YEAH! There is one who is painstakingly outlining the emotional trauma of her entire family-herself,daughter,sister-just hope her family is a SMALL one! There is another who suffers from a medical condition(which she can't even SPELL!) that made her a social outcast. She has my sympathies but I don't like her sweeping condemnation of Indian are pathetic. She is happy in Australia-well more power to you mate!

It IS pertinent that the Mod noticed the existence of the thread AFTER seventeen pages! Slow in everything?! Personal pettiness? And Chitrashi-aliteration is a wondrous thing! On another forum-I called a character an outraged, outrageous orangutan-nearly got banned for bashing a FICTIONAL character!!

You guys are so insensitive towards the problem of a young girl. I am shocked how come you like the show??? Its all about discussing the problems people face due to attitude and thinking of our society, be it be on female infanticide, on special case people or domestic violence. The concept of the show is that people come and discuss their problems.
Anyone who is discussing his/ her problems on this forum has a right to do it cos its related to the show...atleast they r not discussing on any daily shows forum.
It s not washing your dirty linen in public in my opinion, it is just discussing what all you have been through after seeing the show.
And znursungh, that girl is right in condemning Indians where ever she has because there are so many insensitive Indians like yourself who would treat her so insensitively and rudely.
And if I look at your other posts you guys are discussing you are trying to be so nie and understanding that we should not laugh at people and stuff like that...WOW... what double standards!!!!

Sorry this person's medical problems are NOT related to the show at all. Also, if you post anything on the forum, you have to be ready to take all kinds of comments. If you can't don't make your personal problems PUBLIC.

Keep the personal problems - PERSONAL.

No one is criticizing the person or saying anything to her on HER thread. Don't play forum censor. Like she's entitled to air her issues in public, others are entitled to say what they think about something posted publicly.

Of course you are right, you can discuss and say anything, I agree with that.
I was just wondering about the double attitudes in different posts and just pointing that out!
In one post you are so sensitive about someone's problem and in other so insensitive, because someone did something you didn't like!

No, not because someone did something I don't like, but because someone is an attention-seeker.

This person joined yesterday, amongst the deluge of posts by spammers and made not one but two threads with the exact same topic. Why the second thread, because the first went off page 1.

If this person was suffering from the disease then she would at least know how to spell it, wouldn't she?

Leucoderma - the disease that the person is referring to leads to patchy skin color. Where parts of the skin lose melanin. It does not lead to complete change of skin color.

What the person is boasting about is that she's able to do well in Australia because her skin is fairer - isn't she then taking advantage of rampant racism? Instead of feeling sorry for her, I feel angry that she's trivializing the issues faced by various expat students. Wouldn't you have even a little sympathy for the numerous Indian students making their way in countries like Australia, US, UK, NZ, Canada where different standards of racism are still rampant and an everyday hazard? Would you feel sympathy for someone who was gloating about it and showing others in poor light?

The person's post is full of disparaging remarks about the country and she is saying that she's glad that she left the country. All we are saying that if someone feels this way about the country, we are glad that the said person left the country too. It is an expression of love for the country, Surely the country is higher than an individual.

Sure, maybe you are right, I never noticed all that!

I love India a lot too, but some people in our society are very insensitive towards others and dont think twice before saying ugly words to someone suffering. On the other hand in India only you meet with people who will go out of their way to help others.

You get all types of people in all countries, personal experiences make you form an opinion.

I felt sorry for her, because she must have faced a lot of bullying and what not. As for making two topics...I just assumed since she is new to the forum, she got confused because the other topic just had a fullstop in it. I don't think we should assume that she only did that because it went off the first page.

However, you are right, the general statement made about all Indians wasn't necessary, but maybe she's just heard too much crap from people in India that she felt it 'right' to make that presumption. But I can see now how it must have offended a lot of people.

What I am glad about this forum is that, if someone has faced certain problems regarding many of the issues the show discusses...they can discuss on this forum. This helps that person realise that she is not alone and also, makes the others realise that these problems are happening everywhere.

Well! ShinyGirl. You are entitled to your adverse opinion of me just as much as I am entitled to my opinions.I'd like to say in my defense that we patiently heard out and lived through many tantrums and witless comments made by ONE poster who kept bringing in her family and THEN accusing random responders for dragging her family into the forum-I think we wasted nearly 20 pages dealing with her petty and largely fictitious problems.

What I said about the lady who is allegedly suffering from a disfiguring medical condition...was only that she didn't even SPELL it right+if she was in a happy place"more power" to her mate! She SAYS she is in Australia-THAT'S where the phrase originates from-that is the ONLY reason I used it.It is NOT an offensive term-so I have NO IDEA what has given you offense in my post on a book post! Or how you have concluded that there are double standards at play

CHEERS!

PS=Don't be quite so hasty in judging people based one ONE random post-do read more of their opinions! And please remember this a forum to discuss the issues brought up by the program NOT one to solve PERSONAL problems of members.I'm not sure that any members are QUALIFIED to sort out the personal neurosis or MEDICAL problems of any other member so I don't like people diverting the legitimate discussions to get their 15minutes of fame. Sorry if THAT offends you...but that's just me!

As per your experience you think that one person faked out her/ his problem doesnt mean that everyone would do the same.
Anyways i dont think writing here about your problems give you any fame because noone really knows you here or comes to know you. Its just once you have been through bullying and get over it, you feel you have accomplished something big in your life and there is no harm in sharing it. She is not asking anybody's medical opinion to solve her problem, I am sure there are many doctors to do that!
Infact her post can be inspiration to many people who face some problems in their lives.
Its your opinion that she should not have discussed it here, ofcourse many people dont agree with it!
