This DOMINATING and POWER of men too has been here for a long time. How much ever we say that time has changed, women are more powerful now, it is not entirely true. Yes, women are coming out more than what they used to be, but when it comes to physical strength and emotions, women are still relatively weak which is an advantage for men.

@Jes I do understand that these things have been happening for a very very long time. But it has been continuing as it is very clear to those committing this crime that they won't be punished anytime, and there is always a way to get out of this. Police, Doctors and Lawyers are with them and they can escape. If not to stop this crime, at least it has to be reduced. And I feel the only way is immediate punishment. (which I fear might never happen)

Exactly even i m getting ur point ..and for this what should be done .. tell me! the higher authority(which involves men and women both) needs to change their way of thinking .. they need to be sympathetic toward the victim not the culprit .. and this can't happen in a male dominated society .. yah immediate punishment wil happen when our way of thinking wil change ..which the show and the episode tried to tell us .. we need to break the walls of taboos aorund us and stand up fior the right thing!

@Jes Yes. Thinking have to change. The higher officials should be more empathetic towards the victims. Treat them with respect, not the way it was shown. The show is trying to create awareness among people and at the same time show case how the system is currently working. This is wake the system up and take measures to see that at least in the future, the victims get due justice in time

@Bold: and i totally DO believe that .. it is not our fault but it is our nature .. every creature it not same powerful .. like even tigers and lions r stronger than us..so what? we need to over come taboos and only then we can think of getting proper right and judgement .. ! and also awareness in girls is also required .. they need to give priority to their safety and needs to stop get swept away by emotions as well .. :)

And the topic of PROPER JUDGEMENT !!! it is also in our hands ..like Aamir said for this we need to change ways of thinking and force the higher authority ..it is us who made them !!!! unless change won't happen .. and JUST giving them punishment is not the solution also .. u can give punishment to how many ppl when about 80% cases are not even registered?

Before going out and changing the police, the hospitals and the courts what needs to be done is to change our own society, our own so called samaj and its orthodox thinking towards women and above all towards rape and sex and all these things, why is woman's purity dependent on whether or not she is a virgin...why can't raped and sexually assaulted women dream of a better tomorrow, of a life partner, of love and respect? why her own family members and husbands wish to throw her out as if her only existence in their lives was limited to her being their lust satisfying machine, and now that someone else has used her for that same purpose uski utility khatam ho gayi? woh gandi aur impure ho gayi? woh layak nahi rahi kisike pyaar ki samman ki?...I mean WOW...just wow...till the damn time this pathetic psychology isn't changed ki sex, rape being a virgin doesn't freaking DEFINE kisi ki "izzat"...izzat RESPECT HONOUR that doesn't comes from being a damned virgin, from just being used by one man ie your husband over and over again...and wohi izzat doesn't vanishes into thin air just because some darinda comes and violates your body, HELLO izzat respect honour these are HUGE words and they come from speaking the hell up, form fighting against injustice, form having zero tollerance for any kind of crap, from having the damned courage and strength to fight, to hope amidst all possible odds...who has given this samaj, these men to define our izzat only in terms of whether or not we are virgins?...is love all abt just having that one girl who hasn't been touched by anyone else ever before?...is this the meaning and definition of love or is this a deciding ground for going out and purchasing a new COMMODITY? jab koi cheez khareedne jate hai thats when we want brand new, untouched stuff, toh ek aurat aur cheez main koi farak nahi?

till the time women wld be considered as mere sex sedating objects, things wld never ever change, hell to me that woman wld be hundred thousand times more respectable who even though might have slept with HUNDRED men but in her work, in her deeds is honest and sincere and compassionate, as compared to a beautiful, fragile virgin who just obeys and surrenders to her husband but behind all her timidness is a manipulative b@@@h...sleeping with number of men, being touched by number of men SHOULDN'T DEFINE THE AMOUNT OF OUR IZZAT FOR GOD'S SAKE!1!

Safety is never there anywhere. Its just not in the dark these things happen, but also during day time. Where will women go? Just stay at home? Small girls can't even go to school?! Girls/women are caught unaware when they are attacked and there is nothing they can do after that. They can be as cautious they can be, but the sad truth is, they cannot protect themselves once they are caught.

Hence, the safety and protection for women should be increased. Just not women, even men should be cautious and see that there is no one trying to attack women. Help them in need.

Forcing the higher authority is definitely needed. And now there is the power of media. Even though media does go overboard at times, they do bring the matter open and the officials are then forced to take action. Media can play a huge role in this.

It is the society that make victim feel she is culprit by passing comments and boycotting them. Own family turning their back when the victim needs them the most. If a women loses her virginity before marriage means she is characterless but if a man sleep with 10 women noone will question him. Society takes no time to point fingers at women but when it comes to man the rules change. The culprit lives his life without fingers being pointed at him while victim lives her life as a culprit.

It's mentality many have that if a girl is raped/molested she would be responsible for it. It is the way she dresses, attends late night parties, stays alone means she invited all this herself. If the victim goes to file FIR or medical examination she is forced to take back the case asked humiliating questions. Being from poor family or not being financially dependent add to their trouble. It also happens with people coming from good financial background or extremely rich/powerful

There are many loop holes in the system more than victim it is the culprit who is benefited from those. Excuses like not being unwell, attend other important case can't attend the hearing etc leads to date being pushed away further give more opportunity for culprit to find ways to escape delay the case further. Culprit can hire as many lawyers as wants while for victim it has to one i.e sarkari lawyer. Eventhough there is law not to ask humiliating questions to victim defense still do it without any objection shows how laws are not followed inside the courtroom itself.

For rapists it is about showing their power, dominating women and revenge for hurting their ego. Some don't even leave their own blood. I remember one case where a girl was raped by her own brother regularly. He also made his friends rape her. When she got pregnant and revealed what happened noone believed her. She died later being poisoned.
