesitates is probably right.

*7* Did you ever notice: The Roman Numerals for forty (40) are "XL."

*8* If you think there is good in everybody, you haven't met everybody.

*9* If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.

*10* The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he can tell when he's really in trouble.

*11* There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it. For example I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles

don't hurt.

*12* Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

*13* The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

*14* Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way... I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

*15* When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of Algebra.

*16* You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

*17* One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young.

*18* First you forget names, then you forget faces. Then you forget to pull up your zipper. It's worse when you forget to pull it down.

*19* Ah, being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

*20* Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today, it's called Golf......

Beautiful poem

Do you remember older generations drinking from their saucer? Grandpa always did and I thought it was because his coffee was too hot. Then today I came across this poem that made me feel there was symbolism to the coffee ritual.

Drinking from My Saucer

by John Paul Moore

I’ve never made a fortune and it’s probably too late now.

But I don’t worry about that much, I’m happy anyhow.

And as I go along life’s way, I’m reaping better than I sowed.

I’m drinking from my saucer, ‘Cause my cup has overflowed.

I don’t have a lot of riches, and sometimes the going’s tough.

But I’ve got loved ones around me, and that makes me rich enough.

I thank God for his blessings, and the mercies He’s bestowed.

I’m drinking from my saucer, ’Cause my cup has overflowed.

I remember times when things went wrong, my faith wore somewhat thin.

But all at once the dark clouds broke, and the sun peeped through again.

So God, help me not to gripe about the tough rows that I’ve hoed.

I’m drinking from my saucer, ‘Cause my cup has overflowed.

If God gives me strength and courage, when the way grows steep and rough.

I’ll not ask for other blessings, I’m already blessed enough.

And may I never be too busy, to help others bear their loads.

Then I’ll keep drinking from my saucer, ‘Cause my cup has overflowed.

The word kidnap means when a person has been taken away by force, but 'hijack' is used when a vehicle is taken over by force or something is stolen from it. Kidnapping happens to people, but hijacking happens to things.

But what about the people in a plane as it is being hijacked, taken over by criminals and terrorists. For isn't their real motive, kidnapping people and using them as hostages and pawns in the negotiations that they conduct with the respective governments.

9/11 is collectively considered the worst hijacking in the history of aviation, not only because of the number of victims it created but also because it was a watershed moment for the US and the whole world.

The attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon cost the lives of almost 3,000 people – 265 died aboard all four hijacked planes while more than 2,700 perished in the Twin Towers and the Pentagon.

Despite its magnitude, 9/11 is one of the last in a long list of hijackings, tracing back to the earliest days of aviation. The very first recorded hijacking of a plane took place in the year 1919 when Franz Nopcsa von Felso-Szilvás seized a plane at gunpoint in Budapest to fly to Vienna to escape the soviets who had taken over Hungary.

A plane hijacked while airborne is the scariest experience for passengers and the flight crew because the situation can turn fatal at any given moment and there is no redemption if things turn bad. This is what happened when the two jets crashed into the twin towers and another one into the pentagon and another one just outside Washington.

Aeroplanes fly at great speeds and are meant to fly unhindered and uninhibited and up in the open skies and are not meant to run into buildings or mountains. The latter is a more common occurrence and I hate to admit that.

The News of the hijacking of Australia's Qantas flight A380 had gone viral a few minutes after it had been hijacked over the Indian ocean and after it had gone into complete radio silence but not before issuing one single burst of transmission. " Mayday"

The word " foreign correspondent " means a person employed to report for a newspaper or broadcasting organization from a particular place abroad. In the media, you may have heard the words correspondent and reporter being used in various situations. But have you ever wondered the difference between these two individuals? A correspondent is someone who reports news from a particular region or country, on a particular topic. A reporter is a person who reports news for a newspaper or a broadcasting company. The key difference between a correspondent and a reporter is that while a correspondent voices his opinions in the news item, a reporter does not.

When an interesting event takes place somewhere in the world, a correspondent is sent to that particular place to report what is happening. This is why we see many correspondents reporting live from remote areas as well as foreign lands. The best example of this is war correspondents that are sent to the battlefront to report the news. It is important to highlight that, unlike reporters, correspondents usually state their opinions as they are reporting. This is mainly because the correspondent gets to experience the event firsthand.

News of a hijacking is by itself headline news that would a day easily dominate every tv channel and radio station worth their salt and with the burgeoning of Youtube channels along with other social platforms such as Twitter, Whatsapp and Facebook, the news of the sudden radio silence of Qantas A380 and the scary possibility that it had been hijacked went viral and at the speed of light and reached every corner of the globe in minutes. A feat that even the mighty sun cannot achieve as it is day on one side and night on the other side of the planet

The news reached billions and even pathetic Youtube websites with ameasly1K or 2k views and tv channels that had poor ratings saw their views and viewership numbers shoot off into the stratosphere. This is the power and reach of news.

Now came the crème de la crème and mother of all news when nearly the entire human race learnt about who the passengers were on the hijacked flight. When the news that the hijacked plane had on board Members of the British Monarchy, United Nations dignitaries, United kingdom's MP's and its deputy Prime Minister and several other minor but still important members of the corporate world, the news exploded with the power of a nuclear bomb and every foreign correspondent worth his or her salt rushed to Chennai.

Both the BBC and the CNN were lucky to have their foreign Correspondents on the ground and in Chennai for they were there to report on the International film festival that both France, the United Kingdom and the United States were going to conduct under the Auspices of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who had also agreed to their requests for a 10-minute interview after he had inaugurated the film festival.

So, in the front row and just a few feet away from India's defence Minister Rajnath Singh sat Yogita Limaye and Soutik Biswas, BBC's foreign Correspondents and right next to them sat Mallika Kapur, CNN'S correspondent. But the rest of the seats in the front rows were filled with India's leading reporters and journalists.

The whole press meet was being held in a large conference room that had been cordoned off from the rest of the Airport and armed commandos stood guard with only their eyes visible as the rest of the body was completely covered in black. All of them wore bulletproof Kevlar vests and their posturing clearly conveyed that they would shoot first and ask questions later.

The security measures extended out of the airport and to every nook and corner of India. Every station, major bus stop and airports were thrown under a blanket of security cover and to the public this conveyed a serious message to all of them that India might be under an attack.

All members of the press were scrutinized thoroughly and only then allowed to enter into the press conference room and each and every member were politely requested to raise their hand and not their voices.

Everyone gathered there watched quietly as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh entered the conference room and made his way towards the table that had just three chairs placed near it and folded his hands and said, ' Namaste. Good evening, everyone ' and it was clear to everyone there that the man was under major stress and strain.

He stood flanked on either side by Chennai's Airport director Sharad Kumar on his right and by Brigadier Sooryanarayanan on his left.

With a warm smile he announced, ' Firstly, I want to inform all of you that the hijacking situation is over and that all the passengers are safe and without any injury.'

A huge roar erupted in the conference room and everyone cheered and clapped loudly and there was not a damn thing the security could do about it and so, they all stood patiently along with the minister and waited for the noise to die down.

After it had died down and calm had been restored, Minister Rajnath Singh continued, ' For reasons that concern our National security I am sorry but I cannot divulge any details about the situation as of now as this is operation is still underway.'

Two hands went up immediately and Minister Rajnath Singh looked at both of them and chose one.

The raised hands belonged to two of India's most popular and well-respected TV anchors, Arnab Goswami from Republic tv and the other was Rajdeep Sardesai from India Today and it was an easy choice for the defence minister to make and he whispered softly, ' Arnab ji' and it was clear to everyone which channel the ruling party clearly favoured.

Arnab Goswami beamed and with his very first question set the tone that the minister had secretly hoped would happen and it happened.

' Minister ji, sir, On behalf of all our Indian Citizens we thank you for successfully ending this hijacking situation. This could have happened only under your supervision and that of Prime Minister Modiji.'

' Arnab Ji, a small correction. This whole operation was conducted under the guidance of Shri Modji and we just followed his orders. Bas, sirf follow kiya and with the help of our Elite Commando team that was headed by Brigadier Sooryanarayanan and with the expert assistance of our R&AW agents who were ably assisted by Chennai's Airport director and the airport security members.'

He suddenly paused in mid-speech and raised his hand and said, ' I am sorry but I have to take this call' and answered it and everyone present there could see that the Minister had just received some shocking news and began to worry and wonder if the Hijacking situation had been really solved after all.'

They heard him clearly say, ' I am sorry for your loss and it is a loss for all of us. Yes, please come for I was just about to go into the only details that we can reveal to the public.'

Minister Rajnath Singh placed his phone on the table and slowly turned to Brigadier Sooryanarayanan and whispered something that clearly sent the veteran army commando into a state of shock and his eyes could not hide the grief no matter how hard he tried to keep them stern and blazing.

Then everyone present there fell silent and looked to their right as a door opened and in that pin drop silence they heard the door being closed and watched as a tall, slim man walked towards the Minister and they all saw the front of his shirt was covered with blood that had only recently dried and maybe just a few minutes ago and a hum began to pick up in the room as everyone began to mumble and whisper their thoughts and fears.

Just when the hum threatened to erupt into a crescendo, Minister Rajnath Singh spoke in his characteristic baritone voice, ' Shant ho jo, calm down please' and slowly the conference room fell silent.

Hope. In the beginning and as life transpires, you, I and all of us have only hope left in our hearts when it comes to everything and about everyone. We hope that our friends and loved ones are safe and happy. We hope for a better world. We hope for a better life and above all, we hope that our loved ones who are old and sick, make it through and live on against all odds.

Is that too much to hope for? Of course not. Obviously, we cannot hope for someone to die and yes, sometimes when we think about it, all we can do is pray to God and hope that the old and sick have a peaceful death.

Even though I have flogged this much flogged thought of mine that those who are dead are dead but we the living are just undead and suffer more than those who are gone for we still feel. We still cry and worse we do it every day of our lives.

' Honour the deal. Honour the deal' Raman's mind swam with these last thoughts of his mentor V.K.Singh as he stood behind Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and completely unaware that his eyes were bloodshot by the yet to explode tears of sorrow and he held on grimly to his sanity. All to honour the last wishes of a man who had been both his friend and father than his boss.

Raman grimaced in pain and rage and thought to himself as his eyes surveyed the large gathering of press members and all the while his eyes and one part of his brain was totally alert to danger and any threat that might arise suddenly.

' Little do they know of what transpired in the plane that was hijacked and yet they have gathered here to swallow all the lies that my bosses are going to put out and this drama in the name of our country and its pride. Where are you mysterious man? Where are you Mister Azhagan and why don't step forward and take credit for your bravery and superpowers?'

Raman shook his head in disbelief for he still could not understand what had happened or how it had happened and why all the passengers thought that it was he who had rescued all of them. He stood like grim death dressed in a blood-soaked shirt and he stood like an angel of death itself and none of the members from the press fraternity could take their eyes of him.

Although all the women there did think and wonder about the story behind his blood-stained shirt, almost all, old and young were looking at him with different eyes and ones filled with passion.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was going on, droning about India's military power and how she could take care of herself and defend herself against any attempts of invasion of her sovereign land when his phone rang and he looked at it and looked at all the members of the press and smiling sheepishly, ' I am sorry friends but my boss is calling. Have to take it' and saying that, answered the call from Prime Minister Modi.

Everyone in the room looked at each other, wondering what was going on but all of them knew instinctively that some breaking news was coming their way. Their instincts were spot on and were proved right as they saw Minister Rajnath Singh nod his head and lean and whisper something to Brigadier Sooryanarayanan who gave him a look of surprise and then he to nodded and left somewhere and he was soon followed by the Airport Director Sharad Kumar.

Raman who was watching all this patiently slowly made his way towards the Minister who looked at him sadly and said, ' I am sorry, Raman but it will have to wait for this situation is much bigger than our friend V.K.'

Raman nodded grimly and said, ' He died in my arms and while he lies all alone in that ambulance, I am here, for what Minister sir? Towards what end?'

' That too will have to wait for now, Raman as this press meet is now not in my hands and has been temporarily taken over by the members of the Royal Monarchy.'

Billionaire and founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, has said he will not allow his daughter to marry a poor man. The billionaire businessman made this known while attending a conference on Investment and Finance in the United States recently.

Giving responses during the question and answer section of the conference a man asked Gates a question that made everyone laugh.

He asked if Gates, as one of the world’s richest men, would accept his daughter to marry a poor or modest man. The answer Gates gave, however, shocked everyone.

He said: “First, understand that wealth does not mean having a well-filled bank account.

“Wealth is primarily the ability to create wealth.

“Example, someone who wins the lottery or gambling. Even winning 100 million is not a rich man: he’s a poor man with a lot of money, that’s why 90 per cent of lottery millionaires go back to being poor after five years.

“You also have rich people who can’t afford it. For example, most entrepreneurs

“They are already in the way of wealth, even if they don’t have money, because they are developing their financial intelligence and that’s wealth.

“How are the rich and the poor different?

“To be simple: The rich can die to become rich, while the poor can kill to stay.

“If you see a young man who decides to graduate, learn new things, trying to improve continually, know that he is a rich man.

“If you see a young man who thinks the problem is the state, and thinks the rich are all thieves and constantly criticize, know that he is a poor man.

“The rich are convinced that they only need information and training to take off, the poor think others should give money for them to take off.

“In conclusion, when I say my daughter is not going to marry a poor man, I’m not talking about money. I’m talking about this man’s ability to create wealth.”

He added: “Sorry for what I’m going to say, but most criminals are poor people. When they are in front of money they lose their minds that’s why they steal, rob etc…

“To them, that’s grace, because they don’t know how they themselves could make money.

“One day, a bank vigilante found a bag full of money, took the bag and went to deliver it to the bank manager.

People called this gentleman an idiot, but actually, this gentleman was just a rich man who had no money.

“One year later, the bank offered him a receptionist position, three years later he was in charge of clients and 10 years later, he manages the regional branch of that bank. He manages hundreds of employees and their annual bonuses are beyond the value he could have stolen.

“Wealth is first a state of mind my friend.”

What luxury means in 2021 By Shoba Narayan, Mint, October 29, 2021

Luxury continues to signal power, affluence and taste—but the way we view and consume it has changed

If you ask your mother or grandmother what their idea of luxury is, you will probably get an answer that’s a variation of one of these:

“A diamond addigai (necklace).”

“A Kashmiri silk carpet or a shahtoosh.”

“A Mughal miniature painting. Or a Srinathji pichwai.”

“Listening to Sawai Gandharva on a full-moon night on the banks of the Ganga.”

Indians of earlier generations know luxury in a visceral, sensual way. Every product I have mentioned above is hyper-localised, linked to region, personal history and provenance. Often, each of these luxury objects is made by an artist or craftsperson who has worked with the family to custom specifications. It is purchased for a high price by an aesthete who has been following the sector for generations. If that isn’t luxury shopping, what is?

Ask your children or nephews and nieces the same question and the answers would be different.

“Billie Eilish Air Jordan vegan sneakers.”

“Mylo-Unleather handbags or a Huda beauty product customised to my skin.”

“I only buy upcycled, preloved, fair-trade, carbon-neutral, last-mile traceable, not-animal-tested, no-child-labour products from cooperatives that work with tribal or indigenous artisans.”

The definitions may seem as far apart as the two generations are in age but the luxury formula for both is similar. The finest materials sourced to create the best product, handmade by a skilled craftsperson in a way that reflects the buyer’s sensibility and style. The vocabulary may have changed but the goal remains the same.

Has the pandemic changed notions of luxury? Yes and no. Beneath all the objects and brand names, the main purpose of luxury is its signalling value. That remains unchanged. Luxury continues to signal power, affluence and taste but it also signals your values. What you buy reflects who you are, who you want to be.

Luxury in today’s world is about identity, values, emotions and connections. The pandemic has been an inflection point because it has forced luxury consumers to introspect. They may no longer want excessive, over-the-top, logo-bombed luxury. Instead, they are seeking a more thoughtful, sustainable, authentic version. “Covid-19 has inspired people to rethink luxury consumption values,” says Milton Pedraza, CEO of the Luxury Institute, a US-based research consultancy for luxury and premium goods and services brands

Here are eight ways luxury will change post-covid, in the short term and long term.

The Now-Me effect: We may want to portray ourselves as sensitive, evolved consumers but the narcissism that social media promotes makes us impatient as well. We see a product that we lust after on Instagram, click on it and want it within the 15 seconds it takes to play a video.

Pamper the shopper: Whether it is delivering coffee to customers who buy your jewellery, or sending salespeople to the gym so the customer can discuss travel options while working out, comfort, speed and ease are essential. As consumers, we have come to expect this personalisation of service from brands.

The search for meaning: Religion is still a huge part of the Indian psyche but globally, younger buyers are turning away from faith. Instead, they search for meaning in how they live, the objects they buy, the company they keep. Offering transformative experiences is now de rigueur for hotels, travel companies, wedding planners and event managers. People are focusing on the meaning more than the objects themselves.

Show care, don’t greenwash: Living through a pandemic has nudged quite a few towards the slow life. They are making conscious, authentic choices about how much and what to buy, and they care about provenance. Global consulting firm McKinsey’s The State of Fashion 2021 report says consumers care about social justice. How do brands treat employees and the environment? Do they support minorities and women? Is their board gender-balanced? As consumers, we want to spend on brands that conform to our values. We can suss out greenwashing, the pretence of being sustainable.

Quality over quantity: “Luxury consumers across the globe are buying higher quality, and, in some cases, fewer items as they think of high-end goods not just in terms of pleasure but also sustainability and long-term investment value,” says Pedraza.

Minimalism and the Marie Kondo effect: If Marie Kondo sparked the desire for minimalism, the pandemic just fanned it further. Each of us has gazed at our wardrobes with new eyes. Do we really need 27 belts? What were we thinking when we bought that shimmery, sequinned dress? Objects are being given to charity, sent to thrift stores. Wardrobes and homes are being pared down as minimalism gains momentum. And that’s also why people will buy fewer but better quality items in future.

Value over variety: There was a time when people went shopping for fun, as punctuation to their day. Today, those same people go for a walk or take a hike. The outdoors is where the action is because fresh air is perceived as safe, healthier than recirculated store air. We choose value over variety these days, particularly since we don’t have to show off at the office or at parties.

Customisation: Micro-sizes in clothes, bespoke add-ons to experiences, and thinking creatively about customisation have a long history in India—hence the continuing popularity of the Indian tailor. How much can an experience be customised to make me feel truly unique is what the customer is demanding of luxury brands.

To me, there’s one thing that’s the most luxurious of all: time. Luxury is ultimately about what you don’t have yet long for. What do you long for? Hugs? Beauty? Love? A higher calling? Repurposing objects to these deep and profound needs, often those we cannot articulate, has always been the challenge and goal for luxury brands. As consumers, we are going to be seeking out luxury brands that understand this, that cater to us—the hyper-aware consumer who looks for emotional and ethical touchstones.

As of 2021, there are 44 sovereign states in the world with a monarch as Head of state. There are 13 in Asia, 12 in Europe, 10 in North America, 6 in Oceania and 3 in Africa. Only a handful of countries are still absolute monarchies where the King or Queen has full authority over the entire nation.

The word Royal comes from the Old French 'roial', which comes from the Latin 'regalis' meaning 'regal'. It entered the language around 1400. Anything royal has to do with a king or queen. The official announcement a king or queen makes is a royal declaration.

Most people assume and wrongly that the British Royal monarchy is the oldest line of kings and queens in the world. But, the truth is that The Imperial House of Japan is currently the oldest monarchy in the world and has lasted for 2400 years starting from the year 660 BCE when Emperor Jimmu ascended the throne and created Japan. His ascension to the throne is celebrated in Japan as National Foundation Day on February 11 of every year.

When you compare the British Royal monarchy with these numbers, they fall short by more than a thousand years and fall again in the scale and numbers when their wealth is compared with the other surviving monarchies in the world right now.

The richest royal family is funnily The King of Thailand, Vajiralongkorn, Rama X and his wealth is supposedly valued between 30 to 40 billion dollars. Her Majesty, Elizabeth II ranks only 12th with her wealth valued at 530 million dollars. Her son, Prince Charles come in next at 13th with his wealth at 430 million dollars.

But, all the royal families ranked richer and older in comparison to the British Monarchy, fall short when compared to the breadth and length of its reign for the Queen of England is the head of the Commonwealth realm that has 16 member states, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, and the United Kingdom.

Queen Elizabeth II has been the UK's head of state since 1952 when her father King George VI died. She has ruled for longer than any other British monarch. She is also the head of state for 15 other Commonwealth countries. The 94-year-old monarch and her late husband, Prince Philip, have four children, eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. The British line of succession delineates who will inherit the throne and become the king or queen of Great Britain. Queen Elizabeth II is the current monarch, having reigned for nearly seven decades. Her husband, Prince Philip, who died in April at 99, was steadily by her side through the years, but he was not in line to succeed her. Instead, after the queen, her firstborn, Charles, Prince of Wales, will rule, followed by his firstborn, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and then his firstborn, Prince George.

The basis for the succession was determined in the constitutional developments of the seventeenth century, which culminated in the Bill of Rights (1689) and the Act of Settlement (1701). The Succession to the Crown Act (2013) amended the provisions of the Bill of Rights and the Act of Settlement to end the system of male primogeniture, under which a younger son can displace an elder daughter in the line of succession. The Act applies to those born after 28 October 2011. The Act also ended the provisions by which those who marry Roman Catholics are disqualified from the line of succession. The changes came into force in all sixteen Realms in March 2015.

The Line of Succession

SOVEREIGN

1. The Prince of Wales

2. The Duke of Cambridge

3. Prince George of Cambridge

4. Princess Charlotte of Cambridge

5. Prince Louis of Cambridge

6. The Duke of Sussex

7. Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor

8. Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor

9. The Duke of York

10. Princess Beatrice, Mrs. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi

11. Miss Sienna Mapelli Mozzi

12. Princess Eugenie, Mrs. Jack Brooksbank

13. Master August Brooksbank

14. The Earl of Wessex

15. Viscount Severn

16. The Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor

17. The Princess Royal

18. Mr. Peter Phillips

19. Miss Savannah Phillips

20. Miss Isla Phillips

21. Mrs. Michael Tindall

22. Miss Mia Tindall

23. Miss Lena Tindall

24. Master Lucas Tindall

There are no obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting The Queen or a member of the Royal Family, but many people wish to observe the traditional forms.

For men, this is a neck bow (from the head only) whilst women do a small curtsy. Other people prefer simply to shake hands in the usual way. On presentation to The Queen, the correct formal address is 'Your Majesty' and subsequently 'Ma'am,' pronounced with a short 'a,' as in 'jam'. For male members of the Royal Family, the same rules apply, with the title used in the first instance being 'Your Royal Highness' and subsequently 'Sir'. For other female members of the Royal Family the first address is conventionally 'Your Royal Highness' and subsequently 'Ma'am'.

Raman stood still, seething in pain and rage and then he could take it no more and decided that he would not stand there and be a part of the farcical proceedings and his mind made up, glanced at his immediate boss, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

The Minister took one look at him and knew what Raman was thinking and whispered, ' Raman, your boss and I cut a deal and not for our sakes but for the sake of our nation and its pride.'

Raman nodded, ' I know sir but that deal is no longer on the table.'

' What do you mean, Raman? I agreed to V.K.'s demands and even if it meant promoting you over others who have been in service for more than 30 years.'

Raman smiled, ' well sir, you don't have to worry about that anymore for I quit and am resigning from my job right this very moment.'

All this was spoken with a smile and a pleasant air between both of them. But, that did not fool anybody and as for the members of the press who had all seen worse situations knew that something was going on between the Minister and the man wearing the blood-stained shirt.'

At that very moment, a door on the other side opened, drawing all their attention away from the minister and the mysterious man and all of them saw several familiar faces walk through the door, escorted by armed commandos.

At the very same moment, Raman walked out of the press conference but a few who were in the business of reporting news had eyes only for him and they were the biggest and the best in their field.

Soutik Biswas, BBC's foreign Correspondent quickly typed a message, ' Keep your eyes on a tall, good looking man wearing a blood-stained shirt.'

Nearly the same words were sent out as messages from the phones of a few others but in the end, only one tv channel would get close to him.
