Hey Amritha, and welcome to the forum! I'm Deep :)
The story's about the Dhillon family living in Amritsar - Gagandeep Dhillon, his wife Kanwal and their 5 daughters - Meeta, Ishu, Preeto, Bani and Sonu.
They found a guy for Meeta once, but he turned out to be a real creep, so that never materialized.. Meeta will most likely be paired up with Pankaj/Umrella (their neighbour and childhood friend, but she's yet to realise that :P)
Dhruv and Ishu like eachother, and their parents are discussing their marriage.. Ishu's always thought of herself as unlucky for her older sister since the guys that came for Meeta would always ask for her hand instead.
Preeto's the son of the family. She takes care of her parents, work and thus create an income source for her family and pays the fees for her younger sisters' studies. She's very talkative and straight-forward type of girl, but she values and respects the traditions of the family.
Bani's the one who thinks their family has too less. She wants to be like the other girls in her college, with mobile, enough money to spend in the canteen etc. She used to sell mobiles illegally earlier, and was even arrested for that, but she's promised Preeto she won't do anything like that again. She still thinks her father did worng when taking the job he has now, as it will damage her reputation.
Sonu's the good girl :P She goes to school, studies for her life, and lives for and with her books.
Rajbeer's Dhruv's friend, who's had some problems with his parents when younger (they never cared for him and always fought). So he appears to be quite stone-hearted and cold to the entire world, not givig love any importance. He's a caring and sincere guy though, who likes Preeto's family and their togetherness and bonding.
He always figures when Preeto looks sad and tells her something to make her feel better (to the point, and not just to cheer her up) and she's sort of managed to make him love living his life again, she's made him smile :D
Edit: okaay, so that got quite long. :P I think it's a very fun show to watch, but hard to write about cause there's so many things that's worth the watch but don't give the same impact written down. I'm sure you'll understand the basic storyline once you see a few more episodes, it didn't take long time for me to get into it ;)
