The Disney-UTV production Thaandavam, directed by Vijay stars Vikram, Anushka Shetty, Amy Jackson, Lakshmi Rai,, Nassar, Santhanam and Jagapathi Babu along with Saranya, Thambi Ramiah, Delhi Ganesh and M.S. Bhaskar. One of the most anticipated movies of the year, does Thaandavam live up to the hype and buzz around it? Let us find out.

The movie starts in London on a violent note on January 1, 2011. Within a few minutes we are transported to the same place, but one year later. Here we meet Kenny (Vikram), a blind man. Pianist in a church in London by day, Kenny is a man on a mission by night! In due course of his mission, he meets Sathyan (Santhanam), a cab driver and Sarah (Amy Jackson), an aspiring beauty queen. Situations and circumstances bring these three in constant contact with Veerakatthi (Nassar), a police officer in London. Also part of all these incidents is a mystery woman (Lakshmi Rai).

Another important character of the story is RAW Officer Sivakumar (Vikram). Sivakumar's best friend and colleague is Sarath (Jagapathi Babu). Posted in Delhi, Siva is one day summoned to his native village, as his mother (Saranya) has fixed his marriage. Though reluctant at first, Siva marries eye surgeon Meenakshi (Anushka Shetty). Their marriage slowly and steadily develops into friendship and then love. But then things take a turn. Siva finds himself face to face with Kenny!

How are Siva and Kenny connected? Who is the mystery woman? Many more such questions that pop up as the movie progresses are answered in the narrative. Watch the movie to find out.

Thaandavam is Vikram's movie all the way. He does not have a lot of dialogues, but his eyes and expressions convey all the emotions; as Siva his love for Meenakshi, as Kenny his determination to complete his mission, his love for his country, his loyalty to his friend and more. Anushka as the practical, urban woman is a treat. She is extremely lovable and is very sincere in her performance. Amy Jackson does her part well. Lakshmi Rai may not have too much screen space, but hers is a pivotal part in the narrative. Santhanam delivers the funny lines, along with Thambi Ramiah and M.S. Bhaskar. Nassar as the cop is top notch. Jagapathi Babu underplays his part well. His voice is his asset.

Vijay has presented a story that is well written and does not waver off the narrative meaninglessly. The camera work by Nirav Shah is pleasant during the romantic scenes and hard hitting in the action scenes. Editor Anthony ensures that the pace is not slack and the movie has a good momentum. Mention must be made about G.V. Prakash's music. The songs are melodious and do not hamper the flow of the movie, especially since they are not too long and work well as a relief rather than a speed breaker to the narrative.

Marks must be given to Vijay for utilising ever character well. The concept of echolocation has been well blended into the story. Daniel Kish, the man behind this theory and Vikram's teacher during the making ofThaandavam makes a special appearance as himself.

All in all, Thaandavam is definitely a movie towatch this weekend. With the right mix of romance, action, comedy, suspense and thrill; this Vijay-Vikram combination is a winner! It will be a 'Thaandavam' of success at the box office for this movie.

Thaandavam is a unsual revenge story which is been directed by A.L.Vijay who has directed film like Kiredam, Poi Solla Porom, madrasapattinam and deiva thirumagal now he is back with a bang with Thaandavam. Almost the team of thaandavam is same team as Deivathirumagal both the film have Vikram, Anushka, Santhanam and the techinical eam of Thaandavam is also the same team of Deivathirumagal. Nothing news in the storylinewe have scene this story in many films. story is simple Shivakumar is a RAW Officer he is married to Meenakshi (Anushka). He is on the investigation to find out about group who is planning to do a bomb blast in London but unfortunately in the bomblast his wife will be died and also he will become blind. So using echolocation method how Shivakumar take revenge on who is responsible for Meenakshi deah is the rest of the story is about.

Vikram : Vikram can do any roles the role in Thaandavam is very easy for Vikram he yet again given a outstanding performance both his Raw officer and blind man role is very good he shows a good variation in both of the roles.

Anushka - She is undoubtedly one of the good actress in south cinema she has done justice to the role she steals the show with her performance.

Amy Jackson - Nothing to say very okayish role...


Santhanam - Asual he comes in few scenes and make the audience laugh


Naasar - He comes an an srilankan tamil officer he done justice to the role. But he didn't speak proper Srilankan Tamil.

Positves
Whole strength and soul of Thaandavam is the chemistry between Vikram and Anushka and their formation of Love, Marriage, friends have executed and handled very well special thanks to A.L Vijay for executed the whole Anushka and Vikram combination scenes.


Song and bgm is another advantage of Thaandavam especially the bgm is outstanding athigalai pookal and oru Padhi kadhavu neeyadi bgm will comes throught the movie and very catchy bgm. In Songs only Uyirin Uyire and Oru Paadhi Kadhavu neeyadi is good but picturization of all songs are very good.

A.L.Vijay has comes out with a complete entertainer as the film has suspense, love story, action, comedy and he packaged and executed very well mostly. I am very much surprised with A.L.Vijay this time as most of his film he copies some things but in Thaandavam he didn't copy anything so that special kudos to A.L.Vijay. He is a good director if he do orginal script he will be become one of the top directors. Expecting a lot from A.L.Vijay.


Nirav shaw script is another plus for thaandavam asual he rock with his cinematography he showed the forign location, village city everything very good and he also give variation in his cinematography.

Negatives
But the problem with Thaandavam is the same old script as when the concept revenge comes in the later second half we will be feel bored. He could have avoid the revenge concept and al vijay could have give another concept at when revenge comes we feel tired it is a big disadvantage for the filmgrowing.



Al Vijay screenplay is slow this time he moved the film slowly in first half those church scenes are repeating a lot he could a avoid it and look at the scenes carefully. Screenplay could have been much much better..


Even wen vikram met with a accident, or amy jackson met with a accident the church people will come to visit them the people were laughing when they comes. It is a very sad thing A.L.Vijay could have shown those people very carefully and it become like a comedy scene is very unacceptance so all fault is with A.L.Vijay for showing them in a wrong way.



Another disadvantage is Amy jackson role is not needed at all she gave a good performance but her role didn't blend with the script thats the main problem with thaandavam.


As i repeat in the top nasar gave a good performance no doubts on that but why they use him as Srilankan tamil officer it was not needed at all. This is because they didn't do a proper reaserch on his slang and when he is interogatting sometime we will feel irritated.

This time don't know what went wrong with Anthony all his movies his editing will be asset in this movie editing is also a minus. Editing is good though but he could have trimmed some scenes they were not neccessary.


Uyirin Uyire song is not needed at all it lacks our difference and also Yaradi Nee Mohi both the songs doesn't needed at all they force to add these two songs..


Another problem A.L.Vijay force many things in this movie some scenes not needed at all.


Conclusion
Overall Thaandavam is not at all bad attempt it was a good attempt but at the same time it was not a brillaint movie. It is a good movie to enjoy with our family as it is a complete entertainer especially watch out for the love story of Anushka and Vikram and the investigation of Vikram.


Verdict : Worth to Watch it once in Theatre

Rating : 7.5/10

After Vikram's Deiva T, his movie Rajapattai was so horrible. It did not last in Cinema for more than 10 days here in KL.

I hope he redeems himself in this movie.
