Nopes you can have Medusa. I'm Medea, no second thoughts on that one :)

I DON'T want Medusa-before or after Athena cursed her with pasta hair.
I Do want to e-spank A & CG for even thinking of her & DUMBLEDORE-I'm a Sikhani but there IS a limit to the hairy creatures I can bear-to turn into one is a Horrible idea!
(Do these kids even LIKE me?!)
I still want Virmati!

She hasn't posted there yet, so it'll not be in her My Posts.

Zem - Click on Home, top left, first link on the red bar, and scroll down. You'll find a section called India Forums Sections. There'll be a list of general forums there, one is Chat Club. You'll currently find our thread on the first page. Later on you can always log in to the thread using My Posts.

@Chitrashi: Medea sounds downright frightful! 😆

@A: who is trying to turn you into a man??

Draw Something was an amazing fad...but it brought about the ignorance of some people...actually, just pure 'dumbness' 😆
I hated Medusa...purely because of the serpents...*shudder*

@Zeee: who is Virmati?

Okay I am posting again because I really can't recommend this book enough!

"Behind the Beautiful Forevers" by Katherine Boo.

I read this on a plane journey recently, and it reads like a thriller... it is in fact a non-fiction work based on years of research in a Bombay slum.

Seriously, read this.

Done! I will add Difficult Daughters to my list!

Beyond the beautiful forevers...so what exactly is it about? (yes, slums...but that's not a description :P)

well, without giving too much away, the book follows the lives of a few families who live in a slum close to the airport and their aspiration to a middle-class life. One family is the business of garbage. In another family, a woman aspires to be a slum-lord, while her daughter goes to college and memorizes snippets from Lear and Mrs. Dalloway. It's about the relationships between these families, their relationships with various power structures. How they exploit and are exploited in turn. It's also about those who live on the margins of this slum...

Hope that helps!

I think it's called "Behind the beautiful forevers" - as per google it is about the difference between the lives of the urban rich vs. the absolute poor. Contrasts are built by taking an orphaned muslim character from Dharavi as the protagonist.

I've already added it to my wishlist on Flipkart.
